You may love or hate the series, but you'd be lying if you said you didn't think at least one of them was adorable/fuckable/fetish fuel.
And so today we will have a thread to celebrate and gawk at them all. They are all best girl, and arararagi is one lucky fictional bastard
a couple of group shots to get us going.
For me, its crab, cat, monkey, and monkey again. i like broken, bitchy girls, what can i say.
She should've been created when the popularity of the series was at it's peak.
It's ok, I love her
its been said that everything is eventually gonna get animated, but I dont know if they meant only the original series or all its off shoots. fingers crossed, some of those wazamono stories sound interesting
yeah, snake is the only exception. but she is a pretty interesting character, and she has the top tier seiyuu, so she's still kind of best.
dear god. how/why did he not molest the monky in that burning school building, i do not know
Zoku will certainly be animated, I'm more worried about Oroka, and by the time Sodachi's conclusion happens later in the novels the anime would certainly not be profitable anymore.
this thread is suffering from a crab deficiency
Isn't Shaft getting ready to go back to their main cash cow Madoka though?
and yeah the off season LNs don't have much of a chance of being animated I think, not all of them anyway
what with kizu actually coming out and two more on the way, I'm not sure madoka is the cash cow anymore. they seem to be really into this shit right now - owari1 last season, kizu movie and koyomimono at the same time.
i guess it depends on how long this keeps being profitable. if the nips keep eating it up, we might see literally everything adapted by the time we're dead, if he ever stops writing
This is the face of a man who'd love Crab
to just get off his car already
Snake was interesting as a character in Nadeko Medusa
that alone puts her above Crab who is dull through and through, Duraragi has a more engaging relationship with almost every other chick in the cast
It's not Shaft that decides, and Madoka airing never prevented them from doing Monogatari. It would be stupid to believe they'd stop a safe 20K seller in the middle of the "ending" with just one season left.
imagine waking up next to this angel. fuck you, cat
That's just rude. redditgahara would be disappointed in you.
I love all of them honestly.
I would say I'm a Catfag, but I actually love her more for her character whereas I find Crab and adult Bat to be infinitely more fuckable with their personalities and body-type. Similarly, just as people find Snake's personality detestable yet absolutely fuckable, I'm the reverse in that I love her character but don't find her sexually-arousing compared to say, Bird or Math which just oozes cute and sexy for me.
Then again, I also find
Kagenui, Izuko and Ougito be pure sex and I'd love to see more of them, so maybe I'm just weird like that.
Ougi is universally loved. She brought true meaning to the word spookycute, and even has her own consistent copypasta.
cat IS disappointed you referred to her best friend with that awful slur
>imagine waking up next to this angel
Is this before or after she rapes me?
wow thats lewd. addicted to the deep yoko yoko kissu
>and even has her own consistent copypasta.
Which one is that?
I agree. She's a very strong character, but feels somehow "different" to the other girls (with the possible exception of snail).
What are you talking about? Cat loves to use it as a pet name!
I want Ougi to put her sleeves close to my erect dick.
Then, I want her sleeves to slowly descend over my erect manhood so that I can feel her soft, pale hand stroke my dick as I ejaculate all over the insides of her sleeves.
I don't want to see her hands though.
imagine this, but from the all grown up one.
okay, now go change your underwear.
So after Kizu is old news.
What is /a/'s opinion?
I don't remember that pasta from any of the Owari threads.
i wonder how many anon's are going to cry when they see her again next weekend. are people even aware of her imminent reappearance?
>that awkwardly angry reaction to rrragi poking her
she's too cute
also her VA does a fantastic job
The artstyle in this still looks sorta strange to me
God I love how toned the gatari girls are.
>okay, now go change your underwear.
Are you tricking me right now anon? It's not nice to bully gullible people like this. I'm positive I saw it in every Owari thread I read.
dem superior character designs
I was in almost every Owari thread from episode 2 onwards, and I recall seeing that maybe once.
Your plight is not a new one. Now quit being an autist and join us in our never ending best girl debates.
>that awkwardly angry reaction to rrragi poking her
God that was too cute, I had to watch it again.
The look a bit too "cold" for me. Where's the love?
