I think it helps to understand how anime is structured.

KLK has 24 episodes. Most of us would call that one season, but that's not quite true. Most anime production is structured around blocks of 12-13 episodes called cours. So a complete "season" of anime is really just two cours back-to-back.

That's why a lot of anime have two very distinct parts. They are often stylistically different, may center around different characters, and typically have different OPs/EDs. They may not always even be written by the exact same creative staff.

Another good example of this is SAO. Notice how both SAO and SAOII each have two very distinct parts. The two halves of TTGL are another example.

KlK was fun to watch with /a/ but it really isn't good, I probably would have dropped it if I picked it up later.

Mako was always portrayed as someone who had great potential in using goku uniforms in general. Life fibers are just a parasitic life form from what I understand.
