moved and in my new place i cant get far enough back for a good picture so now i have to split it up
>want to have a nice manga collection
>live around normalfags
>work with normalfags
>family are all normalfags
>occasionally bring a normalfag girl over to have sex with
>forced to suppress my power level to undetectable levels
Sometimes I wish I was a fat, balding loser like the rest of this board that didn't need to care about what people thought of me.
shit i forgot the pic
4/4 for real this time. not pictured: spice and wolf1, astral project 4, and deadman wonderland 1 which were loaned out at the time
Are there any blaring series omitted?
I'm looking looking for some good English series to waist my money on.
I usually import Manga because US will not license them
That's how i got those anon and this too
It was gambling manga that motivated me to start studying. Anime that doesn't get subbed is really rare nowadays, bit there's so much manga that neither fans or corporations can be bothered to do anything with.
As you should anon
for Some reason I hardly import Seinen manga except for Killer Killer Girls and Nejimaki Kagyu
Based anon, I will probably pick those up soon. I just want to get caught up with my volumes for Tsugumomo and I still need to grab all the volumes for Boku Girl first.
Just started about a month ago, not much to show yet
Yeah, sucks it was canceled. The author's doing a new oneshot this month though, hope he can get serialized again.
Thanks for reminding me I wanted to import Twin star exorcist as well
I know the feeling. Gets kind of hard when I can't bring myself to throw anything away and I have to find room for another bookshelf.
still waiting to get a new book shelf
I own a shitton of older licensed manga unfortunately
Pretty much just those, a few issues that came out since that filled up, and a bunch of random old issues in my closet I bought for scanning.
Would post, but it hasn't changed since the last time I bought manga, and I don't think I buyfagged in about 2-3 years now. Sometimes I feel like getting more again, but after you stop buying for a couple months, you are broken of the addiction.
I only put books up on my shelf if I've finished them, I actually have a rather large backlog. Especially with Barnes n Nobles still having that buy 2 get on free with manga. I don't know if they still are. I also have some other books in my college dorm. Then my anime DVDs are on the shelf below.
That's pretty much exactly what happened with me. I can get through Bakatest alright, but I tried reading Hataraku and it took me ages to even get through the first chapter.
I'm just buying the English releases now, won't be able to read LNs in Japanese for a while.
Forgive the shitty picture, I can't be bothered to take a better one right now. I have another box of books I have no room for at the moment, and I'm waiting on Kizu to get another fucking printing.
Go ahead and give me shit for it being all disorganized. I'm trying to get new furniture for my little apartment. I have a box of the rest of my stuff in my closet.
My collection. I tend to favor stories with a certain archetype regarding girls and guys.
You misquoted, shitposter-kun. I hope you feel embarrassed now.
how long until someone posts their full collection on nisekoi?
Top part of shelf.
Only other decent image I could get out of this shitty camera.
Why not, I spent a long time learning Japanese and I enjoy the original covers.
The magazines and some of the LNs can't be found in English.
Nice taste and collection anon.
tfw mostly own seven sea entertainment published manga.
dont even know why it just seems they get everything good.
>all that jojo
Fuck you France.
I can't quite remember right now but around 8,000~ish for all of them I think? Might be a little cheaper.
Looking around now they seem to be way more expensive due to limited production, the Miyako plates are probably pretty pricey too.
I'm away from my house right now, my collection is pretty small anyway but this is what I picked up over the weekend (watamote 6 is in the mail)
Manga and video games, i haven't bought any new manga in a while...
Have all of the Pluto volumes coming in the mail
Most of the official stuff is really expensive now, I paid way too much for the boxes of the lucky dip keychain figures and customs charges on top. I can't justify paying 150 dollars worth for a crappy plate even if it does have Miyako on it or hundreds on those plush toys.
