Even though I miss moot, hiro has been doing a pretty good job, I think.
Holy shit again this shit. This is no different from shit like OPM spam or redditgahara threads, you know. But gotta post it, after all, "no more moot" ri-right?
Didn't know they brought /fur/ back.
He told WWE faggots to fuck off to /asp/
This is what I feel as well. It even feels like he's straightened the moderation team up a bit (or has been trying to), even though every now and then you still get a rogue mod randomly acting on their own interests.
>did positive nothing for the site except run it in the few years leading up to his departure
>wanted underage to be allowed on blue boards
>said that captchas would be temporary
>spent most of his time drunkposting or doing le epic naruto trolls for attention in the last few years
>hired literal brony and reddit mods
>was a gigantic faggot who didn't even watch anime except for the occasional flavour of the month and old /v/core shows
>has done nothing wrong so far
>has implemented plenty of new boards to keep people happy, and while some have been flops none have really had a negative effect
>braindead children who couldn't take a joke and forced the whole asukawaifu thing onto moot in a cringy display of memelust
>/v/ermin and /b/tards who's idea of fun is screaming in all caps and seeing le epic shitstorms
>reasonable people who don't try to portray him as some kind of god, aside from the few trying to push the cute bunny meme
Now make it into a chart image with bullet points. Don't forget to use a fatass swimming in his own shit for 'moot fans' and a beautiful successful token businessman in a suit for 'hiro fans'.
>tries to nitpick over correct terminology
>thinks that taking his trip off will fool anybody when he's still obviously retarded
Please, keep going.
>fampai desu wa
Moot was a literal cuck and a shitposter.
I don't trush Hiro but anything is better than that piece of shit.
I worry that he's losing interest, which means he might sell 4chan. He hasn't been posting as much lately. For a while he was really pretty involved in the community and you could tell he was making an effort.
Now all he's doing is making trial boards and adding cute header messages like "You anon might like this" and stuff. Which I guess is still more than moot was doing for his last couple years.
Too many new boards, though. We don't need that much.
Hiro had a minor challenge pretty early on, actually. Do you remember the shooter who posted a threat in /r9k/? Hiro actually became a deputy of Oregon, in his words. Which of course in fluent English means something like he was working with law enforcement.
I fucking hope so.
>there are people on /a/ RIGHT NOW who have never shitposted under moot
It was a good concept. The bigger problem is that Western artists are fucking awful. I'm
friendswith an artist and he avoids that community like the plague. It was bound to fail because of the type of people that it would bring in.
To nips even 3D are loli, and the people asking for it fucked up explaining what they wanted. Hiro thinks we want /pedo/.
I think they just remove loli and shota from Rule 3, not like /d/ or /h/ will have a fit if people post loli.
Given the amount of normalfags that post in the porn boards, I'd be surprised if they didn't throw a fit. Doing what you said sounds like the more reasonable option for me as well, here's no need to make a whole new board for that.
As for SFW talk about lolis and loli manga, that should remain on /a/, unlike what certain few mods think.
You baselessly accuse my post to smell of reddit, whatever that may mean. So I ask you what you mean by that and you've got nothing other than the baseless accusation that I'm new.
So, do you have anything else?
desu normalfags give much less of a shit about loli than you might expect. /b/ is normalfag central and the loli threads there do fairly well.
Mixed in with the rest of the porn /d/ and /h/ would hardly notice a little loli.
>reddit tier bait
>argues about it afterwards
>I only have buzzwords
I want a sfw /littlegrill/ board, merely because they are the only source of cuteness in the real world and all we have is these whores on the internet that never even look close to cute yet people mislabel them as such, its getting annoying.
Of course this is a joke and I am in no way interested in a board like this.
i never liked moot
i'm glad that he is gone now
how do you explain this live footage of hiro at the scene?
I know one of you's moot!
Speak up damn it I know you're there!
Honestly, what is he doing right now? Back to college? Is he working? I'm worried.
Fuck off, pedo.
>already been a year
at least i'm wasting my life with company
Someone is fighting for you.
As long as you remember him,
You are not alone.
>new memes and new images and a new culture
If someone posts an inappropriate thread that a mod still wants to view, they'll move it to the trash. I've only ever seen it happen once with a porn thread, though.
Otherwise, furry bullshit.
>grandnephews and grandnieces
What is this guy trying to say? It started out decent and ended decent but the middle doesn't make sense.