I always liked how badass rararagi looks in this picture
Math is in my top 3. I love silver hair, twin tails and uncontrollable emotions.
>I was in almost every Owari thread from episode 2 onwards, and I recall seeing that maybe once.
Not a slight against you but it was all over other Monogatari threads too at the time that Owari was airing.
I guess there's nothing left for us to do but fight to the death.
I don't know, the pink color filter/palette felt like an instant turn-on honestly.
Quite a few great girls. Here's best girl.
>tfw self-sustaining lifestyle combined with a desperate need for some cuddling
I would absolutely
Considering that it's getting a limited American release, will subs and decent quality torrents become available faster than originally expected?
I am literally going to
shadow bond withShinobu.
Oh - well, how about we just keep posting gatari girls and call it a day?
So we're talking months and months and months, as originally expected?
Too bad no one will ever take responsibility for her since Nisio enjoys hurting characters he likes.
Just a bit too much ballast for my liking, but I can see where you're coming from.
What is/was the US theatre release date? (I'm not American).
Rewatch the series with as many of the commentaries as you can get your hands on. Then rewatch it again to see how all the information you got in later arcs applies to the earlier arcs.
The Nisio ride never ends. We're doomed to reside in these threads until he finally draws a line under the series (i.e. never).
At first I thought he was just an insufferable autistic bitch, but after knowing the rest of her story everything kind of redeemed her. I judged her too harshly, she's better than average.
>Then rewatch it again to see how all the information you got in later arcs applies to the earlier arcs.
I'm not doing that until all the main arcs have been animated. I'll take a few days off work and powerdrive through the series in chronological order.
And I guess DVD sales would be a long time coming after that even if Aniplex is involved directly?
I want Shinobu to bite my neck. I want to feel her cute teeth stab me like needles of love.
Jesus Christ, I don't expect to even live that long.
Sounds funnier to me if that B stands for Bum. Still though, protocol states that we have to go with DFA.
Incidentally I actually prefer ponytail Bee, but then again I'll prefer almost any character in ponytail mode.
I know that she's not as loved as the other girls but I'll be damned if Izuko's exposed shoulders and hair-draped-over-one-eye look didn't turn me on every time she appeared.
I guess it kinda helps that I marathoned Owari so it made her monologues much more bearable for me.
Well, the question would be if Aniplex releases the Kizu parts together or if they are releasing it also in three parts.
Though I kind of expect they want to make the extra money with the screenings when they do screenings of part 1 and 2 and then all parts together.
Why would I when I'm bonded with Shinobu? We're in a relationship that's much deeper than plain marriage.
>people thinking that Eroragi sticks around with Crab in college
>she's not even on his keychain
best otp confirmed
Bee was better with long hair family, no denying it
Metal gear and fallout kept me from suicide last year, gatari might do it this year but fuck me its still only january
That's what intrigues me about her though - we have no idea how damaged she actually is and exploring that fact would be interesting. I wanna crack open that cold facade and see what lies beneath.
>Well, the question would be if Aniplex releases the Kizu parts together or if they are releasing it also in three parts.
They have to do it in parts considering Part 1 is Are you talking about the cinema screenings or BDs?
Her monologues totally ruined her character for me. I was pretty hyped to see her again, but I couldn't stop thinking "will she ever shut up" all the time. The last chapters of Owari were pretty underwelming.
That's a glitch.
Best ass is snake ass, everyone knows that.
>Metal gear and fallout kept me from suicide last year, gatari might do it this year but fuck me its still only january
The main bit of media that kept me going through most of last year turned out to be a huge disappointment, so it's kinda preventing me from getting excited about other media going forward.
>Bee was better with long hair family, no denying it
You magnificent bastard.
That's not an accurate representation and you know it.
Which Monogataris have best chemistry and why is it team triple loli?
>Math & Crab on a team
I don't think that's teamwork, anon
Holy shit I never thought of it this way and now it's making me hard as diamonds.
You just posted the best ones.
>Kiss-Shot's first minion
>long hair Araragi
>THAT Tsukihi hairstyle
>Kaiki when not disguising himself
>Nadeko when not medusa
The rest are not that bad, but mediocre.