No pics but recently added to my shelf:
Ajin volume 1
Inuyashiki volume 1
Strike Witches: Fuso Sea Incident
Trigun Maximum Omnibus 5(I have volumes 1-12 in singles but decided to get the last two volumes in omnibus format)
Anything I should be on the lookout for localization wise? Planetes just got a reprint in omnibus format so that's going to be the next thing I buy and A Girl on the Shore comes out at the end of the month. I've also considered getting the first volume of Gakkou Gurashi too.
Yo! I have both the Miyako and Yuno Beach Queens, Nendos and Figmas.
I have pretty mixed feelings about them. In recent years they have improved considerably, but I'm not especially fond of getting omnibus releases at the expense of cover art and color pages. At least they've come a long way from the KnJ debacle nearly ten years ago.
I was aware Nichijou was coming out along with Servant x Service, didn't know Veritcal were doing it. Now looking forward to it more. They did a very nice job with the presentation of Ajin and Kizumonogatari.
Can I post some recent purchases? I'm a pleb without a shelf.
>Order manga off amazon.
>books always come dinked up even pages are bent as fuck.
>actually had a book that was bent in half once.
>ask for replacements.
>replacements come the same way.
>send them back for refund
>just buy all my books in person or online on barnsandnoble now and they always come in pristine condition.
anyone else get their localized manga from barnes and noble? I like how they have a b2g1 free of manga sometimes or even buy 1 get 1 1/2 off also prices seem cheaper then amazon.
Just keep an eye out for official re-releases, I got two Miyako plates when they were re-released a while ago.
You never know when they might decide to do more, hopefully if any new anime gets produced or anything new gets announced you might be able to get some of the things you wanted.
Pretty good, its not scraggly or poorly made and they haven't fallen apart at all.
I've been meaning to pick those up but they are pretty pricey. I wish Ideon would receive the same treatment.
You can usually find some good deals in your local comic shop, whenever I'm in mine I always browse when I go to pick up my monthly pull list and pick up a couple volumes.
I'm so happy to finally own it. You copy?
>>occasionally bring a normalfag girl over to have sex with
>he fell for the 3DPD meme
Get out faggot and take your 3DPD roastie infected dick with you
I hope they stay in print for another year or two, I really want to just buy them all but I can't afford that shit right now.
Amazon started using their own contracted or whatever couriers here in England recently. They've delivered to the wrong house multiple times now and said it was handed to resident, it's not like any of the house numbers are obscured or anything. They will leave it in stupid places without putting a leaflet through saying where it is too. You rarely get the option of Royal Mail either, I started using other sites instead now.
There are so many things I want but just can't afford to go on a spending spree, I want to get every single DVD and BD release, I want to get all the music CDs + any bundled extras, I want to get the comiket stuff like Hidamari shower curtain, the Miyako rice bowl.
I want to get all the previous issues of Manga Time Kirara Carat (plus the initial magazine Hidamari started out in) I don't have so I can have every issue of Hidamari Sketch released.
There is also special stuff like the Nori Keyboard that would be neat to have.
Nausicaa box set is next on my list. Any other really good releases that are just one or a few volumes?
I love the characters and story, it quite peaceful and warming to watch and read.
That is the sort of genre I like the most like Aria, YKK, Amanchu, Ah My Goddess etc.
Lets not derail the thread too much though anon.
heres my meager collection
i have more but its just like 5 issues of no need for tenchi, 1 issue of dragon ball, love hina, ranma and 3 hellsings all in english
i left them at my moms house, i got all these in the past year or so the others are from when i was like 10
its a nice book about cabins all over the world
full of nice pictures, its very calming to read and its really cheap too
they run a blog about cabins and then they decided to make a book and its nice
Can someone tell me what those little tabs are? I usually buy my mango in sets so they never come with anything like that, a shop benefit perhaps?
just spent $100 collectively on three different websites on manga after 2 months of not buying anything.
this is due to a few cool looking series i saw in some of your bookcases.
fuck you all.
No one cares what your hobbies are as long as you don't shove it down their throat. No one cares that you like anime unless you won't stop being a faggot about it.