Very few people browsing 4chan are oldfags, this website has changed a lot since its conception but I still like it/have nothing better to do.
Honestly, a lot of people posting here wouldn't like old 4chan posters, they were very very into their memes and injokes, even compared to now.
People who have been here a good while, even just 8 years ago was the hotel habbo attack and we were much different back then and even then that was the mid-way point between old and modern 4chan I think, more new really.
Just check out the old 4chan archives to see what I mean, there is a very noticeably different culture seen within them compared to now.
Same anon. I've been here
6years now, and I've seen this place change numerous times in large ways. I will forever consider myself a newfag, however. I post less and less with each passing year.
He hasn't changed global rule 3, which is the worst thing that in the history of 4chan, so so far Hiro is a complete failure. Until we have loli board, guro board, and be able to post guro and loli on red boards 4chan is a joke.
Probably gonna get drunk and listen to this whole thing on the 23rd one more time.
We'll be fine
I bet he would be willing to revise it, but the moderation team is keeping a close eye on him so her doesn't change 4chan completely. Remember the whole nipplemod fiasco and how /a/ almost became a red board, when all of a sudden a sticky was created?
moot probably never actually left 4chan and probably posts in Eva threads
>missing the point that 4chan has past its greatest hurdle and is probably as immortal as a website could ever hope to become
If any of you came here after 2004, you're newfags to somebody. If you came here after 2006, you're a double newfag to quite a few anons. If you came here after 2008, you're literal cancer. Etc, etc.
Furthermore, if you took a moment to look back on the "epic" culture of old, you'll notice how godawful it was in retrospect. Certainly "epic" at the time, but it's long been co-opted and so we've moved on. The images we post have changed, the jokes we tell have changed, the way we talk has changed, how we identify those who do not belong has change, and so on. All of it will continue to change.
I don't like the thought of anyone born after 2000 posting on here any more than you do, but it's life. There was probably a time when anons shuddered at the idea of anyone born after 1990 posting on 4chan, or online in general for that matter.
The World will change, but 4chan and Anons will endure.
>Drink as much as you'd like, there's enough Reifag tears to last years.
>1 year since moot, my dad, and dog died on the same day
Fucking hell 2015 was a shit year
Absolutely the worst year. And 2016 isn't looking much better.
Have I been here too long if I not only vividly remember that thread, but posted in it too? I don't remember what exactly I posted though.
The thread in the picture, genius.
baka desu senpai
This right here, is proof that Hiro is a fucking idiot who lets the mods/admins have free reign because he doesn't know enough English to understand our culture.
Moot would never implement a side-wide wordfilter for any longer than a month or so.
ah, it has..
The fact that people continue using those filtered terms (and sometimes even avoid the filter altogether) is what amazes me the most. It also makes me want to kill myself even more.
They can't quite seem to wrap their heads around the idea that every time they get open their mouth and something stupid comes out, that moronic moment is saved for all time and forever associated with their name and trip.
>Mixed in with the rest of the porn /d/ and /h/ would hardly notice a little loli.
The average penis in /d/ is bigger than a loli, so let's put them behind the dicks and no one will notice.
We had some fun times together, though.
It was done explicitly against the "sage goes in all fields" response. /a/ and /jp/ generally used it alright but other boards freaked the fuck out over it. Removing visible sage = coddling newfags instead of just explaining to them no it's not a fucking downvote.
moot banned so many people that day I doubt I can remember them all.
>hiro will never go on a drunken rampage throughout 4chan
Removing visible sage was one of the dumbest changes they made. Removing the email field was kind of stupid, too, but I'll be honest and say I only liked it for hidden messages.
I'm still salty about the board numbering change too, but it isn't as important as the other changes.
Board numbering doesn't really matter anymore to me, since I just use the catalog.
The only number that matters is Page 10. All that nonsense about "funny maymay on the front page!" just became less and less funny as time went on.
I like /his/ and /news/.
I've had actual conversations on /news/ without memes. It was insane.
/his/ is more of an offshoot of /k/ to me. Both are pretty good.
I like /trash/ only because I can link people to it.
Still waiting on a /manga/ board. Manga threads are the best on /a/ anyway.
Let me tell you something, only /a/ likes moot and cried when moot left because it's the only place on 4chan that moot didn't drive to the ground.
Give me another board that likes moot. There are none.
Good riddance you faggot for ruining /co/ in particular.
