What the fuck was with that chocolate shoplifting story?
>>
They just wanted to pin a crime, ANY crime, on him as part of a conspiracy to get him out of the way. Candy bar was probably the easiest thing for someone to plant on him.
>>
Store owner is the murderer
>>
>>137136116
>commie
>>
>>137136473
>using anything but commie
>>
>>137136116
It's not hard to see the point the author was trying to make but the fact it was over a chocolate bar makes it hard to take seriously.
>>
>girls in class think it's awful when they find out Kayo was being abused
>they're glad to hear she's safe
Sensei lied about that too.
>>
>>137136116
It felt more convincing in the manga, I think because they left out a few lines.
>>
>>137138656
The manga is not different, I think it's as this guy said>>137137194.
>>
ITT: cucks
>>
How would the shop owner know he stole chocolate unless he saw him take it and put it in his pocket?

If the dad really didn't steal the chocolate and just happened to have it in his jacket when he walked in the store, why would the shop owner have any reason to confront him? And what gives the shop owner the right to forcefully grab a man and body search him? This means that he did steal the chocolate.

But why would a grown man, a father, steal a chocolate bar that costs like 120 yen or whatever when he's with his daughter? Airi doesn't seem to come from a family that lived in poverty. Even if she did it's still retarded.

The writing is shit.
>>
>>137140193
He didn't steal it, so someone either put it into his jacket or he had it there. Shop owner didn't believe him so he told him to confess. But father didn't want to lose his dignity so he left the village. It's hard to understand for western people, but people with such high sense of dignity do exist.
>>
>>137139920
It is slightly, well in the manga I remember the dad said to her "that's right, I didn't do it", and there was a line or two more like "my parents fought a lot after that" though maybe it was just the translation that was dumb for that part.
>>
>>137140417
Yeah, It has more line but it does not make it any different, it's still hard to took it seriously
>>
>>137140251
Leaving town over a false accusation of petty theft isn't dignity.
>>
>>137140465
Maybe it was the images then? The anime makes it look like she just went "I hate you now you dirty lying thief" and divorced him. But it seemed clear in the manga that getting arrested etc probably caused their family a lot of problems and she was pissed he brought all this on them because of a fucking chocolate bar.
>>
>>137136116
It was a social commentary.

Japan has a culture that isn't interested in Justice so much as they are interested in keeping Social Order.

1. Crimes are kept quiet
2. Victim Blaming/Shaming is common.
3. Innocent people are sent to prison because its simply who the cops caught first.
4. People convicted of crimes, even if they are found 100% innocent, still suffer a "social death"

It's a theme that's very common. They even highlighted this fact in SAO IIRC with some girl that shoots a bank robber with the robbers gun, saving her mother life, and gets rewarded by being socially outcast. There are many more instances of outright victim blaming/shaming shown in anime, you just gotta pay attention.

It's also part of the reason why public sexual assault is so common. We're all aware how victim blaming goes when it comes to sexual crimes and such here in the west but you are shamed for ANY crime happening to you.

ERASED appears to be a critique of all those elements, not just of the Japanese judicial system, but of the culture that spawned it.

You don't have to be westerner to think this is weird. Honestly, I think Nips has a really weird sense in many things, not just dignity.

If his wife would leave him because he was accused of stealing a chocolate bar he's better off without her. She was probably sleeping around anyway.

No need to get out of your way and try to explain it. Hey, I like the show for the most part myself. But not reason looking into this one, it was just shit writing and one of the series' weakest moments so far. Could have been worse (probably).

Fucking westerner dont understand honour and dignities

All this happens in Europe too.

Hey chill, just because they are westerners and don't understand your cultural definition of honor* and dignity doesn't mean that they are cucks. You are being a rude and inconsiderate person. Please treat your fellow human beings with more respect and take your time to consider that there are real human beings behind the screen. Thank you for reading my post Anon.

You don't need to explain yourself. You are free to choose to be willfully ignorant idk.

I was just explaining in case other people reading this thread or watching the show were unaware of the social context that the show is happening in and wanted to give people who want to examine the show more deeply a jumping off point.

I think people will understand the author's point if he does not bring the chocolate bar up...that's too extreme.

I haven't read the manga but he saves this cute girl in the end right?
>>
>>137143126
Yes, but he did not manage to catch the murderer in 1988 thus make the murderer roam free&kill fuck ton of loli until now.
>>
>I should probably make up something to explain why this girl completely trusts this suspected murderer
>ch-chocolate bar
>>
Dad was accused of stealing choclate bar. Chocolate bar = childish. Childishness = innocence. Dad was accuse od stealing innocence. Airi's innocence. Dad molested Airi. Wife left him, lost job, run out of town. Airi wants Satoru's dick becuase her Dad molested her.
>>
>>137140193
It's said from perpective of small girl memories. Airi probably didn't understand whole situation because she was too small.

They're not the ones with BLM movements, have Twilight as one of their bestsellers here and Trump as a front-runner in the Republican nominations. To them, you're just as weird. The age-old saying of 'different strokes for different folks' applies here.

I don't know if that is an error of the animation or encoding or some shit like that, but based on what I read of the manga, it could make sense.

>>137146658
I wonder how legit this interview is and if it would change the ending of the manga.
It basically says that for the director there are two heroines in the series but for the anime he's going to make Kayo the main one and focus more on her relationship with Satoru. It would explain the slow ass pacing and how hard they've pushing Kayo in official materials but there's no source for this so, who knows.

I only hope next week's episode is at least better produced than last one's.
>>
>>137150214
Pushing Kayo, to me, seems to be a mistake considering what ends up happening.
>>
>>137150735
That's what I think too unless the director decides to replace Airi with Kayo as Satoru's catalyst.

You knows that's the same shit as the manga, right? They push the loli for like 5 volume to kick her out of the picture in volume 7 and make the whole focus on her so pointless.

What's worse is in the end, the author don't give a shit about the murderer that much and he just went full Airi in like 2-3 chapter in volume 6-7, the plot is everywhere after the latter half of volume 6.

Sanbe Kei should care more about the murderer and give Airi more screen time, the plot around volume 6-8 really suck ball if you ask me.

Aoi Bungaku Episode 11
They do the spider thread story.
Pretty much that. Check it out.

Or just read the manga, although the manga doesn't do the spider thread story much justice.
>>
>>137150998
A shame, he seemed an honest man.
>>
>>137152635
Except that the endgame is already known because the manga is ahead of the anime. Airi is completely non-existent in the anime promos and merch which is absolutely strange for a main heroine.

Either way, I don't believe that interview at all and I'd rather wait to see how the anime will handle the adaptation.
>>
>>137152997
To use the parlance of the common man; Airi was pretty fucking based last episode. Apart from CHOCOLATE BAR of course.
>>
>>137152997
Yeah, I don't believe that interview either if anything it sounds bullshit to me.
>>
>>137153315
It doesn't sound like bullshit at all since it wouldn't be the first time a Director pushes his own interpretations in an adaptation. I don't believe it because the only source is 2channel, it must be fake.
