I'm 16 eps in and I really don't know what to expect of the ending when people say it's sad. Well, only makes me want to finish it more I guess.

I didn't think AnoHa was that good but that last scene tore me to bits. I think Secret Base helps a lot, kinda like how Dango makes Clannad worse.

I didn't find Angel Beats sad at all, I thought it was nice to see people finding peace and moving on with no regrets.

Anime has many, many different flavours of tearjerking but in the end if you're not actually invested in the story, it won't mean a thing. Even though a relationship like parents and children, or first/best love, or a boy and his dog might all seem like they have universal appeal and you may think your favorite is universal because "it does it so well", they're really intensely personal experiences.

I like pets better than people, so let's say Eien no with, since there's no good anime about that.

A boy falls in love with a story premise.