>you will never hold Asuka
>you will never hold moot
/co/ did it to themselves. They weren't aggressive enough with their anger. /a/ is the only large board that doesn't sound like newfag/reddit shit constantly.
I think the battle has already been lost. I don't even browse currently airing anime threads anymore. There's too many shitposters in them now. You can see how badly a manga can be ruined by animeonly posters. Look at Nisekoi. It was always terrible, but the manga threads were actually fun. Everyone was otters. Now, there's almost no one in the threads anymore because of the influx of animeonlyfags.
Excuse me? /co/ ruined itself by being a breeding ground for the cancer of western "fandom"-ism. moot wanted generals to be banned entirely, wanted to end RP and fanfiction, and tried to do his best to quarantine you know damn well what.
The reason why every board besides /a/ hates moot is because every board besides /a/ is unnecessary and merely exists as a way to supplement /a/.
I certainly like and frequent a lot of other boards and do not believe /a/ is all the site should ever be, but if 4chan were ever reduced to being only /a/ and /b/ once more, the site would be shaken but not broken. However, remove /a/ and/or /b/, and suddenly everything about what 4chan would become would be so contrary to its original purpose and founding culture that it would no longer be the 4chan it was previously.
If what I have said has made you mad or you're about to type up some response about /a/ elitism, well you've just proven my point. moot liked /a/ because we were what he originally envisioned 4chan to be. Maybe his interest in anime waned and he matured over time, but every time he shitposted here, he was doing what he created 4chan to do.
If you wonder why moot did not like /co/, /tg/, or /v/ in the same way he liked /a/, or why /co/, /tg/, or /v/ did not like moot the way /a/ does; the simple answer is that /a/ is the only one that is made up of people who belong on 4chan and the rest are just newfag cancer who should go back to their bulletin forums.
Time flies fast. I still remember that stream of Code Geass we had in moots honor, that felt like it was 2007 again.
The whole year felt like it was summer full of shitposting and only recently that hell stopped.
Lot's of meta and /blog/ nowadays though.
A quarantine cannot be ruined.
Once again, all boards that ruined themselves. You cannot blame moot for people posting generals and quest threads that were banned within 30 minutes over and over again for months until the mod staff gave into public demand and said "well, if that's what people want, let them have it".
There was a sadpanda thread with 500 posts yesterday. What are you on about?
If you think /c/, /e/, /h/, /d/, or that new abomination /aco/ are for discussion, you miss the point of those boards entirely. They're for imagedumps, not discussion. You can talk a little, but the board is so people can share images with each other first and foremost. Almost as if this place is an "imageboard" or something.
However, /d/ is currently a mess and has been for some time. But that's the fault of a certain moderator, not moot himself.
It was always shit. ALWAYS.
You are deluded.
The reason why these places were ruined was because moot couldn't properly manage the boards with his life.
While /a/ is the special snowflake board where it was moderated nicely thoughout it's existence, other boards either have shitty moderation or virtually no moderation.
Maybe in /a/, if you told someone to fuck off, they would because the mods delete said threads.
Meanwhile in other boards, you tell someone to fuck off, they don't because the thread reaches 500 posts without the mods cleaning up at all.
Other boards never had the privilege of getting good moderation like Kinomod, etc.
I pay my fair share on a yearly basis.
Imagine what trying to moderate /vg/ is like, though.
>They're for imagedumps, not discussion
You can't dump half of hentai related images even on a hentai board. Guro\loli\furry etc. 4chan is awful for discussing and sharing hentai because of that retarded rule.
Most of /tg/'s death came from Nazimod's mass banning of anybody respectable.
/a/'s to blame partially, though. You fuckers dumped your quest threads on us when we were already drowning in a million varieties of Waifushit Quest #232: No Illustrations Edition.
I don't mind a little blog here and there, because honestly, sometimes it's relevant enough to discussion to be justifiable, and even when it's not, we have a long history of blogging cropping up -like the shit that always goes on in imouto threads. I guess it's hard to draw a precise line.
I agree that there's been some mysterious improvement in quality very recently and I can't tell if it's residual good spirit from the holidays, the beginning of a new season, or an indication that the dark cloud hanging over this board for the past 3 years is finally starting to clear.
>/a/'s to blame partially, though. You fuckers dumped your quest threads on us
What you have to understand about people bringing up anime outside of /a/ is that they're typically the people we don't want. That's why they bring it up there instead of here. They probably tried to pull their shit here and got shit on by everyone so they ran away crying to a board with enough shitty posters to accept them.
i'm not talking about western fandom, i'm talking about how hentai discussion is censored because of that rule. Sort of like loli is banned site-wide because in the olden days people used to spam CP a lot.
