Best Gundam series
1.). Original Series
3.). 8th MS Team
This is my opinion and I'm okay if you guys think it's pleb, I just want to discuss gundam with you fucks. <3
Also called 'finally being progressive'.
>posting a shitty knock off version of my gundamfu
I just finished watching Mobile Suit Gundam for the first time. It was very, very good, and now I understand why Gundam became such a franchise. The series being cancelled after planed for 50 episodes really shows; they basically wrapped up the one year war in the span of the last four episodes, when they even allowed themselves to give Kai Shinden a couple episodes. Also, it feels a bit weird compared to the other gundam (and mecha shows) I've watched because both sides relied heavily on regular war machines and vehicles like planes, compared to the usual "the only war machines are robots and a ship to carry said robots", except for the last battles where everyone was using mobile suits.
The guntank is an ugly piece of shit. It's not the worst MS in that show because the fucking Zakrello exists.
This. They even fujobaited with Garma and Char before Char being a dickbag happened.
No, fuck both of you. Just look a this thing.
It's like something a children designed.
Also, forgot to add:
Mobile Suit Gundam is good because it's an actual war. The problem with the other gundam shows is that they don't depict wars, or their settings aren't wars.
They're just conflicts between a group of egotistal assholes vs another group of egotistal assholes using giant humanoid robots.
I'm still fond of it but rewatching the whole thing somewhat recently it doesn't hold up. It's over the top antics keep it from be boring but it's just not that good.
If you like more modern shows watch 00 or Unicorn. I'd recommend Build Fighters, but watching 0079 is highly recommended to get full enjoyment out of it. Every show at some point references 0079, do yourself a favor and just watch the 3 compilation movies totally around 6 hours or so total.
>In the trash: Turn A
I basically stopped what I was watching when Sochie first appeared on screen. First episode was boring anyway and totally turned me off. Nothing about it grabbed me.
In before: there weren't enough colors and explosions in the first episode to impress you hurr durr.
I'm bad watching heavy politics shows. I like Gundam Wing because it's less heavy than main continuity. I would like to watch Gundam G as well. Seems to be more action-y and over the top than your average Gundam show.
Same dude here, I actually watched all of it because /m/ nonstop wanks over the show. The first half is extremely slow, even then when the plot does pick up it isn't very interesting. Shame too since I hoped gaijin influence on design and story might breath life into the series. Instead it floundered hard with little to no creativity. Best part about the entire series was the moonlight butterfly fight.
All you truly need is 0079. The rest helps, but I wouldn't say it's required watching. Your average viewer should be able to grasp the concept of funnels, clones, artificial new types, etc.... fairly quickly without the other series explaining them.
I was most surprised by how 0079 showed that soldiers on the enemy side could be nice people too and it was not just named characters like Ramba Ral, but nameless grunts like the guys who were so impressed by how Amuro disabled all their bombs that they went over to congratulate him in person.
Decoys and field testers for the EFF.
It feels like (or at least that's the conclusion I came with after watching the series) the White Base and the Gundam weren't vital to the federation's victory.
As dangerous as they were, I don't see the Elmeth and the Zeong winning the war with themselves. Especially given how the leaders were murdering each other.
Yeah, that was amazing. The zeons were normal people not unlike the federation soldiers; they were just on the opposite side.
Compare that to Zeta, where the Titans were cartoonish villains.
1. Turn A
Senpai, Unicorn's entire premise is based off what happens in CCA
The best thing about Unicorn was the terrorist attack on the day of UC's foundation.
The space / colony age has been but war, bloodshed, violence and death so it was fitting for it to start with a massacre.
>3. 00 S1
The first season was great and the final battle extremely climatic.
A shame S2 became more generic also
Lockon's twin brother was a shit idea, the guy died a good death leave him be
I think that's the key difference between Zeon and the Titans: the Zeon army was just that: an army. Meanwhile the Titans were special forces conformed not by regular people, but by greedy individuals and psychopaths seeing the organization as just a way to satisfy their own desires.
Zeta > Turn A > 0079 > G > X > Victory > 0080 > F91 > Unicorn > 8th MST > 0083 > ZZ > Reconguista > 00 > IBO > Wing > SEED/SD > AGE > Igloo
In terms of spin-offs Build Fighters was good but I do not consider it as a mainline or "true" Gundam series.
I give it to Wing, 8th MS Team, and the first season of 00. Second season seemed a little off but still ok.
Honorable mention is G Gundam for the most over the top shit I've ever seen. Hotgoddamn those Burning fingers.
I think 00S2 was great, but I disliked how it became another UC Gundam. Even the Gundams themselves became UC-esque "blocky" compared to the S1 ones, which looked distinctive without stopping being Gundams.
Ribbons using those clones as suicide bombers instead of just sending them to fight hand-to-hand against the CB/EF forcesis one of the most retarded things I've seen in fiction. Holy shit, what were the writers smoking?
Original, Zeta, Char's Counterattack, 0083, War in the Pocket, X, the entirety of 00, SEED (only the first one), both Build Fighters, IBO (to be fair I haven't watched since episode 8; it isn't grabbing me).
1 Turn A
Me on the right.
08th MS Team
33 episodes of Victory currently.
Should I watch all the other non-UC stuff? Definitely plan to skip build fighters cus I don't give a fuck about models.
>all this Wing love
Respectable taste coming through.
It had good designs. Not the best. But that's all it had outisde of a soundtrack. Those don't make up for the disastrous everything else.
I feel like almost everyone who is saying Wing is good in this thread is relying on nostalgia. If you go back and watch it now, it's pretty fucking garbage.
Why did she have to die? She's the best onee-san. She died yet that blonde cuck survived.
You only need to post once, anon. Your crusade ends there.
Jesus christ this one dude hates Unicorn this much.
What did they do to you anon? Where did Full Frontal touch you? Or are you still upset about Marida? Tell us..
>so many top 3:s with 0080 in them
Godtier taste, /a/
Seed will always have a special place in my heart idgaf
I won't say it's terrible, but watch 0083, 08th MS Team and Z.
This is the only correct answer
I think it's better than 00, Destiny, and AGE, but it's inferior to the UC crop.
How's Iron Blooded Orphans or whatever the new series is called? For reference, I loved Stardust Memory and 08th MS Team, really liked Unicorn, and I like G Gundam because it's stupid fun. I loved Wing when I first saw it in high school, but I tried watching it again recently and realized it wasn't as great as I remembered, and I fucking hated the SEEDs.
Also, how's 00? I've tried to watch it twice, but I stopped around the 4th or 5th episode because of the front-loaded heavy exposition. Does it get better and is it worth it?
>mfw IGLOO and 08th MS Team are the only Early UC side stories I've watched
I actually think I gravitated towards watching them when reading up on what happened in that time period because they sounded the most interesting to me.
15 minutes for a ban and a mountain dew.
It's okay to admit you were gay for Wing, everybody was.
>"I watched it as an adult and hated it"
>Implying that we have to watch G in childhood to fully appreciate it
>Implying that suparobo shows must be for children only
>"A-anon I don't understand hot-blood suparobo spirits"
It's like you just got into anime yesterday anon
