About damn time. And I hate sample images. New GUP art is always awesome.
Well, looks like this is the new /ak/ thread too, right?
I'm putting the final few parts on for Groundless Ch. 6, will dump in about 15 minutes.
I hope in the future we I can get to see more of Italy's finest
Ok, 30 minutes. Don't stab me, Brutus.
Groundless Chapter 6! Time to pump some life
and textinto this thread!
Page 7 is being a little bitch and doesn't want to be uploaded normally, so here is a link:
It was even being problematic on here...
Now back to the dump, sorry again.
I know, this chapter has all sorts of fun things, like racism and command issues!
But no action. That's next chapter.
I don't know what race she is mixed of, they might say more in a later chapter.
And her name is Sophia, just for future reference
Checking the Volume 1 cover, it looks like she has Blue or Blue-Green eyes. It's a shame there are not more color pages, but that would also increase the workload exponentially.
I wonder where I've seen this image before...
And that's it for this chapter!
Credits will be finished when ProofreaderAnon gets around to working on this. I can only make so many Metal Gear jokes...
And that's exactly what I'm going to keep doing.
All of you guys discussing a possible S2 and expanding upon the existing characters or focusing more on SoL / characters interactions instead of tank warfare are missing some fundamental elements of the show.
The thing to keep in mind is that in the original GuP series the characters were more or less incidental, seemingly only there as an excuse to market a show about tanks. All of the leading protagonists are very simple in terms of character and arc. They each have distinct distinguishing qualities and dead-simple arcs that are devoted almost no screen time. Miho of course is the most significant, as it's very much intertwined with the main plot of the show, but it's still apparent that it's main job was to facilitate tank warfare, and to strictly stay out of the way.
And then you can look at for example Hana's arc. Hana's arc seems like it is designed specifically to underscore the absurdity of the central conceit of this world. Her entire character exists as the embodiment of the irony which permeates the whole show. Every action she takes and line she speaks is about juxtaposing her femininity with the intimidating world of tank combat.
And this can be expanded to the other main characters as well. They're all just homunculi who exist as metaphors for different aspects of the world of the show, or as avatars for the fans or even creators of the show. Then you get into the supporting cast and theme characters. The theme characters exist almost entirely as referential totems. The history team is an excuse to nerd out with infodumps, and to appeal to the military otaku audience the show is aimed at.
To be clear, I love all of these things about the show.
And here is Volume 1's cover, for reference on eye color and such.
>Girls und Panzer is not a serious franchise. Do not expect gritty realism or heartbreak. It’s a story about cute high school girls, friendship and overcoming adversity through friendship. It’s not violent at all, despite the tank battles, instead it could best be described as a modification on the “moe” (pronounced mo-ay) genre. Moe series tend to be about “cute girls doing cute things” often eating cake, singing or running a shop – typical girly cute things. G und P has the cute girls, and it is just that the cute thing they do is drive tanks.
Holy Shit, WTF. Absolutely Disgusting.
My point is that the intent of the show was obviously not to heavily develop the characters in their own right. The characters are all tools with very specific purposes utilized efficiently to push forward the story and therefore the tanks battles of the show. None of the characters have any real complexity or depth (with the possible exception of Maho, but she's not really explored either). Some of them hardly even have characters, even some of the characters who have become beloved by the fans (Pekoe).
Now obviously all of these characters have been greatly expanded upon in assorted manga spinoffs, and the potential for development is of course there, but the important thing is that the creators of the show rejected that possibility. They had a very specific goal in mind, and strong character development was not an important part of achieving that goal. And, I would argue, the show is stronger for it.
Could they spend a second season digging into characters, their backstories, and their interactions? Could they take a character like Darjeeling who exists in the show as nothing more than a personification of wartime Great Britain and give her an actual character, expanding upon her relationship with Pekoe who before existed exclusively for Darjeeling to say British things to her? They could, but I'd call it an odd choice. While all these things happened in RR and LA etc., they would necessitate such a departure from the original nature of the show that I don't think it could be called the same thing. When you viewed those things side by side I can't imagine them hanging together as a whole.