I think that's why they hate him.
He dropped a bomb on them when he said that.
It was basically like when he removed captcha and post timers from /pol/ and added an announcement telling everyone to try it out, but a bit more subtle.
/b/ is the P-trap of 4chan. It exists to attract all of the shit on the rest of the internet and keep it from going somewhere important.
I really don't know why you'd ever go on /b/ to begin with. What topic could there be that is not covered by some other board? Even the simple act of shitposting can be far better fulfilled on [s4s] than /b/. /b/ is only for people who are dumb enough or new enough (not that you are either of those) to believe /b/ is worth browsing.
And even if there was some moment in time when /b/ had "the right kind of shit", how exactly could we possibly return to such a period? /b/'s raison d'etre is that it has very limited rules compared to the rest of the site and absolutely no topic. Would you suggest that /b/ gets more rules to improve quality? How exactly could we prevent normalfags from posting their shit?
I mean, we can't exactly stop anyone from posting unless they're violating a rule.
Oh. And now the truth comes out.
I only go on /b/ to auto-download more lewd loli
>I really don't know why you'd ever go on /b/ to begin with
Because it's LITERALLY the only RED (NSFW) board that allows every kind of porn? Fuckwit. That's the problem. Hiro\moot are both retarded until they fix it.
/b/ used to be kind of like the gateway of 4chan, as in by lurking for some time in there you got enough experience to notice the other boards, and then after lurking for some time on them you had a basis for how this place works. I don't ever want to touch that place again but I doubt it's still like that, and since lurking culture is dead you get people who act like they own the place when it's their first day all the time everywhere and nobody bats an eye to them most of the time. It's depressing.
As to the other post you quoted, I agree with that anon but I wish furry shit remained banned (either the current way or enforced by mods) just out of humor, like that time with /fur/. Not that such a thing would ever happen again given the existence of /trash/ now.
From what I understand /b/ was historically a filter. It attracted outsiders and if they were disgusted they'd leave, but if they could handle it they'd eventually branch out to another board after going through the /b/ initiation.
That doesn't apply anymore because /b/ is normalfag central and won't scare anyone away anymore. It also doesn't attract anyone anymore so really it fails on all fronts.
>From what I understand /b/ was historically a filter.
I'm afraid you don't really get it, anon. You couldn't be further off-base
Lurking might help, but I don't really have much hope for you.
At a point in time, I think this was correct. I certainly went through this. I didn't come straight to /a/. /b/ sort of got you used to memes and imageboard culture in general.
I haven't been on /b/ in forever, but my occasional glances make it seem like it's not what it used to be. Maybe I'm just seeing it through the eyes of someone who has browsed other boards for a long time, but it seems very different.
/fit/ has become /soc/2.0 at this point. There are a lot of underage fuckboys there.
I used to browse /fit/ back when I first started lifting, but there's a lot of garbage there now.
>go to /b/
>immediately see spam of unwashed wrinkling vaginas and cuck porn
Yeah, what a great board. They're free to stay there and post their shit, but if you think that's something profound or noteworthy, I pity you.
Again, much better ways to do it somewhere else. And I do agree that the porn boards are a mess and certain individuals need to be told that the board isn't their personal porn folder.
Oh? Do enlighten us, because from my experience >>136449006 and >>136449011 are both spot on.
I can quite freely post whatever I please on 4chan right now without ever needing to go on /b/. If your argument is "but we get to post lot's of porn there", then so fucking what? Pornography dumping is not the end all be all of 4chan. If your argument is some sort of Hunter S. Thompson "there was madness in any direction, any hour" bullshit, then kindly go back to 2008 where such ideological masturbation belongs.
The fact is that /b/'s quality has always depended on the people who post there, just like any other board, and guess what? The people who post there are awful normalfags and if the board is shit then /b/tards only have themselves to blame. You go there. You stay in that pile of shit and contribute to it. Go somewhere else.
You know how you used to play that one MMO ten years ago when you were still a teen and had a lot of fun, but eventually you and pretty much all of your friends quit the game and moved on with your life? Except that one guy who still plays the game and occasionally you still hear from him and all he talks about the game and the good times you all had together and tries to get you to play the game again? You're being the equivalent of that guy here.
