I played the game and can confirm both. Sad to say Haku never gave this many fucks about Kuon and took his orders with a "well, what can you do" attitude. Haku was a bit worried about her and didn't expect her to join him and was surprised when she did. He didn't look for her by any stretch.

The emperor trolling Haku and his court was a good scene. Plus they left out a nice interaction with Haku and his brother that would have been heart warming. They talk like brother to brother.

After watching and barely understanding bits and pieces of the game it seems to flow so much better with actual action scenes between most of the comfy. Kuon sides with Haku here; she's not against her home country, but she doesn't really expect them to lose so much here anyway. Meanwhile she has friends in Yamato as well that she loves, and wants to protect for now. Even if she has to protect them from her own country.

Yamato aren't the villains, there isn't a villain here. Also neither side has a definitive edge against the other, they can both fuck each other up potentially, which is why they're both cautious for now. They're not really going all in just yet on either side.

He'll then see Kuon on the other side and I cant even guess what will happen at that point.

I mean, even in episode 10. Haku was the one that was supposed to rescue Ange, not Oshutoru. And that serves as the emperor's excuse to give Haku the twins. They literally just had Munechika lie in the anime for that to happen.