I could go on about this all day, but what I'm saying is that a sequel is going to focus on plot and conflict, it's not gonna dive into SoL stuff with the characters center stage. They just haven't constructed characters who are capable of being what that story would need.
But GuP isnt just about Panzers. It's Girls und Panzers. And I wouldn't mind more of the Girls part. Sure one or three battles per cour would be fine, but seeing the Girls doing cute and fun things with some tanks mixed in would be nice too. Like how they take their tanks out of school at times like they were bikes basically. I'd also like to see Miho and crew visiting other schools. Just seeing the school carriers is just wetting the appetite. Anyway, I just want to see more. Milk the series for all its worth. it's better than watching stuff like Charlotte, Rakudai, Comet Lucifer, and all the other moe shows.
Discussing the show is not "bait".
Opinions other than your own are not "bait", they are opinions.
Clearly, the solution is to also turn the panzers into girls.
Girls und Panzer + Tank Witches would be weird.
I want muh panzers though
b8 is meant to be eaten. Hence it is b8.
Anyway, it just came to me. Imagine a Sports Day ep for GuP. Could you imagine what fun that would be if it added in crazy tank action. Imagine a relay race with tanks.
Or a School Festival ep. History Club could finish their Little Woman Play. More Anko 5 action, more Tank Magic!
Xmas ep too. Damn, so much stuff to see.
If I had a medic like that I'd be getting myself injured all the damn time.
My sentiments exactly.

Is this supposed to be "Black hair"? Or does she actually have back hair?

Not really sure why these are questions.
>I don't understand you...
>and when something goes wrong, then you
Then "and" and "then" seem unnecessary here.
"when something goes wrong you"
Need a comma here, "resources, and"
I'll just assume this is correct, as it seems like some fantasy location that I haven't seen referenced before.

Thanks for the hard work Lardagus.
I don't disagree with you, I would certainly enjoy something that explored the characters more deeply, I'm just saying why I don't think that's likely to happen. I think that the same formula will be applied in different ways.
The image that we have of the characters is modified by stuff like RR and LA to a point where it only superficially aligns with the actual characters in the original series. Most of the way that I think about characters like Darjeeling and Pekoe, and Katyusha and Nonna, is informed more by RR than by the original series at this point, and the gap between those two realities is pretty wide.
Well, I won't be so pessimistic. I agree they want to show tanks, but I think the characters were more because they were realistic for a one-cour show that never intended to make it Big than because they really don't want to show characters. They've also gone about as far as they really can with a "tank-heavy" approach with der Film (Karl isn't even a tank anymore!) The "plot" in GuP is never the priority effort. So if they are going to Season 2, they'll have to pick some team and explore them.
I don't think I'm being pessimistic. But you're right, GuP isn't really about the plot. The plot is pretty generic sports drama. And it's not really about the characters either. If I had to boil down the essence of what the series is about, I'd have to say it's about:
2. Light self-awareness and absurdism
Everybody knows what's gonna happen in the plot from the first episode, and everybody knows how the characters are going to evolve. If the show were dependent on the plot or character development for success then it would have failed. If it had been k-on with tanks then it would have failed. We wouldn't all be here talking about it still. GuP is a fantasy world designed specifically for military otaku, from the tanks to the girls. It's this fact, and the fact that it doesn't take itself very seriously, that it manages to hit just the right balance of maintaining appearances and winking at its own ridiculousness, that makes it so endearing.
So the question for the producers is, do we attempt to hold to that balance? Once you try to make these characters feel more real, or for that matter verge further into comedy territory, then you've got a totally different formula on your hands. Will it be the same lightning in a bottle that the series was? Or do you go with a "same but different" approach? Where you try to apply the same formula but to different material?
Everything that we've heard from the producers on this topic seems to point to the latter. They've said that they don't want to do a S2 unless they can do it without retreading the same ground. If you're willing to change the nature of the show, like LA or RR did, then that's no problem. But if you're trying to keep to the successful formula of the show, then doing it while having original and novel material is the real trick. We might like more one-off battles like the Anzio OVA, but that sort of stuff isn't compelling enough for a second season. It's not different enough.