Yeah, I'm with you. I actually don't really browse /fit/ a whole much anymore, but I still call myself a /fit/izen. I owe my life to that place, even if it is a shell of it's former self
It's /a/ related because it's about an /a/ event.
And now you're upset, adorable.
Maybe when you've lurked for a few years you won't still be new enough to cry over /b/.
>Can't believe it's been a year.
Are you absolutely sure?
It has happened to a lot of the more popular boards. /a/ is included in that.
I think only the small boards kept the same quality that 4chan used to have. /ck/ and /an/ are both really fun. It's just unfortunate that the boards that are dedicated to my main hobbies are going down the tubes.
Time waits for no one.
I remember I had the heart to uplift an /a/non from suicide the exact year ago today. Before I had a response, my electricity cut off for unpaid bills.
What a strange feeling those hours were, disconnected at a critical moment and day.
Checked the archives afterwards, I believe some other /a/non took over. I don't remember what I said but it was genuine. Wonder if that anon is still here today. Probably not. But thats okay. it's okay. .. 大丈夫だから
>can't defend his own shitty board
>resorts to memes
Oh yeah, we're the ones trying to fit in.
/b/ is an ideal that never actually existed. To try to continue to propagate that ideal is to not only to prove yourself to be what you claim others are, or worse yet are a relic of a very sad chapter in our site's history.
I used to believe in the whole /b/ Anonymous with a capital A culture shit. Thank God I grew out of it.
The fact is it doesn't really matter if this poster here >>136449406 joined in 2013 or this poster over here >>136449115 joined yesterday or >>136448872 joined in 2003 on day 1. What does matter is that /b/ is a completely failed experiment and its ideology has been proven wrong time and time again.
Now I'd love to have a discussion with you about /b/'s history and current quality, but in order to do that I kinda require for some arguments to be made on the other side of things. Which none yet exist, other than /b/ accepts any non-illegal content which includes a wide variety of porn. I'm sure you have an argument, but it's not well represented with "you're just new" or "you don't get /b/".
There's nothing for me to "get" about /b/ because there's nothing on /b/ that interests me. It's like saying I don't "get" /g/ because I don't understand computers. So what?
However, unlike /g/ or /k/ or /ck/ or any other interest board I don't take an interest in, /b/ is an empty canvas people have made a habit of throwing shit on. All day, every day. Without stop. There's nothing about /b/ worth browsing, no discussion worth having. And the problem with /b/ isn't the empty canvas, it's the shit being thrown at it.
I'd rather talk to /a/ or /his/ or /tg/.
I can't believe it has been a year already. It really felt like it was only a couple months ago. I suppose that time accelerates as you get older.
RIP moot. I hope he (and you anon) have been enjoying life.
One of the highlights of this place was moot fucking with the board every once in a while. I always looked forward to his monthly shenanigans.
>JIBUN WOOOOO and How I Got Rejected by Asakawa Yuu
I wish Hiro did this too but he hasn't posted in a while. Maybe he's at Sundance though.
I can't believe it has already almost been a year.
>I'll need time away to decompress and reflect, but I look forward to one day returning to 4chan as its Admin Emeritus or just another Anonymous
Come on. If he hasn't already, he'll come back to shitpost alongside us eventually. You're here forever, right?
Lots of suicidal anons lately.
Can't understand where is an actual silent cry for help and where is just desire to complain and need for a hug.
I disagree. There's been the first manga in a while that actually got notice in a while, Helck. Despite not being all that interested myself, it sort of blew up. Before that Dungeon Meshi, but translations are thin now. Lots of manga don't get adaptations and all the mangafags move around quietly, but there's lots of them still around. And without the mangafags, that's just asking for /a/ to turn into a shitpile. Lots of the animeonlyfags think that
Is some sort of meme that only newfags do because somehow streaming is better when it's manga, when it's probably worse if you're reading on mangafox. They also don't get that all these reader sites are full of underage retards, which is also part of the reason people have done and will always do it.
I remember the utter fear that gripped the site when Hiro got in charge. We all thought it was the end. At least things continue for now and we can be confident in things remaining the same.
The problem is not crossboarding, it's posting on one board as if you were somewhere else, just like all those guys going "kek" or using those accursed Twitter acronyms everywhere they go.
And then he acted like a clueless little girl on the first day and most people started liking him. It was fun.
Yeah, but that doesn't necessarily explain why people on /a/ took an interest in it. There's plenty of manga that get short bursts of releases, but most of them go under the radar.