My dad was captain of the football team and set records in track and field in his HS, but is a huge /m/fag and has everything from SDF Macross to Votoms to Gunsmith Cats. He had no problem marrying a normalfag wife whom to this day doesn't understand why we both like watching cartoons the same way we don't get her mobile game addiction.
There is literally zero reason to hide your powerlevel unless you're an insecure faggot.
20th century boys 11
ai yori aoshi 15
hunter x hunter 24
Knights of Sidonia 1
non non biyori 2
The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service 4,7,8
what a wonderful world 1,2 (all) *was originally only going to buy this
zach bell 8
When you buy a book in store in Japan, they will remove those and use them for restocking purposes, they give the book title, author, genre, ISBN, price etc.
Is What a Wonderful World slowly going out of print or something? I notice Amazon aren't stocking it anymore. I should probably buy both next time I get paid.
So what are some series you'd like to see localized? I think 7 Seeds could prove very popular, it's ending soon I think and not that long and I'm surprised it hasn't been considered for an English release before but without an anime backing it I wouldn't know how it would do in the sales.
>buy all volumes of sundome ages ago
>vol 5 has slight damage on spine and the whole book is faded so doesn't match others
>tell myself I don't care and live with it
>have to move books to new shelf yesterday
>see sundome vol 5
>can't stand the damage any longer
>buy it again
I really have no idea why I didn't just send it back when I first ordered it a few years ago.
Christ, I didn't even notice he had done that
It's old enough that it would never happen, but I would buy every issue of Ashita No Joe without a second thought, that's my favorite series.
>Seven Seas Entertainment is excited to announce their acquisition of Kodama Naoko's yuri manga series, NTR: Netsuzou Trap
Haven't bought much for a while, need to catch up on a few things here that have more volumes out.
It varies quite a bit, a few have really nice thick, clean paper. Some have horrible sub-newspaper quality paper, especially the ones with multiple volumes compiled into one. Most feel about as thick as standard printer paper (or at least feel as stiff as printer paper), they aren't quite white and they have a noticeable scratchy, rough-looking texture.
I don't really know anything about paper though so I can't tell you much more than that.
I talked to Vertical's representative at Anime Central last year (May), and he said because of the really high printing costs with the colored parts, gloss paper, and hardcover binding, Gundam the Origin will probably only stay in print for about a year after its publishing run. I've picked up volumes 1, 8, 9, 10, and 11 so far so I definitely feel your pain (my library has the full set). I might just end up buying the japanese aizoban and reselling the english ones I have.
I haven't bought anything in a while. Please excuse the out of place copies and multiple copies, OCDfriends.
Fairly old. I'll have to take my potato out some day.
Read through Sumomo Momomo, nothing to write home about but Tenten Koganei a best girl.
Also read through Gakuen Polizi, all the right legos but no idea how to assemble them.
Pls support /ak/-moe, get Strike Witches, Girls und Panzer and Arpeggio.
Actually most of the top 5 I’d love to see just got picked up. Franken fran, Pun pun, I am a hero, and nichijou. Feelsgoodman
New top 5 that I’d love to see Silver Spoon, Fujiyama-san wa shishunki, Hinamatsuri, okusan, and Youkai Apartment
I would also loove to have tower of god of my shelf, but the author came out and said tankobons never which is pretty lame.
They're similar to pic related, and are just sealed with tape. Not much of an inconvenience at all to open and close the bags whenever I want to read them. And they help a lot with preventing yellowing.
I got a B&N Membership a while ago and I'm not a hundred on whether it's worth it. It's definitely cheaper than Amazon to buy, and I feel like it's more fun because of Manga Mondays and the random 20-40% off deals. But sometimes Amazon is still cheaper. I haven't had any shipping issues with either one of them, but that might be a local thing.
