What are /a/ thoughts with Mai-Hime in general
After twelve years does it still remain special with 4chan
new characters or old character reprise as main ones
Watched it back when it aired. Don't remember much.
Besides pic related being the best girl
It's still one of my favorite series, it holds up even after rewatching.
Fujino a shit
Otome characters were pretty cool too. Can't say the same about the actual show.
>Will Sunrise ever return to the Mai series
Of course, they've been working on it for awhile now.
For 12 long years
If they are working on it for 12 years then there's huge promise and you know what it's not too late to reveal the good stuff about new Mai-series
Always keep believing were getting close
HIME - Anime
Otome - Manga
We've been over it enough times, its easy enough. The Otome manga is pretty great even if the anime falls flat.
Starts off feeling a bit cliche, but pretty soon it really hits its stride.
Any speculah on the new Mai series whether plans for a continuation or reboot
Continuation project would be more interesting and good character development on HiME's path to wherever they wind up in or after Fuuka Academy.
>tfw I still remember being hyped when this trailer came out.
Too bad I didn't watch Hime with /a/. Watching Otome with /a/ was pretty fun, though.
Hime is better, but both are pretty shit, honestly.
One of my favorites. I returned to anime with it (hiatus after Slayers).
Natsuki is the best. Dis ass!
I would suck his dick.No homo.
I seconded this.
and it's by same creators who did UNiEL right
Can't wait for Steam PC port soon
>Taisen was trash
will you watch 2016 version
It has gotten better
What bothered me about Hime and Otome was just how quickly the mood just swung from light-hearted and friendly to dramatic and tragic only to deus ex out of it at the end
makes Code Geass feel like a spiritual successor
It seems like people are trying to revive it as a relevant thing along with Code Geass but right now it's crystal clear the big topics in the Western community that posts on the internet are whatever Kyoani is doing, whatever A-1 is doing, whatever Shaft is doing. Fate, Monogatari and Madoka. Sunrise couldn't buy attention these days for one of their shows Mai-Hime or otherwise unless it's for thread shitting purposes like a Gundam series. Modern /a/ would probably label it too shonen, action-filled and not philosophically pretentious enough in a post Madoka landscape.
The only thing Sunrise Studio 8 really seems to have on the table are Sunshine and Accel World and it's a miracle the latter is even happening. Sunrise doesn't do much for late night TV these days, most of the shows they'd have probably handled in the past get farmed out to A-1 instead while they focus on their own general audience oriented IPs.
The only thing that I remember now about Hime is that i was angry a the ending
where they resurrected all characters
And Otome was good.
It's time for rewatch
And I still fap to Mai after all those years
Only reason why Mai-HiME still relevant in Sunrise minds because of the pachinko success and whatever western influence kept the franchise afloat.Mai-HiME holds a huge purpose with the Studio 8 and the fans.
Modern /a/ would love to shit on everything that's how they roll.
>After twelve years does it still remain special with 4chan
Nagi-kun is still my husbando.
I liked Mai-HiME because Mai was a reasonable, likable person in unreasonable circumstances. That's also why the early deaths had such an impact -- they were such a gut punch to people who didn't deserve them. That aspect of character development would still play well these days, with so many anime stuck on paint-by-numbers fetish checklist casts.
But Otome doubled down on the other popular parts of the show (lesbians, flashy battles, little girls), so I'm not sure a new HiME would be able to stand out among other modern anime.
>so I'm not sure a new HiME would be able to stand out among other modern anime.
Mai Hime continuation would hold well to today anime.Sunrise waited for a good 12 years to make something special out of the Mai-franchise.
Worst part is Kaijura will never get her groove her back because she's been sucked out by SAO franchise
I'm looking forward to who's new composer for new Mai-Hime series