>DON'T YOU GET IT
>HE'S ACTING ENDEARING AND CLUELESS AND THEN HE'LL STAB US IN THE BACK
>HE'S MINING OUR DATA
>IT'S OVER OUR PERSONAL INFORMATION IS BEING SOLD
>Are you finished with those banners
Such a laugh. We were trying to get new banners for the longest time.
It's extremely popular in urasunday so there's that. I've noticed the influx of threads about it recently too but it really feels like it came out of nowhere for /a/ itself.
>I didn't think so may posts come...
>It's too long to grab my scroll bar.
And of course, the classic.
Kinda feel bad that people will remember Highlights because of threads like this.
Anon, please. Everyone knows that's Anthem of the Heart.
Shinkai's latest work is the Keit-Ai adaptation.
when will it ever die
/aco/ is the only new board that actually could serve a purpose. But shitty mods still won't enforce pruning /aco/ content off the Jap porn boards and I'm certain /b/ won't stop their r34 threads so it's functionally pointless.
/trash/ is the worst idea for a board since /s4s/ and I can't even fathom where the idea for /wsr/ came from.
I want to like Hiro, but he's so ignorant of the site.
I still can't believe he answered one of my questions.
What the fuck does this pic even mean?
Why the fuck is it still up?
I think that came from complaints from some people that mods were way too eager to hand out bans for low quality threads. I don't understand /trash/'s purpose either, but I have noticed that I have not been banned for a while. I expect some irony to follow after making that statement, but usually I'd be banned every 3 months or so for some minor violation. But it's been going on nine months and I'm starting to get worried that the bar got dropped lower. Lord knows my posting quality hasn't improved.
Literally came from recommendationfags on /qa/. Said /r/ was useless and unhelpful. So Hiro made another /r/, the absolute madman.
People forget this. People forget what Touhou once was and in some ways still is.
There's not even Flanfly posts at 3AM anymore, and haven't been ever since the purge. Check yourself, /jp/ is gone.
Just looking up deleted posts in the /a/rchive usually gives a general idea of the kind of shit that janitors and mods delete and perhaps ban.
I kinda like it - adds a little decoration to the front page - but I wish he'd change the photo every so often. Or make it some kind of scrapbook-esque collage.
The addition of longcat was a bit... anachronistic. But I hope we get similar additions every so often. The space shuttle picture needs to be smaller for that to happen, though.
Hiroshima was moots final troll gift for us.
What the fuck is this sick perversion, heresy, and slander?
>That foundation will now be put to the ultimate test, as today I'm retiring as 4chan's administrator.
He even comments that the rest of the staff already perform his duties by then. Unless you want to count from September, since that's when Hiroyuki was officially announced as the new admin.
Depends on whether you have 20 bucks to spend once a year on being able to avoid something.
I sometimes forget that there is or ever was a captcha. It's street signs now, right? Or food? I think google's advertising via captcha now. Or slowly moving towards it. "Pick out the McDonalds Big Mac" type stuff.
But again, whether 20 bucks is worth it depends on the anon. I consider it to be an honest investment, but you might consider it a scam.
>I don't get what's up with that way of posting there but I think I love it.
A dangerous and worrying statement.
Checking the bans page is always fun for me. I find it quite interesting to see what mods ban and decide to show on that page.
>Certainly "epic" at the time, but it's long been co-opted and so we've moved on
Isn't that the point? 4chan isn't meant to be a static thing, that's why threads die after they reach the bump limit and general threads are such cancer. Sure, there are a few ideas that endure, but constant change is at the very core of the site's structure and culture.
>4chan isn't meant to be a static thing, that's why threads die after they reach the bump limit and general threads are such cancer.
I don't even like the 2-day archive system that was added.
It's useful if you are an avid shitposter.
You can think of it as buying BD's to support though. You don't even need to activate it.
I prefer having the captcha on because it forces having a second thought before posting.
>4chan-X which no one really uses much anymore
Surely that's not the case. The inline extension and 2 day archive aren't enough to replace the functionality of it. Everyone has to still be using some fork of it, right?
I use adblock, so I justify the pass as my way of supporting the site.
But that's a lie, I know I'm just a lazy fuck that doesn't want to deal with captcha and am willing to part with 20 bucks to do it.
Honestly, I think all the "convenient" features added to the site over the years like increased bump/image limits, pages, and catalog has inadvertently made the site worse in some ways.