Does anyone have a rightstuf membership? Is it worth it at all?
id say its worth it if you buy a lot of books (not just manga). I dont really use amazon for books anymore because of what I said up there and it really just depends where you shop. I know right stuff can be okay sometimes. only problem is that right stuff doesnt give out free shipping with their memebership only small discounts.
I was about to judge you pretty harshly, but then I saw that all-in-one volume of Bone. You're all right, anon.
I've had similar experiences with Amazon. I no longer buy comics from them at all, and very rarely do I buy non-picture books. For manga I go to Right Stuf and for western comics I go to instocktrades.com (which also has a decent manga selection) or independent comic/book stores.
Looks like most of you buy localized manga over the Japanese originals. Is it worth it?
I know what you mean, I hate it when I order a book listed in “good” condition, only to open it up to find some mystery food stains bleeding through the pages. Like did you even look at the book before you listed it?
But what I hate even more then that are ex-library books. Don’t get me wrong, if my library is having a discard sale, I’ll buy a bag full of manga at $0.10, especially if I haven’t ever heard of the series before and it looks interesting; But words cannot describe my hate when I order a book in “good” condition, wait two weeks for it to ship, excitedly open it up, only to find a library logo, irremovable stamps, and a coating of tape.
How hard is to hold to standards that have been in place since 1949? Ex-library books are “fair” at best and “poor” at worst! Even if you want to sell it a “good” you are required to CLEARLY MARK DEFECTS!
Luckily when I complain, 9 times out of 10 they give me a full refund no questions asked. But now I have a shelf set aside just for library discards, and to rebuys. Even on that shelf I’ll peel off all the stickers, all the layer of tape, give it a good alcohol rub down to get rid of residue, and use a dremel to sand off all the stamps I can. I’ve gotten pretty good at it.
what does rightstuf's membership give you, if you have it? is it just small discounts?
My collection so far. I'm terrible collecting a whole series' releases before I start buying a new one. Not pictured is the shitload of FMA and Tsubasa my fiancée has, among some other random few volumes of other stuff.
Actually, anime isn't for freaks and losers. Those people are called otaku's and weeaboo's. They are cancer. Normal people have always existed on here it's just the cancerous otaku's and weebs and taken over.
My absolute pet peeve. I ordered a volume once that was listed as "good" but came to me with library stickers and tape all over, permanent marker on the cover, pen scribbles inside, torn and yellowed pages, and binding so loose it felt like a slight breeze would rip it apart. That was the last time I ever bought something used on Amazon.
Got Ancient Magus Bride coming in tomorrow, I heard it's good. Also D-Frag 7 sometime later this week.
>up to 20k yen per
>put on shelf
>does nothing all day long
>forget about it 99% of the time
>no practical value
Because people like to collect things. I don't see the big deal. Everyone has their "irrational" collection of stuff.
Muh low-gamma sibling.
I should find a more efficient way to stock the books
My collection is huge, but it is currently split between three houses. I'll post my full collection later in 2016, but for now here is the extremely small amount I happen to have with me at college.
I've enjoyed it up through the volumes I have. I had zero expectations for the story the moment I started it, though. The fight scenes, to me, look great and I loved the scifi plotline with all genetic enchancement shit, so that's enough to keep me entertained with it.
second shelf (and there's like 40 volumes I can't fit there in bo)
I rarely buy tankos and pretty much just get the monthly magazines. Sadly a lot of the good ones aren't available at my local Japanese bookstore.
Here's a slightly old pic of my bookshelf, the only difference now is newer volumes of the same stuff. (Manga have pushed into the next shelf down lately.)
For anyone who are reluctant on buying the Log Horizon novel because of its prize, don't be, it's a double volume so it's pretty massive.
Yeah, I ordered a course text once without reading the description. It was listed as "new", when I got it, opened it and noticed on the cover a nice big [DAMAGED] stamp, fucking sent that shit back. When I buy new I expect pristine condition anything damaged is used as far as I'm concerned even if it's never left the warehouse, got a full refund on it and learnt to always read the descriptions now.