Awesome. Thanks you, too!
I'll have these done tomorrow morning, with it being uploaded by tomorrow night.
And do you want me to post the corrections like some of the others, or don't worry about it? I've been wondering...
I'd prefer if you did in case of new errors introduced in the corrections. In the last thread one of my suggestions was transcribed incorrectly into the corrections (the typesetter made a typo while putting in my suggestions).
Got it, I'll dump them from now on for a final check.
This weeks chapter (7) will be delayed due to my semester starting, just so you know. Expect around Monday the 25th or so...
Been binge watching a show called "Longmire", it's pretty damn good. Going to finish the current season, then finish "Foyle's War", which is also spectacular. Sorry for the blogshit, just needed to put that and some 40mm HEout there.
See the very troll post you answer to for a good explanation (belive it or not) of why:
Grimderps convinced that only darker and edgier is "serious" are for a rude awakening. Or they should be, if not for the fact that the alarm clock has been sounding since times of fucking Aristophanes, yet they remain unaware.
Tsk, tsk... They're unable to conceive that there are more than one way of telling a tale.
So, we WILL have to endure them.Deal with it. Simply don't reply to troll posts (this one is quoted as example, not as endorsement)
Should have had a text ending say "They cuddled alot after''
One of the biggest strength GuP has as a franchise is that the show can focus on tank battles while the spin-offs compensate for the lack of character development.
If you want character interaction you can read RR and if you want character development there's LA. I'd love to see more OVAs and sequels by Mizushima but if he feels he's done with GuP i hope that we'll see more spin-offs by different authors with different tones and girl to panzer ratio.
I can't lose.
A full kettle of tea is a stake here.
Waiting is part of being GuP fan anon.
commie lolis are best lolis
I wish I have a garupan cutout to diddle with
I wan to hear form an Arisafag why does he like her.
Gee! how come your mom lets you have four tracks?
>then finish "Foyle's War", which is also spectacular.
It really is, quite deconstruction of the whole unified Homefront with people killing each other over petty reasons.
I specially liked the episode with the american businesman and Foyle telling him that he only has free pass until the wars end. And then in the last episode of the WW2 arc Foyle actually boards a ship heading to US.
Well, I have to disagree with that. Any good show is about the characters.Even if it wasn't intended, authors were talented enough to give them personalities in a vey limited time. If we didn't care about girls, we would also didn't care about tanks. The sheer amount and diversity of cute girls is remarkable. You can replace tanks with Mobile Suits and nothing would change, the show would still work. The plot is as "whatever" as it gets though.
>They've said that they don't want to do a S2 unless they can do it without retreading the same ground.
Watching Ooarai win the second year would be pretty boring. The answer to that is raise the stakes, make them fight bigger adversary. But they have already did that in the movie. Finding even bigger enemy would be problematic.
So the only answer is for Ooarai to pass the torch. But even with that, just making new protagonists go through the same road to victory is boring unless they are in completely different starting conditions.
So are you gonna do it or just stand there? I don't have all day.
>But even with that, just making new protagonists go through the same road to victory is boring unless they are in completely different starting conditions.
There is always the BC Freedom ship... I think there is story potential for having a school that is in the middle of a cold war.
Maho will die, but her soul will go back in time to the time she was happiest, and that is playing tanks with Miho when they were still children. Erika who loves Maho wants to be with her too and want to be in a time where Maho would love her. But since Maho already love Miho, Erika will go back in time and become their mother.
Don't most Japanese believe in reincarnation? Cause they could be reborn at a later time with the same family name. There souls could be changed into that order. Or they could have a 3rd sister being Erika with the same mother.
>completely different starting conditions.
Timeskip two years from now, ex-fresnmen commanding a whole new team FOR THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!! (Tm) while the rest of the team does cameos (example, Miho runs her own senshado dojo and is Oarai's part-time instructor like Ami once was).
It is doable, because keeps the characters but allows for new situations that aren't just a repeat.
It's still mostly the same thing, with foreign-themed schools replaced with foreign school. DIFFERENT would be something like Juusensha or Ribbon Warrior (just as an example). Or how about lighthearted Mad Max type setting with girls and tanks instead of cars?