They turn everything they touch into gold. My favorite part is Kaiki's interaction with Ononoki. Mayoi's itneraction with Araragi gets a little tyring (maybe because I'm not that much into pedo shit).
Sodachi already apologized and Hitagi accepted.
She's barely even at that school though
hell she's more viable to be on Team Sisters
especially with what Koyomi Reverse implied
Why are you even in here again?
Kanbaru as well, but for variety's sake: Nadeko
Memes and conjecture, anon. She is undeniably emotionally damaged to some extent though.
So I have heard that Tsukihi and Kagenui got an upcoming little story together?
Please confirm if true,
I absolutely adore both of them.
Oh true I forgot about that. In that case they're pretty close, but what team finishing moves would be able to outclass this?
(Also sorry about shit tumblr gif I couldn't find a better version)
I consider that scene to be one of my favourite monogatari scenes.
Incidentally, does anybody have that stitch of when Crab arrives in the classroom with cat draped around her ankles? I could have sworn I had it saved but I can't find it now.
Legitimately makes me laugh every time.
Thanks anon. Forgot that she was actually hanging around her waist - the ankles come later.
Christ I love that image.
>and then Crab faints right after this
why does everyone even humor her dumb "If you do x I'll kill you and everybody else" schtick anyway? Even Snake could probably beat her up if she got mad enough
>why does everyone even humor her dumb "If you do x I'll kill you and everybody else" schtick anyway?
Because she has an intimidating and somewhat mysterious personality. Most people aren't quite sure of what she's capable of, and as such give her a wide berth.
I will say that the fainting afterwards was a bit silly though. Crab isn't that frail.
I'm sure he's perfectly okay with that somehow.
>I thought she only pretended to faint so the fight wouldn't seem one-sided and she could get away more easily?
This. She only pretended because of how awkward it was that Sodachi got knocked out.
Gaen bloodline only produces the greatest girls. It's a shame Gaen doesn't convince Kanbaru to take advantage of her amazing base stats and inclination towards exorcism.
Kanbaru Suruga: Abberation Exorcist would be the best.
A team to be plagued by internal conflict if ever there was one.
That's what I initially thought too. The faint almost seems too convenient and put on. That said, Crab isn't somebody who would normally give a shit whether people thought a fight between her and somebody else was one-sided.
Post-Koimonogatari Snake is apparently on even better terms with Tsukihi, judging from how she shared her secret with her.
If she's willing to go to such length I'd think they're thick as thieves. Dunno where Bee fits there, tho'.
Switch Monkey and Cat here and it'd make sense
The truly sad thing is that Kanbaru is absolutely aware that this is going on and that she dislikes that it's happening but that she's going to leave it because Senjougahara likes how it is.
Had Araragi not gotten to her in Suruga Monkey, Kanbaru probably would have attempted to wreck Hanekawa's shit too.
Knowing Sodachi's whole deal, this scene is just kinda sad now
It'd be weird if he was that bothered by it. Hitagi aside, at the end of Ougi Dark his harem is pretty much is as follows:
Shrine Goddess Hachikuji
There's Kanbaru too but Koyomi seems put off by the lack of challenge involved there I guess. Sucks for her now that I think about it.
>Kanbaru probably would have attempted to wreck Hanekawa's shit too.
That would have been very very interesting.
Crab expelled? Not that I recall.
>Knowing Sodachi's whole deal, this scene is just kinda sad now
To be fair, she shouldn't have hit crab.
I'm a Batfag but holy shit sometimes Cat makes me rethink my decision
>tfw laugh funny knockout scene
>tfw I remember the beatings she got throughout her life
Anon, why would you do this to me?
>That would have been very very interesting.
I would have actually put my money on Kanbaru for that fight.
We know Rainy Devil Kanbaru doesn't give you time to respond when she fucks your shit up.
>I marathoned Owari so it made her monologues much more bearable for me.
I must be the only person on /a/ who wasn't really bothered by Gaen's info dump. Sure, she rambled a bit and it was a classic Nisio case of telling rather than showing, but as info dumps go it was fine.
And almost anything justifies more Gaen screentime as far as I'm concerned.
