What were the most significant directorial debuts of the 2010s? To me those would be Kyousougiga by Rie Matsumoto and Little Witch Academia by Yoh Yoshinari.

There are three. First the creator was just allowed to make a one-episode OVA. Then she got to make an ONA series that are loose stories expanding on the whole thing. Finally since both of those were popular they decided to go with a full cour series.

If you want to check it out then just go with the series. The first episode is the same as the OVA with some minor changes.

Nobody on /a/ will ever recognize him because of SAO. And unfortunately Bokumachi will end up having the same treatment despite being a fantastic production so far (well, until last week's episode at least).
But if we're talking about success, I'm pretty sure Love Live's director was a first-timer.

I think Kyouhei Ishiguro should be recognized too for Shigatsu but his name was horribly tainted with m'lance n' m'asques.