>reads scans of manga
>buy it to put on shelf and look at now and then but never open
pic very unrelated
are you Haruhiko ?
Whenever amazon fucks you by damaging your orders, just email them about it.
They sent me a copy of otoyomegatari with a tear in the dust jacket once. When i emailed them they immediately sent me another copy with a $5 gift card. Didn't even have to send the original back to them.
Still modest, although some of it has been lent out.
I keep everything in my bed shelf for easy access at night.
>all that Taniguchi
>all that Taiyo
Good job. How is Saru? I love Daisuke Igarashi.
ugh. my autism wouldn't allow this.
Do you see that 13rd volume of steel ball run there >>136306690 ? French buyers are urging Tonkam (the french distributor) to reprint that dust cover as the number is not aligned.
I thought my nexus took better pictures that this, but I guess not. Also I don't have a book case at the moment so my small manga collection lives in a cupboard with all my figure boxes.
The fuck are you doing anon.
>6300 yen preorder
This seems very inexpensive for a 1/7 scale, even for a Kotobukiya standards.
Western normalfag gamers were so buttdevestated about this character that there was talk of having her removed from the North American release of Tekken 7.
>"A catgirl in japanese fighting game? This is an unprecedented level of fanservice! REEEEEEEEEEEE"
So fuck them, I am ordering the cat.
Drawing and coloring in a page takes more work than inking a page. like how long do you think pic related took?
my collection. I have a very little for money reasons.
Sucks when a company changes the brand or lists it elsewhere. Seeing Viz Media rebrand as Perfect Square now makes most of the volumes i have mostly the original brand and some with the new brand. Oh did i mention they update previous volumes to put the current name?
Acid-Free comic bags, dusting every so often.
Don't put in direct sunlight or have your room constantly change temperature dramatically.
There is only so much you can do. It really depends on the type of paper used.
Also hoover and keep things clean, food and crumb will attract insects that can damage can do massive damage.
Bonus dog included. no shelf but friend scored me this from his job at book burning factory while it was still in the wrapping. Only issue in the entire set was a line that ran down one of the pages in volume 16 or some shit.
The only manga I have. Looking to buy off the rest of the Yuru Yuri series but money is tight. That and I don't really collect manga
Nah they shove them all into a shredder and then they get burnt to be turned into some sort of paste or some shit. Got me a free set of Bakuman and him a free set of FMA and Death Note which is pretty good for pleb manga.
According to him, they do a giveaway table for employees at the end of the month where everyone can take some stuff home in order they're called in.
Most of their product is really shitty misprints with stuff covered in ink but he says when stores aren't selling they just give it to them to be turned into book paste.
I usually get manga from my local libraries, its nice to take out 10+ books in a longer series and read those, also one of the libraries has a lot of good seinen stuff.
That said I have no excuse for not buying Japanese copies, there is a Kinokuniya books a half mile from my house that carries a shit ton of manga and Japanese magazines, I think they sell jpn manga for $6-9 depending on the volume.
And some random stuff I picked up in Japan
I got my first full loli book the other day, and the one that made me the man I'm today
I wonder if the spoiler is enough, well hope I don't get banned or some shit
Not shown: Genshiken, School Rumble, and a bunch of manga I only have volume 1 of. Also not shown, Nendoroids.
I grew up in a mini-library, my parents have 10+ bookshelves full of books and when I was a kid in a smaller house they filled up every room. even now there are random piles of books in various rooms. it's neatish, depends how much you like books.
Ridiculously out of date, moved three times since this.
Nichijou anime was supposed to come out along with Turn A, I think Madman in Australia still put it out.
I found a Nori early last year, it actually has pretty good quality for anime merch.
It'll never happen, but I'd really like the sequel series to Please Save My Earth. That and a bit more of Mitsuru Adachi's stuff, even just more of the Short Program collections.
Sadly YKK will never happen and Aria will never finish.