Jesus Christ anon, why do you do this? I genuinely hadn't understood the sad angle of that scene until you pointed it out.
That said, was it ever confirmed that her father beat her? Was it just implied that the mother did?
What if Cat was in Cat mode?
>And almost anything justifies more Gaen screentime as far as I'm concerned.
It was at least a new experience for her, being hit on her visible parts.
I'm a Catfag and and similarly, Bat makes me rethink my decision.
Why would she be Black Hanekawa walking home from whatever she is doing?
If she is in Cat Mode however, I suspect Cat would steamroll Rainy Devil Kanbaru but then Zokuowari already proves that.
Her father beat her frequently, her mother only to discount her rage when she was beaten herself and since she blamed Sodachi for the divorce. Sodachi calls him the "male parent" instead of father because she considered him the source of everything.
There is a distinct lack of a certain slender Nee-san on the internet.
Same with Yozuru which is just as fucked up.
Like I said, I thought they were bearable due to watching it in one go. Just learning more about Bat and her connections were great though. The pretty imagery definitely helped and
hearing Gaen's voice narrate it all the way through is like sex for my ears.
>To be fair, she shouldn't have hit crab.
There is that
not that it makes it right but she went full sperg over Gahara saying that she's helping Araragi get into college regardless of whether he appreciates it or not (which ties into her whole backstory and all that)
yeah, her father abused her
and her mother beat her "out of frustration" which isn't much better really
I wish Gaen had teased Araragi about that instead of just saying that it's something he shouldn't be doing.
Episode on the other hand is a bit wack. A six year old reading H-material about himself with Gaen's precious junior.
Though on second thought. The fact this magazine exists proves Gaen has done Gravure work for a Bimajo magazine and that's slightly arousing.
>The fact this magazine exists proves Gaen has done Gravure work for a Bimajo magazine and that's slightly arousing
My dick is SOLID
Genuinely depressing scene know that I look back on it. I guess I didn't realise it at the time as we were too busy in the threads arguing about whether Sodachi was responsible for her mother's death or not.
Whatever kid they had it would end in the same situation. It was entirely the parents fault. It was just psychological torture in the end, helping to imprint her self-hatred.
Sodachi was a good kid.
Fuck, you could just mute it and it'd still be worth watching.
I know "3DPD", but this honestly reminded me of a lot of documentaries I watched for my studies about abused kids and teenagers.
These really fucked me up inside and made me want to hug her even more.
She didn't do anything wrong nor anything right. She was just managing to survive. And she got her money from the nice government who just halved her help forcing her to move.
Lads, this thread is getting depressing fast. Almost none of the Owari airing threads were like this. Why now?
Are people feeling guilty for masturbating to Math?
Well she was too scared/mentally fucked up to do anything
she tried to set up a scenario for cute shota Alalagi to figure it out but it was a bit too obtuse + he was always kinda dense to begin with really
>Novelfags, do we get more Math?
She shows up in Zokuowarimonogatari, which is a basically Koyomi in an alternate reality "mirror world" where characters' desires and underlying personalities are outwardly displayed. In this setting, Sodachi stayed in the Araragi household and lives pretty happily as his sister.
There's also an actual follow-up to Sodachi Lost in Orokamonogatari set at the same time as Nadeko Medusa I think, and it follows Sodachi at her new school. Features a lot of her suffering.
People were discussing math and psychology at that point.
She literally needs government funding to continue going to school.
Her father beat her before leaving and her mother was abused to fuck.
She is also overly aggressive and picks up a weapon to stab someone with before assaulting another person.
Face it, Sodachi is effectively the stereotype in a nutshell. She's a didnunuffinmuffin of the highest caliber.
She has an ass though
Who knows what lies in its spooky depths.
But you're neither Araragi or a lesbian.
I stand corrected.
I doesn't seem to gel well with the rest of her body if you ask me though.
They aren't loved because they aren't trying to be loved.
>She's a didnunuffinmuffin of the highest caliber.
The thing is, in real life the muffins actually did something but claim they didn't, hence the meme. Sodachi legitimately didn't do anything.
Those were good threads in their own right. One of the few times I've ever seen /a/ come to a consensus on something.