Make them drive around semi-decrepit society, like in MM1 with towns still being there doing relatively fine, but roads between them in chaos rulled by tanker gangs. And did I forgot about Max having cancer?
Introducing Erika, cute self-propelled girl ready to go beyond Thunderdome.
don't feel like TL'ing anything this weekend, so have proper scans for the Trench Flowers vol. 1 cover at least
Kamimura sure likes to draw those butts
not like I mind
those garters are indeed commendations for previous battles
I wish more artists would include pages like these with chara names in plane text
Just ordered that thing. Can't wait.
I'm planning to go to the UK to find classy ladies like these
What do you suggest, Britbros?
I hope they will expand on the new teams
Yes, it is similar, but it can still work. Many shows do "Bigger and Better Repeats" (Prefectural to National to World) and make it work at least reasonably.
They've already solved the biggest part, actually finding a sweet spot that attracts enough a sequel is actually commercially possible.
Also, it's not the same. It's not a matter of "BIGGER ENEMY", it's a different kind of challenge. Allows for different things to be done, and the authors said they wanted *not* to go fir "BIGGER ENEMY Z++!!!.
Not saying they'll go that way, only that if we ever have a S2 much likely will be something like that (in the "a different thing" sense).
I'm probably going to London this October, I wonder if I wil be able to visit Bovington tonks.
Actually Nogami draws character in RW more womanly than girly (when he gives a fuck about drawing properly). Even his Pekoe looks more adult then anime Pekoe.
The amount of porn being posted of her disgusts me.
>(when he gives a fuck about drawing properly)
You murdered my sides
No arousal? Or are you disturbed by your own state of arousal?
What is this expression trying to convey?
I honestly have no idea even though I read the translation
Neither. You don't lewd the Mika. The sanctity of her body is reserved for the darkness of the bedroom.
Anon every human face muscle twitching has a specific meaning.
Biting the lip or sucking it inwards is a sign of suppressing abger/unease or desire to say something. The eyebrows rurned downwards. Her cheecks are tens, as it would be in stress, but she's trying to not let her eyes become thinner. Especially noticeable in left eye.
tl;dr she's frustrated, but is trying her best not to show it
>tl;dr she's frustrated, but is trying her best not to show it
I was guessing "on the verge of bursting into childish tears" or "about to snap for real". Both of those are not Jajka-like.
End of chapter 10
>to feed zurek
>mfw żurek and sucking at senshado is probably the only things Bonple has been known for in GuPverse before tankathlon began
What those posts have to do with each other?
Has anyone here seen the movie yet? on a level of 1 -10, (1 being great and 10 being godly), how was it?
Haven't seen it, but I can infer it's 8 out of 10.
It's very easy to think that it's linked to a statement about Nogami not drawing properly, therefore it says that that drawing of Jajka is bad, even thought it's pretty good. In fact, that's what I thought and was confused too.
Not him, but that's a very tenuous relation. The main point of that post was to point out something and ridicule it. So I can understand why he didn't just assume "oh he's only talking the "my sides" aspect."
I don't like this meme at all but I admit, I chuckled a bit.
Polish version of this song sucks balls though, which is kind of an achievement because the original is shitty enough on its own.
>now playing EVERYWHERE
I understand you, Anon.
also saved captcha pic for further reaction usage, have it as a gift
therein lies the difference
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I am at the top of my class in Bonple High School, and I’ve been involved in numerous tankathlon matches, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in brown bear warfare and I’m the top gunner in the entire Bonple tankathlon team. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the radio? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my friends from Saunders and your tank is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with a tankette. Not only am I extensively trained in using the TKS and 7TP, but I have access to the restored 10TP prototype given to me personally by Grandmaster Jajka and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will pour żurek all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.
>not in Finnish with Sako face
You're not /ak/ enough
>The only good thing about Nonna is her boobs.
But Jajka hasn't yet shown any gayness at all, which is something considering she's in an "off the charts" spin-off. She's probably more battlesexual than Shizuka.