Speaking of worrying about /a/, has anyone else noticed how threads are getting bumped off the board really quickly today? They usually take around one hour to die without replies, or up to 2 at this time, but most of them are dying in 30 minutes or less right now.
One hour is perfect, tell people to stop making new threads. I'm scared, I don't want /a/ to become a fast board.
The archive system was yet another thing that moot resisted but people wanted badly enough that the admins just let them have their way.
Pretty much every board was already archived off site anyway.
Also, I'm pretty sure 4chan extensions are commonplace. Maybe not universal, but nothing is these days. Some people even have some crazy virtual waifu setups. One screenshot I saw reminded me of a Myspace profile. Weird shit, but I guess that's what happens when you make something completely customizable.
Although, it is sad that good extensions like 4chanX don't get talked about much. We just kinda get so use to them until we start thinking ours is the default experience. Imagine not being able to have a custom board navigation on the top bar? Or not being able to filter or read deleted posts? I could never go back.
I miss the /a/-specific terminology that people would constantly ask about. Just recently there would be images trying to explain the concept of moe, but we haven't had anything new like that in a while.
Hell, we even abandoned NTR for cuck. It's like we're losing board culture to site culture at the same time we're losing site culture to internet culture and internet culture is becoming normalfag bullshit.
I would definitely agree with catalog, though the site wasn't completely fractured with pages. It made way for generals and/or individuals to find their specific threads and block out everything else. The community has become too disjointed.
A lot of people disagree and feel it improved the site in many ways but I personally feel that was a major part of the issue. Generals as a whole, especially for series that are no longer airing or rarely receiving translations/chapter releases. I would almost say it was effective in reducing the chaotic posting for popular airing shows (which was a lot of fun anyways) but after KlK and a few others, I'm not so sure about that.
Wasn't it 3rd? Or has that slowed down?
>we even abandoned NTR for cuck
This one thing worries me, i left /a/ for months after
Narutoended and only came back once when Moot left and suddenly things started to change.
It hasn't slowed much. The other boards just got faster. /int/ and especially /pol/ which allegedly quadrupled in traffic looking at the stats in the last year. But that was after a drop. But being the most pro-Trump place on the internet is actually terrifying because it's starting to draw attention.
All of the small boards I used to use have been overrun by generals and newfag circlejerking. They're just too calm to resist when things take a turn for the worse.
At least /f/ will never have to worry about that.
"We" didn't abandon anything, anyone who says cuck instead of NTR gets shat on whenever there aren't only new people around. At least as far as I've noticed.
It's your job to tell cuck posters to fuck right off as well, you can't let crossboarders get too comfortable.
Given that previously mentioned limit of about one hour without posts I find it hard to believe that's still the case.
/f/ is a bit too unique to ever be infiltrated. 2hu Tuesdays and Thursgays combined will keep out pretty much anyone who isn't willing to be a part of the culture.
It is sad to see some of the boards that were interesting to lurk fall, though. /diy/ is one that fell fast and hard.
During the day (sometimes) I revert back to the Yotsuba B theme to get the true experience. Are you talking about mascots and such? Pretty common if you see /g/ or /w/ desktop threads.
Also a reminder there's this
>It's like we're losing board culture to site culture at the same time we're losing site culture to internet culture and internet culture is becoming normalfag bullshit.
Thankfully we got lucky enough to have a Jap put in as admin and one of the first things he did was to cause normies all over /pol/ to start posting kek, desu, senpai, and baka involuntarily. God that butthurt was great.
I think it's less that /a/ slowed down and more like other boards sped up. I haven't noticed /a/ being faster or slower. Just stagnant. We're all kinda waiting for the next Haruhi or Code Geass to electrify the board, but it'll never come again.
However, I know for a fact /pol/ has sped up majorly. That's where the shit normalfag memes like cuck or the black twitter shit is coming from. I like to talk politics on /pol/, but I don't like the crowd that's becoming more and more frequent on /pol/. At least there's been some pushback with "make anime great again".
I don't know how you could. It's no secret the ad revenue is thin and the budget barely breaks even. In order to bring in more revenue, you'd have to do something novel with the site, like streaming and getting ad revenue from that. Not that such a thing should happen, but you can't get money on banner ads alone anymore.
>And people used to say it was one of the best boards?
That's a good sign that the end is near.
Probably a bunch of people heard that and migrated. If you check the catalog you'll see that it's mostly newcomers asking stupid questions instead of people actually trying to talk with other diy-ers about projects.
