Ask someone who spent the last 3 days watching all of Evangelion, EoE and all three Rebuild movies anything.
I've been watching anime on and off for the past couple years, I usually go on recommendations. I've been using 4chan for around 3-4 years. Usually stick to /mu/.
>>137174896 I'm not too sure. I'm really torn up about everything that happened.
watch out guys this op might be an post ironic level 4 oger poking fun at 4chan meta culture
I was thoroughly confused about the last 2 episodes, but after thinking about it for a little bit, I understand it, even though the congratulations ending was silly. I enjoyed EoE much more as an ending to the original series, the very ending scene had me holding my breath for it's entirety.
I was the opposite at first. I completely understood the last two episodes, but EoE left me with a sour taste in my mouth.
I prefer EoE now after a second rewatch, but I love both of them personally. Glad both exist.
This is not /b/ you know...
I have been rewatching Eva for the last 6 months, only on the last 7 days I've probably watched it about 10 times.
I am too. I was genuinely a little angry about the last two episodes, but I'm glad I decided to think about it instead of being pissy. EoE was exactly what I wanted to the end of the series, even if it wasn't exactly what I expected.
Yeah I was confused at first but when you figure it out you appreciate it a lot more and EoE compliments it nicely.
I actually saw the end of EoE part 1 before I watched the series when I was really young so I knew a bit of what I was going into.
The only thing I knew about prior to watching it was that one of my friends thought that the long wait in episode 24 before Kowaru gets squished was hilarious. But I forgot that before I watched it.
I'm glad I got to watch it spoiler free.
I watched it two years ago with a lot of exposure to it beforehand so I knew quite a bit. I still enjoyed it but it would have been fun to go in completely clueless.
Since I was young I didn't fuly tealise the significance of Misato making out with Shinji. I do remember thinking Shinji was a short haired girl at first and veing put off course the age difference.
It was a lot of fun going in dark, I enjoy anime that go from stereotypes to batshit crazy.
I feel as though I just the right age to watch the show, talking to some of my friends who've watched it, they said it wasn't until later that they ended up understanding most of the series. (I'm 18, turning 19 soon).
I'm glad it ended up being a deconstuction anime, I'm not really into Mecha anime. Nothing's really drawn me to them, I only decided to watch Evangelion because I heard it was good.
Yeah neither, I still haven't seen a lot of anime because I had a teen period where I hated anime but Mecha's never really drawn me. I still want to see Gurren Lagaan and this other one that I saw on an anime review blog but I have a huge list to go through first
Some of my friends who're super into anime have told me that Gurren Lagaan's good, as well as Kill La Kill and Samurai Champloo.
Thinking about watching SC, since it seems different.
>>137177154 Depends where the blowjob is taking place, what country, and what city in said country.
I've watched Kill La Kill, which was fun but I found the first half was a lot better then the final episodes. It's not something I'd marathon again.
Yeah SC seems interesting I'll have to give it a shot. I've been trying to get a copy of Princess Tutu but my JB-Hifi hasn't been stocking it
I'm glad you appreciated the postmodern arthouse surreal horror masterpiece that is "End of Evangelion". It's one of my favorite films of all time.
What was your favorite aspect of the series overall?
Had to look up what a JB-Hifi was, I've heard about Princess Tutu before, not sure where. Is it any good?
Designs of all the characters, Angels and Evangelions were nice. I also enjoyed that it points about how much life kind of sucks, but at the same time running from your problems won't solve anything, even if it causes more trouble down the road.
Shinji coming out of his shell and then retreating back into it.
I remember marathoning NGE+EoE in one day during a weekend. Trying to deconstruct and analyze what I had watched messed me up for a few days until I finally decided to look up 'definitive' answers online in case I missed stuff.
So how would you rate it and as a contrast, what other anime do you like?
Yeah, I've done same since I finished watching all of it.
I would rate it 9/10, the last anime I really genuinely enjoyed as much as Evangelion was Cowboy Bebop, but I also enjoy the Ghibli movies, Akira and from what I've seen of it, Fullmetal Alchemist. As I mentioned on a previous post, I go on and off with anime.
I watched all of evangelion, and the movie in a day. Idk where people are getting that they're fucked up on the inside cause of it. It was alright, the movie was the most pretentious thing ever though.
I don't feel fucked up inside because of it, It made me feel uncomfortable though.
>otherwise the series is just a ... with a beautiful movie finale
If you didn't feel for and understand the characters, at the very least Shinji, then I'd imagine the ending would feel like the most pretentious piece of shit.
I'm starting to realize watching Evangelion is the entry level to higher level posting on /a/?
I always do an annual rewatch on my birthday. Afterwards I usually just lie down and think about my life until I pass out. Nothing else really gut-punches me like that post-Eva emptiness.
You relate to the characters, you understand where they're coming from and why they behave like that, then they do something vicious and hateful or plain sick and the gutted sensation is from understanding that, too. Show's full of people you regret having been.
>higher level posting
Yeah I realised as I was posting that it might only be an Australian store. I haven't seen it but I've watched a few reviews that I think I'll like it anyway.
Definitely the character relationships and designs.
The fifth one, I thought the concept was cool, but also the concept of having to power a giant cannon with all of Japan was really cool.
>floating corpses turn into Instrumentality womb turn into forests turns into a city
What's the significance of this?
I just finished watching Evangelion today too, OP. I thought it was alright, nothing special. I wasn't invested in the main characters at all (the secondary ones were much more interesting to me), so it was hard getting through the final episodes and EoE. I just didn't care anymore, I got the sense that the show had just turned into the rambling of a depressed guy, repeating the same things over and over.
This was my favorite angel too, finding out that the sphere was actually a shadow of the real angel was pretty cool.
No better way to celebrate another year of life than getting drunk and realizing what a piece of shit you are while watching Eva.
Zeruel, because she'll slap your shit without a second thought.
I related to Shinji in the sense that I kept on thinking "Oh god this is what I was like when I was 14, wasn't it." To be honest, I liked how the show ended. The congratulations scene was cheesy but it felt right to me, mostly because I was feeling it was about time Shinji had that realization, and I felt like congratulating him too for maturing a bit. EoE didn't make much of an impact on me, mostly because I realized that I already knew how it ended thanks to internet memes. Oh well.
Misato is best girl, by the way
i feel pretty confident that the first bit here is supposed to represent people exiting instrumentality as shinji talks about how unrealistic it is to believe in "the hope that people will understand each other some day" that rei mentions
and that the last bit is just people showing up when shinji says that he still wants to see people again in spite out of he'll end up deserted (shot of the empty street) again
i can't put a dent in the red rocky terrain and the forest bit there though
In the movies "the newer ones" they mention stuff about shinji developing different than the old one. Same shit with Rei. Then you have the title of the new movie being 3.0 + 1.0
Now in japan + usually means "to"
Like rosario + Vampire for example in which the chara goes from being normal into a vampire.
We where discussing that stuff in a thread a few hours ago.
>10 times within last 7 days
>last 6 months
gee Bill, are you real?
1) How old were you when you first watched Eva?
2) What are your favorite and least favorite characters and why?
3) Please explain how Gendo's plan would've worked if he succeeded. It always seemed like Instumentality> LCL World> ????> Get wife back