>Dad shows up at her door at the end of her Orokamonogatari arc
He'll patch things up with her, r-right?
She can probably become somewhat happy with time, but she will probably always be extremely awkward dealing with people and adverse situations. Doubly so being an obsessed mathematician.
Anyone has the webm from the seizure inducing scene from Formula?
She was already shown as a unreliable narrator, but it was just that the truth was worse than what she remembered or told. And all the issues she had with Araragi in the past and present are because she repeatedly didn't simply tell the truth about her situation.
Loved by her class due to her great work as their class president.
>the truth was worse than what she remembered or told
The "truth" was based on nothing but guesswork, there's no actual evidence. Their mistake was accepting fake snake's story about her mother at all.
But I don't a twist that the girl who is a bad liar is actually a great liar and tricking everyone, even Araragi's parents when she was just a small kid. Although I would enjoy her meeting a certain liar in her city eventually if Nisio decides to have her interacting with another character from the original cast.
>Maths isn't getting sympathy from anyone and her life is pretty shitty in general
She doesn't even try to fish sympathy. She's impulsively volatile while behaving rather indifferently to how fucked up her life was, which makes sense since that often tends to be the case with abuse victims.
Which is why Araragi didn't even realize the situation she was in, and probably never would if she didn't have that break which caused the class trial.
And if it wasn't for Hanekawa asking about her mother's situation she would also have forced both of them to leave lying that just talking about it was enough to make her feel better.
for better or worse, mirror world Sodachi seems to drop the twin tails as well
>another gatari girl suffers at the hands of Nisio's scissors
I really, really wish I had a better, higher-res version of this for desktop purposes.
Real Sodachi is the one on the mirror behind
Twintails are the opposite of maturity, but Nisio doesn't need to go all the way all the time with short hair.
I adore how close Crab and Cat have become.
>He just tries to choose classy porn in order to impress her.
Would Shinobu even care?
Ranking of girls as of my progress up to Neko P
Bat, Monkey, Cat, Crab, Bee, Snake, Bird, Snail
How pure their love is for Arararara:
Snake, Cat, Crab, Bat, Everyone else, Monkey
Monkey, Cat, Snake, Snail, Bee, Bird, Bat, Crab
How far off am I?
>How pure their love is for Arararara:
SNAKE SNAKE SNAKE SNAKE SNAKE
Math (points for being a small with silver twintails)
Math (hate/healing sex and cuddling after she calmed down)
>Math (points for being a small with silver twintails)
>Math (hate/healing sex and cuddling after she calmed down)
Good taste right here.
I believe it's the year of the ass anon.
post favourite moments
Basically anytime Hachikuji is on the screen is a good moment
If you're not doing it on purpose and actually haven't watched Second Season yet, this is pretty funny. Protect your purity, screencap your posts, and come back after you finish SS.
I honestly haven't seen it yet. I bought tickets for Kizu as motivation to actually watch the series. I watched Bake a few days ago, Neko K yesterday and am starting SS tomorrow.
Is monogatari the only series where every girl is best girl?
True. I enjoy crab and rrrg moments, but they're entirely one-sided. Senjougahara does a deadpan comedic delivery, and Araragi is the straight man.
Well, I guess the imoutos are another back-and-forth.
Almost everything not plot related from nise, Bake ep12, anyhing with Kaiki or Bat on screen, Sodachi's re-encounter with Araragi, that one scene at the end of of Sodachi Answer that has Ougi not smilling.
No, and every gatari isn't best girl. A couple of rotten apples in there. The rest more than make up for it though.
The only series where every girl truly is best girl is Majikoi.
Since no one has outwardly done it yet, just posting
Kaiki is in his own league above all the gatari girls
No, hero academy is all top tier girls
What meme? I just think kaiki is fucking great.
Did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe, people genuinely love Kaiki as a character? Just a thought.
Monkey will find a lover before this series ends, right?
Numachi and Kanbaru seemed to be genuinely close friends
/loversthat it makes me sad that Numachi couldn't have stayed longer even if it was needed for the story. I do wonder if there was more to their past.
I don't think they were.
