Anime in general have had a massive drop in quality in both creativeness and passion. Sure it was always about money, but people wanted to make things they wanted to make to get that money, that have changed. You should see the interviews with directors and workers inside the anime industry, kind of depressing. So when the general bar being this low, is not hard to go over it, but is also nto common. Add those together, once in a while show that is above the low bar, and suddenly you have something that catches peoples eye.