Over the last year I wound up with the misprinted v3 of Whispered Words and German editions of Oh My Goddess and Vagabond.
Still need to reorder WW, never returned any of them because it didn't seem worth the trouble for the value.
I wouldn't have the time left to actually be able to read Japanese by the time I learned it, I'm pretty much unable to read from books at all any more.
Aside from that once I factor in shipping the cost is actually cheaper going English 90% of the time.
I think I suffer with three library discards across my entire library because some books are just so hard to find.
Stamping is faint and only across the bottom of the closed pages, and one
Silverberg collectionhas a library plate fixed in the front cover.
That's pretty neat. I'm a big fan of collecting, and of course books, so it just works for me. I like putting up what I've read (and watched, in terms of DVDs) as I feel it just does what any library should, represent a culture. And in this case, it's my own interests, as if it's a bookstore tailored to myself.
And it's part of a reason I don't often read manga online. Not that I'm some hipster-faggot, but I honestly much prefer having a physical copy of something, especially if I really enjoy it. Typically I'd start reading something online and then buy the copy of it.
see, I'm the opposite. I only really buy what I've already read online or know based upon quality/author/etc. but I do feel you own having your own collection of things you like. I think this whole thread does.
I'm also in an MLS program now so I guess I was destined for it.
It's so your friends can look at them just like in my animes.
More recent pic, only one move ago. Still just the local collection, bulk is in storage back in BC.
Northern Canada. We have no roads but somehow Book Depository ships shit here for free while Amazon wants $40 to send me a videogame and Best Buy just charged me $35 shipping on fucking two HDMI and DisplayPort cables.
In learning Japanese, this has been the hardest thing, I can see why kanji is useful. You wouldn't be able to tell words apart except for context otherwise, and Japanese is one of those languages that is perfectly fine dropping context because fuck you.
Haven't been able to buy much lately but I enjoy my current collection.
Remote location means I don't qualify for special rates and priority shipping does not apply.
I recently had to send stuff out to my lawyer priority and it sat for a week before moving to the regional hub, needlessly delaying lawyer shit. Shipped some /ss/ gifts to Ontario expedited and that cost me about $250 and it sat for five days in the hub - Christmas miracle kicked in and they all got to their destinations Christmas Eve.
Planning on it.
Medical shit means I have about three years left up here, just bought a small place back home. Working my ass off to pay down as much as I can and already have a renter in it.
Will fill with manga soon.
>Shipped some /ss/ gifts to Ontario expedited and that cost me about $250 and it sat for five days in the hub
I find more reasons to love living in a well-developed part of burgerland everyday. My gift package was maybe $8 shipping and was at her door in half a week.
>Sometimes I wish I was a fat, balding loser like the rest of this board that didn't need to care about what people thought of me.
That implies what you don't know.
You shouldn't care what others think about you based on what you like.
Do what makes you happy. If your "friends" give you a hard time, then they're really not your friends.
This is just what's outside the door to my room. Otherwise I've got piles and stacks of books everywhere and I don't need the criticism of how my room is a hoard.
my friends know i like anime and japan shit and they dont care
sometimes they like to watch me play nip games. last week i was playing yakuza 0 and they thought it was cool
>Kizu and Planetes localized
>Nichijou and LOGH getting localized
I hope there's more Monagatari coming.
I like your taste, anon
funny story about that.
local comicbook store was going out of business and was having a huge sale. I went in the day before they closed their doors for the last time and they gave me a killer deal.
$0.50 each but i had to take them all.
so i did.
sold a ton of stuff i wasn't interested and kept the rest.
Years later i'm shelling out hundreds of dollars just to buy really good series that i sold because past me was a shonintard
First man's purchase of the year. The name is fine.
Thanks, anon. It's easily one of my favorites. I like that all of the characters get about equal screen(?) time whereas the anime seemed to focus on Sora and friends a lot more. I think Kurihara has become my favorite character.