It's only really shown in the OP and if you consider the OP's as they are shown they don't really reflect reality but how the girl in the arc views or wants reality to be.
And considering monkey is the MC that makes the girl in the arc Numachi.
So the OP is how Numachi saw their relationship, not Kanbaru.
I think the OP was more of a could-have-been scenario, kind of a less supernatural parallel to what ended up happening. They might have communicated off-court before, since their teams had had unofficial matches.
But a lot of the OP showed their past from Kanbaru's perspective and the arc itself is named Suruga Devil, given how it was meant to be part of Second Season.
Even then, the events/memories seemed simple enough that it could have easily been forgotten by Kanbaru, or in her words, she ran away from them due to their falling out, (the same way that she only looked into Numachi again after so long). Then there's the fact that Kanbaru and Numachi are still in middle school instead of high school which just goes against the whole idea of teh Op being a "what-if" scenario.
I don't know, the fact that the OP even went out of its way to animate their falling out after the "good times" and even seemed to Numachi's suicide by drowning, it gave me the impression that it was really what happened in their past. I thought the only obvious "what-if" in the OP was Numachi in the classic pink uniform because of how she was never being able to go to high school due to her passing.
Sure, it definitely COULD have all happened. But I find it unlikely that Kanbaru would forget all about Numachi injuring her leg and dropping out of school, especially if it directly led to them falling out. For somebody who broods about the past and overthinks things like Kanbaru, I wouldn't expect her to have the same memory issues as Araragi.
The plot isn't the selling point, the characters are. If you're not liking it, then don't force yourself. Do try watching it again in a couple of months. Plenty of people have hated Monogatari the first time around but loved the second or third time.
>But I find it unlikely that Kanbaru would forget all about Numachi injuring her leg and dropping out of school
Kanbaru knew though, she even recalled it when they first meet up. What she didn't know was that Numachi committed suicide. How Kanbaru lost in touch with her is what's left up the air, and it wouldn't surprise me if Shaft tried to fill it in by using the OP to show that they had a falling out hence why Kanbaru never checked in on her again.
Just seemed kind of ridiculous to me.
So Senjougahara becomes a victim of attempted sexual assault, and then her mom hates her for it, and she feels like shit? Also what, her repressed feelings leave her body as actual mass, and that Oshino dude is somehow able to fucking SUPLEX a god to get them back?
And what does that have to do with Senjougahara's incredibly sarcastic attitude that does nothing but beat around the bush constantly and insult the poor guy just fucking because?
>Oshino dude is somehow able to fucking SUPLEX a god to get them back?
She gets them back because she asks for them back, the suplex was because she fucked up and looked up at the god, causing it to attack her. The point of the series is to use supernatural stuff as physical representations of emotional and psychological problems. If you don't like that premise then by no means should you force yourself to watch the series.
>her repressed feelings leave her body as actual mass
'Emotions' and 'weight' are both 'omoi' in Japanese.
>Oshino dude is somehow able to fucking SUPLEX a god to get them back
He's a fairly powerful exorcist and that's a Shinto god. Besides, he just held the god off long enough for Senjougahara to ask for her emotions back. This was the entire point of the arc: the god kept her emotions because she wanted it to and it wasn't going to take any bullshit when she asked for them back. That's why she apologized to and thanked the god at the end.
>Senjougahara's incredibly sarcastic attitude
She acts like a cunt to hide her insecurity. The author has obviously had encounters with real teenage girls.
>what does that have to do with Senjougahara's incredibly sarcastic attitude
After being betrayed by her mother and the con men she becomes unable to trust other people and has a really caustic attitude toward them. Luckily Araragi is a fairly thick-skinned individual who doesn't let her insults get to him.
Shinobu starts talking in Nise episode 4. There will be a lot of lolibutt to distract you, but make an effort to pay attention to what she's saying because it's very important.
The praise it's getting is mostly for the characters. Bake is my favorite in terms of direction but among my least favorite in terms of other content. Even as a monogatarifag, I don't think it's a fundamentally good series until later seasons.
Bake had the best direction due to Oishi directing it, but while it has great moments, it doesn't really have much payoff until Hanekawa's arc where the following arcs/season gets to show off the characters even more.
