So what are some series you'd like to see localized? I think 7 Seeds could prove very popular, it's ending soon I think and not that long and I'm surprised it hasn't been considered for an English release before but without an anime backing it I wouldn't know how it would do in the sales.

It varies quite a bit, a few have really nice thick, clean paper. Some have horrible sub-newspaper quality paper, especially the ones with multiple volumes compiled into one. Most feel about as thick as standard printer paper (or at least feel as stiff as printer paper), they aren't quite white and they have a noticeable scratchy, rough-looking texture.
I don't really know anything about paper though so I can't tell you much more than that.

I talked to Vertical's representative at Anime Central last year (May), and he said because of the really high printing costs with the colored parts, gloss paper, and hardcover binding, Gundam the Origin will probably only stay in print for about a year after its publishing run. I've picked up volumes 1, 8, 9, 10, and 11 so far so I definitely feel your pain (my library has the full set). I might just end up buying the japanese aizoban and reselling the english ones I have.

I got a B&N Membership a while ago and I'm not a hundred on whether it's worth it. I've had similar experiences with Amazon. I no longer buy comics from them at all, and very rarely do I buy non-picture books. For manga I go to Right Stuf and for western comics I go to instocktrades.com (which also has a decent manga selection) or independent comic/book stores.

I know what you mean, I hate it when I order a book listed in “good” condition, only to open it up to find some mystery food stains bleeding through the pages. Like did you even look at the book before you listed it?
But what I hate even more then that are ex-library books. Don’t get me wrong, if my library is having a discard sale, I’ll buy a bag full of manga at $0.10, especially if I haven’t ever heard of the series before and it looks interesting; But words cannot describe my hate when I order a book in “good” condition, wait two weeks for it to ship, excitedly open it up, only to find a library logo, irremovable stamps, and a coating of tape.
How hard is to hold to standards that have been in place since 1949? Ex-library books are “fair” at best and “poor” at worst! Even if you want to sell it a “good” you are required to CLEARLY MARK DEFECTS!
Luckily when I complain, 9 times out of 10 they give me a full refund no questions asked. But now I have a shelf set aside just for library discards, and to rebuys. Even on that shelf I’ll peel off all the stickers, all the layer of tape, give it a good alcohol rub down to get rid of residue, and use a dremel to sand off all the stamps I can. I’ve gotten pretty good at it.

Yeah, I ordered a course text once without reading the description. It was listed as "new", when I got it, opened it and noticed on the cover a nice big [DAMAGED] stamp,fucking sent that shit back.