Wait is it? Have the words gotten so blurred together that they mean the same thing now?
Shit, I thought it started as being where normalfags were pic related and normies were people who weren't normalfags irl and wished they were.
Wasn't normies /r9k/ being their own pathetic selves and missusing the word?
>people who weren't normalfags irl and wished they were
I doen't remember someone making a term for that but some anons said failed normalfag.
can moot comeback anytime soon?
2 admins in charge would be better for 4chan
Look, I don't know the official definition for "normie" or "normalfag", but I understand the /r9k/ connotations of the former. In my head, they're the same concept, one is just used alongside the angry Pepe meme.
As to why I wrote 'normie", it was just a mental slip. I wasn't paying attention. The intent behind the word had nothing to do with the /r9k/ sour grapes mentality. The problem is those individuals who make stupid remarks when they see an anime related reaction image in what they consider to be a non-anime zone. It's ridiculous, like saying we cannot have a western cartoon reaction image on /a/.
it is a legit phenomenon that time does feel like it accelerates as you get older - this isn't in your head (well, it is, but you know what I mean).
Something to do with the ever increasing bulk of time behind you warping your sense of progression.
I can only imagine how terrible it would feel to be 100, or 1000, or 1,000,000 with this feeling.
moot didn't even like the external archives. He was okay with the voting one, but he knew keeping track of every single piece of shit posted here was a waste of time and fucking retarded. I preferred it when the only things keeping old posts alive were our memories and screenshots. It helped filter things out.
>We just kinda get so use to them until we start thinking ours is the default experience
It throws me for a loop any time I go to 4chan on a new machine and get thrown into the default stuff. 4chanX + oneechan has spoiled me.
And whenever people mention obnoxious tripfags that I filtered years ago. That's probably what surprises me the most
"normie" is the pc version of "normalfag" normalfags use to make themselves feel like special snowflakes.
>"Man, look at those normies going out to clubs and shit! I prefer to stay home with my gf and watch something Netflix."
What's changed is the attitude of new people in the internet in general. The concept of lurking is dead as fuck, just like forums. That's not really a fault of the younger people as much as just a natural step in the evolution of the internet. Now you have so many outlets on the internet, with more then 5 times as many people browsing them as opposed to 8-10 years ago. Everything moves much more rapidly than before and if you're not there in that moment you pretty much missed it. Thus people are not willing to lurk for months or a year before getting involved with a community because 6 months is years in internet time. It's sad, but that's just a natural step in the growth of the internet.
It's like I'm really watching Aquarion Logos again.
I've noticed that 4chan tends to shield itself from this by using whatever the rest of the internet is not using.
I hardly see "lol" anymore unless it's intended to be ironic. Same with "epic" or "lulz". When something gets co-opted, we move on to the next thing.
The other thing that happens with language change is people start preferring shorter ways to say things. Probably why whatever-fag is so versatile.
>calling boards as "forums"
They'd call them "subs" instead. Forums are not a thing anymore. Reddit ate all of them. You even have major companies acknowledging subreddits as "official forums" and giving random power hungry neckbeards on the internet value they don't deserve.
>There was a time where /r9k/ was taken seriously
>They seriously thought they could inspire uprising like some dollar bin ISIS
>Months later nothing changed
Damn it, and here I was thinking I can bully some robots into murder suicide, weeping about their narcisstic beliefs and self loathing.
"lol" is starting to return just because the rest of the internet as well as teenagers have moved on to using "kek" or other 3 letter niggerspeak. lol has been losing popularity rapidly. Soon it'll be hipster again.
There's nothing more infuriating than watching your homeboard die. Newfags telling you to fuck off for not accepting their ebin crossboard memes and complete misunderstanding of board culture is the worst feeling.
>purely to shitpost
Most things start like that these days. However, as the internet is huge a lot more retards interpret shitposting terms and adopt them as the normal. See cuck, desu, etc etc
Threads about old games can be decent sometimes. i should probably check out /vr/.
/a/ has never been friendly, how long have you been here? Shit, if your waifu isn't another guy's waifu, and you're not talking about only anime that is airing RIGHT THE FUCK NOW, you may as well gtfo /a/, because no one will want to talk to you here. Even /v/ isn't that bad in comparison, but that board is /b/ without the porn and gore and all the memes.
I think a number of anons might still have Facebooks solely because of the original AC promotion for free mousepads.
That first promotion was quite some time ago and is still in the spam filter.
