Art Evolution thread?
Plus tons of other characters for comparison: http://imgur.com/a/d6biB
Coconut Cranium has looked mostly the same, maybe with more of an autistic look in his eyes.
Especially after the rape.
Getting more of a "genocide makes my little tank engine moan" vibe from his latest appearances in the manga instead of an autistic one. Or maybe both.
This is more like a devolution. Kishimoto's art was really expressive and unique when he started out. It had kind of like a "sketchy" look to it but not that it looked unfinished, that it was it's own style. But then he started copying the anime artstyle and it went to shit
I fucking hate Odas art
He puts little details everywhere which makes it hard to understand the big picture and requires several moments to get adjusted to it
It ruines some big moments because you're more focused on deciphering the picture than enjoying the story
I really like JJBA but I dislike Araki's current art style. It's interesting that it changes so much throughout the series but it kind of flips between being really nice or ugly, like 4 to 5 (good to bad) and 6 to 7 (bad to good).
it didn't even take him that long. i love that when you go back over his color work, he clearly had some kind of epiphany in the middle of doing eyeshield21
Too much sameface, it was noticeable in SBR but in JoJolion it's out of control, weird considering how it's now monthly and he has more time to get it done, look at the previous parts, they looked amazing and they were weekly
Washizu from Akagi.
In an arc on a game of Mahjong that lasts only 1 night, but is still going after EIGHTEEN YEARS.
He pretty much just learned how to use shading what-do-you-call-it? Shading film? The think you put over the drawing and scratch off.
Hell, maybe he got an assistant to do it instead.
I know SnK is shitposted to death but come one, can't we have at least a serious discussion? Do you really think that the shapes, the faces, the chins, the hair and the eyes are the same as before? Are you seriously telling me that Mikasa in chapter 1 and chapter 77 look the same?
that's all improvements that can be made in a day if someone had said "you should get someone to shade your characters, also their faces' shapes are pretty weird"
it's not something worth of notice for so many years of constant drawing
>, his artstyle is plain ugly.
That's debatable. Characters looks weird, not the titans (actually they look weird but that's the point). Also top tier action scenes.
>expressions all unemotive
>eyes all unfocused
>eyes can't maintain proportionality to face
>jawlines shift from panel to panel
>neck width and length inconsistant
>body postures all rigid and unnatural
Yeah, gosh. What was I thinking?
This is what I'd call an art improvement anon. From this
That's just a random street, it doesn't have to be from Tokyo. At best the sky is handraw in this page, everything else is from a real life picture. It exactly looks like a background page from Inuyashiki.
It's in the Tokyo ghoul Zakki illustration book. He used to draw on paper before he went full digital in the middle of his work.
slap a filter over what? a non existent place in Tokyo? kek.
I was afraid of reading Black Butler for a long time because "muh fujopandering", "muh gay pedo butler".
It turned out to be great, and fujopandering parts are easy to ignore. And the art is awesome, true
I guess we're doomed to disagree with each other.
>I'll never get used to that.
His reference is good, a lot.
His poses are good, most of the times.
His proportions suck balls most of the times. Not talking about titans.
His action scenes are not that fluid, but its ok.
His drawing style is shit.
His facial expressions are samefacey.
The only thing that makes this manga look averagely good is the shading, which is in charge of assistants and not the mangaka.
>His action scenes are not that fluid, but its ok.
I disagree on this point, the fluidity of the fights are part of what make them so good to follow. You can follow multiples movements in a single panel.
>His drawing style is shit.
Define "drawing style". What does it refer to?
>I disagree on this point
>Define "drawing style"
His lines and composition look really bad. Like, its poorly done, clearly without experience, which is a weird thing after so long has passed and still looks like the very same chicken is drawing. The only good point of his art style is that its kind of unique, which its a good thing even if the drawing is shit. Somethingthat really bothers me are the proportions, the guy just cant get them right. If you like SnK fine, but you have to admit that the mangaka refuses to improve or step out of his comfort zone, which is a really sad thing for an artist.
I am so glad that Mars chronicles brought the drawing back to the rail…
>If you like SnK fine, but you have to admit that the mangaka refuses to improve or step out of his comfort zone, which is a really sad thing for an artist.
Actually he's improving but quite slowly and his messy style doesn't emphasize it. Here is a comparison of a full human body in chapter 14 and in chapter 77. He went from stick figurines to nearly correct anatomy. Of course it's not perfect and there is still a lot of room for improvement, but saying that he didn't improve is just wrong.
