Let me start by recommending that you just read the wikipedia article if you want to understand orthogonality. Orthogonality is like, perfect linear independence, and linear independence means any point in the space can only be reached by a unique scalar multiple of the vectors. Some other thread had posted a manga scan which explained that her body and internals wasn't originally meant for androids, but for medical cybernetics. Basically she has internal organs shaped like human ones, and have a sort of circulatory system of nano-machines, all because it was intended to be replacement human organs.

Thus she actually use the toilet, as a way for her to flush the waste water. She was not designed as an android, but was a robot brain put inside a cybernetic shell that was invented for human use.

It's a fast-paced adaptation. In two episodes they're at v2 ch9. I'm guessing they went for a quick good impression since the manga has a more slow pace which doesn't work as well in anime with the little time you get. I'm sure they'll slow down the pace a bit more from now on.

From what's scanlated there's the kids arc (ones you saw in ep 1) and then the ghost house arc. That's +4 volumes already, and I'm sure the anime will go beyond that.
