Whats the final consensus on Kaguya as the final villain?

One of the dumber things I've seen as far as plot twists, but who was expecting anything good to come from Naruto anyway? People need to stop getting surprised by bad manga being bad.

Even though I firmly believe she was hinted at since the beginning of the series, the way she actually arrived was just so fucking stupid.

That being said, she did have a cool theme, her appearance was an enormous "wtf" moment, and the final battle with her was pretty fun overall.

I don't even know if calling her an asspull is fair, since asspulls are supposed to be when the writer writes themselves into a corner and have to write in something new they just thought of to escape the situation. There was no such situation, Kishi scrapped Madara for no reason just to shit Kaguya all over the script. She's a whole magnitude worse than an asspull.
Reverse harem jutsu was at least the second best part of the entire war arc which lasted years, so, eh.

Those aren't hints, that's called writing a character backwards into the story, Kubo's famous for it in Bleach. The author picks up a bunch of tidbits and details that he wrote years ago and creates something new from them. It's hinting at something if the details are actually, literally hinting at Kaguya herself when they're introduced in the series. Kimimaro had nothing to do with Kaguya or anything else at all when he was introduced, and any relation between his clan and Kaguya is only up to fan speculation.
Sharingan being an evolved form of the Byakugan was just yet another way of hyping up the Sharingan, as well as explaining the two dojutsu's similarities in seeing chakra flows.

If the origin story was actually mentioned at any time in the 650+ chapters before the Sage's infodump and Kaguya's introduction proper, that would have at least been a bit of hinting, even if it was only mentioned in passing in the background.

Fighting Madara wouldn't have made no difference, it would have been better in every way. Madara had actually been built up as a character and villian for ages, he was fun as fuck, with motivations that were completely understandable, a key intimidation factor, and he had just spent the last I-don't-even-care-enough-to-count-how-many chapters one-sidedly kicking the asses of almost EVERY NINJA IN THE WORLD AT THE SAME TIME. There's a reason the "is X stronger than Madara Uchiha" meme was spawned, Madara was built up as overpowered shit for wayyy too long, and just when you though he was more than strong enough, Kishi would throw him another hax powerup.

Kishimoto took the villian he'd been building up for however many arcs out of the story at a climatic moment for absolutely no concievable reason to replace him with a new character that we'd only gotten hinted at 15~ chapters ago.

Kishu actually tried to foreshadow it but it was just way too late in the series for it to not feel forced.

Regardless though, I fail to see how that proves it was hinting at Kaguya. You don't seem to understand. Hints don't work backwards. If those were real hints at Kaguya's existence and final boss status, readers would have been able to extrapolate from those "hints" that there was a moon-princess Kaguya that is practically God and literally the progenitor of chakra and therefore all ninja in the world, and that she was going to end up being the final boss. Which is simply impossible to take away from "oh yeah, by the way the Sharingan evolved from the Byakugan so they're kinda similar, but the Byakugan is strictly stronger". Keep in mind that in this arc at this moment they're trying to build up Neji as an antagonist, and a powerful ninja, so Kishimoto threw in some flavour text to spice up the world he's creating, but the main purpose of the dialogue is to hype up Neji's strength. The strongest Genin-level character we know of is Sasuke, who is a Sharingan user. And the strongest character we've seen in action (so excluding Hokage etc) is Kakashi, whose whole trick is using the Sharingan to copy the opponent's moves back at them quicker than they can cast them. So to say that Neji has an eye jutsu that's strictly stronger than the Sharingan is so obviously only said in the first place to hype up Neji that I'm amazed I have to explain that's the purpose of the line in the first place.
I would also like to point out that even slightly suggesting the Byakugan is better than the Sharingan is so laughable that it makes Kakashi look like the biggest retard in Naruto, which says a lot. Kishimoto obviously wasn't planning more than one or two arcs ahead, unless you're saying he planned for Kaguya but didn't plan anything about the Sharingan.

Naruto ended with the best fight possible, Rock Lee VS Gara. The victory of the former over the later is not unsuspected but it's still a surprise, a sad one, but sad ending are good too. Naruto was trully a good shonen to bad they canceled it after that fight because it was just too good.

See? It's easy to put in absolutely no effort and pretend I've made a valid point. Saying it multiple times doesn't make it any more substantial.

As for an actual contribution to this mess, several others mentioned previously that the author likely wrote the character in to match up with previously established facts as to justify her existence, rather than drop hints over the course of a decade as if it were all planned out. This is more than likely, given the nature of these long-running shonen stories. It's incredibly unlikely that the final encounter came about as intended, even if it did previously exist as a concept. I say this simply because of the insane investment on the part of Madara's character. If anything, it feels like Kaguya came in just to get him out of the picture.

Of course, no one can actually prove this. We didn't write this shit. I simply feel that you're giving the author far too much credit in this, given the track record that we've seen in Naruto as a whole.

Why does the sharingan have to be basically the big special thing of checkra and, by proxy, the big thing of the ninja world,. Like it's basically the origin of ninjas? You can read movement and de facto predict attacks and copy any jutsu. Seems pretty fucking useful, right? Yeah, what was the last time it was used as that? The written exam in the chuunin arc?

By the end the jutsu copying thing doesn't even make sense since the sharingan already inherently posseses all the strongest jutsu.

Then you got the most powerful genjustsu which literally is so OP in theory that you win any fight as soon as your opponent makes eye contact with you. Damn that's strong, even though it is counterable if well prepareed against it.
When was the last time that power made a difference? Itachi coming to the villlage?

By the end, you could just look in the eye of even the most powerful sharingan wielder and is just fine.

And here is the thing, as the other guys said, Naruto has an unnatural amount of chakra even without the fox, and in the beginning of the series before meeting Jiraiya Naruto has this seal on his belly that is somehow botched and messes with his ability to use chakra (I forgot the details now). So in the pain fight he gets taken over by the fox again and becomes berserk and that is when I thought that the series was getting to the point where Naruto would have to get rid of the fox in order to grow especially since sage mode was just introduced as an alternative powerup. Guy getting to be hailed by Madara as the strongest person he ever faced besides Hashirama and Kakashi declaring that Guy became the strongest of the two is more than any other character besides Naruto and Sasuke got to do.

I recently read the entire manga cause I was feeling like reading a cheesy shounen. It was somewhat enjoyable but didn't like some parts. For example impure world resurrection was like total bullshit. I can't believe they can just resurrect a fuckton of dead people (whose corpse should either be well guarded, or lost somewhere) with no consequences other than having to sacrifice one person or something like that.
Anyways, are any of the action scenes from the anime worth watching? I wanted to enjoy some of the combats but when I started I tried to take a look at some of the exam scenes and didn't like the animation at all. Is any of them well animated?