Don't forget her loyalty. She would probably jump into fire for Katyusha.
>Don't forget her loyalty. She would probably jump into fire for Katyusha.
I want cute jihadi girls doing cute jihadi things
Where would you take Yukari on your first date?
Hard mode: no tank museums.
why do edgelords like to ruin everything?
>nice towards Shizuka
Because she hasn't been thoroughly humilliated by her, yet
Jajka likely grudges herself to sleep every night about envy of Nonna's larger... assets at her disposal, that she refuges into Tankathlon, a sport better suited for those with smaller... frontal armor in their vehicles.
This is true. She just wants a boyfriend and to be loved. It's obviously why she acts out so.
>she has just shown lots of anger, envy and butthurt
Well, that's to be expected given her situation. Imagine you want to take part in a respected and well-known senshado competition, but from the very beggining you are bound to lose, because your schoolmates can, and will use absolutely legal means to effortlessly undermine your every attempt to form a competetive team. Then you take a few seemingly useless tanks and a handful of comrades to conquer the only stage you can - tankathlon. And then you hear that your arch-enemy, who has an absolute power in her school and treats you like an insect, joins tankathlon just for shits and giggles.
I would be kind of pissed. Also Bonple is confirmed to be rich, so even if they wanted to stick to the national theme, they could use a Firefly for example.
>she has just shown lots of anger, envy and butthurt
That's not necessarily a bad thing. Her burning passion is what makes her sympathetic. She probably wouldn't have been able to sit in the snow without learning the humiliation of unwinnable battles and she wouldn't be interesting for the reader. So she can't win at Senshado, Senshado isn't everything in the world. Katyusha was born a midget and Nonna is a pedophile lesbian. It's like bite a tough titty. If even Shizuka the chuunibyou can grow a little, maybe she can too.

Holy shit. Distract me with cute garupans.
>he doesn't know that the /ak/ subs exist due to paternal love
I never was on a date, so I don't really know. I would prefer to stay home to be honest. Does it have to be something about tanks? If it's about tanks I guess I can hold a conversation. I think I would want someone else to be there with us to make it more fun.
Mizushima is the director and writer.
The script supervisor is female.
>I think I would want someone else to be there with us
>on a date
Why would sound tactical moves and righteous fury need that?
I don't mind silence, but most people think it's uncomfortable. With more than 2 people at least she would be able to talk with someone when I have nothing to say. I mean I can just talk about tanks for 2 hours, but I will run out of thing to say eventually. I don't think I should push my own nerdom (like rambling about videogames) on her or bother her with talk about other pointless things that interest me. And I think even she would get a little tired from telling stories about tanks. 3 people is optimal number.
While yes, it makes socializing easier, a date is SPECIFICALLY intended for intimate connection between two people. It's going to be awkward, because you're breaking the ice and barriers and getting comfortable and to know each other. If you include someone else the intimacy is gone.
If there's silence and boredom, it is either on you or you two just simply aren't compatible.
>it is either on you
Or maybe it's on the other person. It's not like a person who's like TONKSTONKSTONKS all the time is that easy to talk with. I mean, she didn't even have friends before Ankou.
>he can't TONKSTONKSTONKS for hours without stopping for breath
Sorry, can't do.
If it's only tanks, then your relationship won't have anything else. You won't kiss, because it's unnecessary if you only want to talk about tanks. Basically, Yukari's boyfriend would probably have nothing to do with tanks if he can become genuinely close to her.
Even though I prefer Soviet tanks, Jadgpanther is the cutest. Mainly, the whole glacis being one plate is the most beautiful thing.
Soon™. Japan will soon learn that Islam is religion of peace
I want to load my penetrating round in to Yukari's Breech.
>Anon not here!

It's a joke, about her weird hair.
Page 4 revised:
>why is it a question?
Because he (racism mustachio) is kinda pissed off, being confrontational about it. It's like me asking "What? Me? I'M the problem?"
You may also notice I didn't draw that easy SFX. That's because I liked the line of SFXs basically telling the battle.
It's the island they live on, it's called Alistria.
I did mistype the name of it, so corrected that, but no other visible errors on this page.
