This was a fun show.
Yes it was. Best girl was obvious (pic related), it was cozy, and funny.
We'll never get to see the reunion with his childhood friend that turned him down as he is with Miucel.
GATE is objectively the better show. Better story, setting, writing, etc.
Outbreak company for the fap material. Fapped like 4 times to the megane girl. That beach episode made me cum buckets.
I actually prefer Outbreak Company to GATE. The idea of infiltrating a new society and gaining dominance via the spreading of culture was more interesting to me than annihilating any challengers with devastating force. I prefer the girls in OC as well.
That one, and the one where MC teaches the princess the pain of being a NEET are episodes that go above and beyond.
Mostly because both those girls are so damn cute.
>than annihilating any challengers with devastating force.
That's a poor way to describe GATE but coming from someone who thinks a fanservice anime is better than GATE, I didn't expect more.
Come on now, that's a disservice. Outbreak Company has some sexy girls but it's a comedy at heart.
Something about playing for a cultural victory I found really fun to see in an anime.
I watched the entire first series and I don't remember anything about liberating the Empire (Kingdom?). At all. Japan seemed keen to maneuver around the bloodythirsty king for peace talks, but I don't think "freedom" was ever mentioned as an objective or goal.
Outbreak Company is far better. It tackles issues of racism and socioeconomic class division by incorporating them into the narrative, while in comparison GATE is heavy-handed with its message (which basically just amounts to "Nippon strong, JSDF righteous"). It also treats the hikikomori phenomenon with sympathy - in Outbreak Company, the MC recounts his own personal experience and the pain he's been through, while in GATE, Itami is just a wacky Gary Stu who may as well not be an otaku at all.
He's right, other than the fact that you really shouldn't be watching Outbreak for politics.
It's hard to take you guys seriously when OC is literally "tits and ass in a fantasy world!" the show. All the socioeconomic and anime culture bullshit is clearly just an excuse to fit in elf and wolf porn into the show while pandering with the viewer that can relate to "muh animu".
Don't expect the chuunis on /a/ to agree with you though.
And yet it managed to tackle the whole Hikki/NEET issue a lot more maturely than plenty of other shows out there.
GATE is essentially gun porn with porn, and it doesn't even do the gun porn right.
Did you read what I said? You shouldn't be watching Outbreak for the politics.
I think OC is better because it takes a comedic approach. There's a bit of a dramatic bullshit and a serious twist but overall still has that heartfelt comedy.
The story isn't an excuse for /e/ shit. It's a background for a lot of fun modernity meets fantasy situations.
I'm not dissing gate either, OC is just a better magical gate series.
Tits and ass are fine if that's not everything about the show. Every thread about this show is about raping the elf or fucking the wolf. No one really cares (and shouldn't, to be honest) about the whole otaku shit. It's just a cute cover to have elf ass and wolf tits in a show.
What the fuck is gun porn? If you know what that is, fuck off back to /k/ with that bullshit. That doesn't qualify as fanservice in my book because I assume that most of /a/ don't give a fuck about what model of gun the characters are using.
So it's better because it's more fun? Okay, buddy. Enjoy your tits and ass.
>It handles those issues better
>but the show clearly doesn't focus on those issues
If "handling better" to you is slapping comically slapping tits and ass in front of the screen while the characters are wondering about how to solve those issues, then yeah, sure. I think it's handled better when the issues are discussed and solved in a logical and serious manner.
>What the fuck is gun porn?
I think you need to lurk the fuck more, because this is by no means exclusively relevant to /k/. /ak/ threads have been around for quite some time, and the userbases have always overlapped to some degree.
Military otaku overlap with anime otaku to some extent. There are magazines in Japan that focus on nothing but anime girls and guns. Gun porn is indeed fanservice.
But GATE doesn't only deliver visually: it also delivers in terms of plot, providing an overly simplistic world view where problems are solved guns blazing since politicians with their silly diplomacy can't get shit done.
Outbreak Company surprisingly provided a surprisingly mature approach to lots of things. Overall it's very simplistic too of course, but it did do certain things quite well, and the writer obviously doesn't have the mindset of some right-wing nutjob.
>when the issues are discussed and solved in a logical and serious manner.
You mean Gate? You do understand we are comparing OC against Gate right? I just want to get that clear, in case you are not actually trolling but just misunderstood what we said.
I've seen the show.
Sure. Girls and guns are fanservice. Too bad 90% of the people having guns in their hands are men in GATE so I don't see where the fanservice is much more than in OC.
>Outbreak Company surprisingly provided a surprisingly mature approach to lots of things.
You must be fucking kidding me, holy shit. Alright, I'm done.
Subjugating fantasy worlds with guns is so blasé. Subjugating them with SnK is the new hotness.
>Too bad 90% of the people having guns in their hands are men in GATE
If your plot is essentially the summary of a /k/ thread that goes along the lines of "What if I put 100 marines into ancient Rome, could they conquer the world?", then it's indeed a kind of fanservice, pandering to the sorts of people who'd like to see that.
>You must be fucking kidding me, holy shit.
You were already told about what things Outbreak Company did well. I can't find a lot of things done well in GATE. It does neither military things well, nor does it do political things particularly well. And that's what it relies on. And it takes itself seriously in doing so.
Outbreak Company is a charming, inoffensive show about a hikki/NEET who's sent to a fantasy world to get them in touch with Japanese entertainment media. It doesn't take itself very seriously but the things it does take seriously, e.g. the aforementioned NEET issue, it does handle surprisingly maturely.
>Alright, I'm done.
Indeed. You just got told on the internet.
Look at this pleb. And while you're at it, tell all the kancolle posters that battleships aren't sexy nor appealing.
I love Outbreak Company. I'd really like for a S2 to get made but seeing as I don't like the second halves of the author's Scrapped Princess and Chaika anywhere as much as the first, I'd be a bit wary of it too.
It's good seeing somebody else who notices how Outbreak Company tackles themes of prejudice and isn't just devoid of value.
>What the fuck is gun porn? If you know what that is, fuck off back to /k/ with that bullshit. That doesn't qualify as fanservice in my book because I assume that most of /a/ don't give a fuck about what model of gun the characters are using.
This goalpost shifting. This reaching. This desperate and disingenuous suggestion that gun porn for the sake of gun porn hasn't been the driving force behind a number of the most popular series of the last 15 years.
Gate was originally translated by /ak/, the gun porn aspect of it has clearly been around longer than you have. It's a central element of the series.
It needed more Empress
Outbreak Company's invasion by cultural invasion is more effective than the GATE's armed invasion. I mean the USA has conquered the world with it's hollywood movies and high production pornography.
Half-elves are for _______
It's still ongoing. Harem end seemed likely last I check with Half-Elf, Peturarca, Wolf-Girl and best girl Garius. There's one or two more I think but I'm too drunk to remember.
Thanks buddy, My problem with harem anime/manga/LN etc is I don't want anyone to be cast out like a used rag but I still want someone to win it is deeply troubling unless they are shit except one.
