I found it really amusing, kind of comical for some reason .. can't put my finger on it but for example seeing Yuno grab an actual bag of bread is hilarious to me. It's also an interesting contrast bringing in real-world objects into a slightly surreal setting. I really wish they kept doing that throughout the series, although I guess it's nice in its own way that the show subtly evolves season to season in look and feel.

They did a really good job in the last season to allude to the graduation as "the point of no return." Even knowing that, man was it a hard-hitter.

There were a lot of "rain summoning rituals." throughout

Wow, this is a good thread for a show that hasn't had new anime for two years. Then again the content is a step above other slice of life, I'm glad the same can be said for the fans. I watched the first season a few years ago and am looking to get back into it, if you were in my position would you watch the rest of the anime seasons+ovas and then read the manga, or read the manga first and then get to the anime? Either way I will probably space it out, but I'm leaning towards anime first just because I sometimes get bored watching stuff I've read, but I usually don't mind reading content I've watched the adaptation of

I definitely like the manga more, but 365 is a great season, so you should probably at least watch it. After Hoshimittsu they start skipping chapters, so it's around that point that the manga starts to feel more whole.

But even if you read the manga first, the anime still has plenty of original content, although the later seasons have less.

With this strangled cry, Hiro dropped from her standing position on the scale into a crouch and clenched her fists on the floor in anger. Why? Even after weeks- months- no, years- of attempting this diet she hadn't prevailed at all. Despite all her efforts they had amounted to next to nothing.

She was fat. Undeniably so. What, with her so called 'fluffy' cheeks and 'fluffy' body. What about her was fluffy...?!

Tears of frustration pooled in her eyes and she erupted into a blood-curdling scream. "Why did this happen to me?!"

No one appeared to have heard her, which was just as well, because she began pounding the tiled floor with her fists as sobs wracked her body and self-loathing consumed her. She was fat. Fat fat fat fat fat fat fat. No matter what others said. They were all liars, or just damn blind if they couldn't see her- ahem, ''fluffy''- body's state at its size.

Still shivering in sadness, Hiro glanced up, her face tear stained and miserable. Clutching her stomach with one arm, she began crawling over to the toilet, and the moment she was knelt next to it stuck a single finger down her throat.

Ugly. Ugly and fat. Ugly ugly ugly.

I like the anime more, the manga is great too but I don't think there's a downside to this adaptation. You're not missing out on really good art that can't be replicated in the anime and the music and voices are really good. I read the manga after watching and enjoyed it just fine.
