Editing these becomes hard because there's a lot of conflict about what should be added and removed. I'd argue Cat Soup should be added as a movie for example but a lot of people here would argue it's a pretentious piece of shit
Straight up I think if you're gonna make a chart it's better to do it yourself. Making it a group effort homogonizes (that a word?) the hell out of the tastes on it. The best charts are ones with a bit of personality to them.
Then let's edit that one on genre-wise chart.
Leave the movie for other day, and I don't trust /a/ on music taste
What do you think about genre-wise chart
I think Garden of Words could replace 5cm per second on Scenery porn
And maybe some of SHAFT animu could enter in Artsy
I've seen it all but I'm impressed at some of the more underrepresented picks on there. Like, I'd never have watched Nandaka Velonica if it hadn't been recommended to me, but it was great.
I like these chart. But it's old
I just think some new anime just worth add into
Already think of adding another category?
Sigh, fine. Do you have something on your mind? Five name at least
Like this one? It's a roll chart though
Might as well later
What will he do next, and Gdgd Movie subs when?
Maybe I should make one for 2015 now the year is over. I really don't know though it is basically just going to be Animator Expo, a few miscellaneous shorts, Miss Hokusai, Bakemono no Ko, Yuri Kuma, Hibike Eupho, LWA 2.
This is what I had back in August last year.
Off the top of my head. Of these Taifuu no Naruda is iffy and oughta be replaced probably, and Slight Fever is debatably a 2014 release.
There's a ton of indie I haven't seen yet, and stuff like Sugar Lump or Such a Good Place to Die aren't out yet.
If you wanna dig through some other short films, I haven't seen most of these.
And here we go.
Awwww, I forgot to add this.
Everything will be daijoubu, anon.
Lots of redundancies and outdated/questionable charts, which I suppose is to be expected for such a large collection.
Also lots of very good charts I've never seen before.
Pretty good all things considered.
How many have you seen?
Thanks. Here's one I think you're missing.
It's a unique experience.
What the fuck is he trying to say here?
I don't see Ping Pong, and considering the shit put on these lists, I'm wondering why?
>kiki's delivery service
I'm aware that this chart is bait and filled with normie pleb movies but this is taking it too far.
Kiki's is great. The ones that really don't belong there are Sky Crawlers and The Cat Returns, they're shit. Also, why does Yobi seem to make it onto all these anime charts? Was there some Jap participation I don't know about?
>Slayers is their pick for classic fantasy
>Baccano! set in Chicago
>Bebop is space opera
>'essential' is a science fiction genre
>Ergo Proxy of all things is 'essential'
>Describes somthing as 'forced drama', recommends it anyway
>NGE is a thriller
>NGE is somthing that people need to be 'ready for'
Its actually quiet upsetting how little thought seems to have gone into this.
Was just asking out of interest desu. FLCL to me is a masterpiece but I don't really consider comedy its focus. Would check out Ai Mai Mi but I'm not sure our tastes collide. Sayonara is probably my second favorite after Jinrui but DMC barely made my smile.
This whole thing is terrible, but in fairness, pretty much every newfag who watches NGE is unprepared, and anyone who's picking up NGE for the first time based on this chart is pretty fucking new.
Ai Mai Mi is just a personal thing, I know a lot of people don't like it or find it pretty dumb, or that the humour is too random. If you decide to watch it and end up liking it, Fushigi na Somera-chan from the same author which aired last season is pretty great too.
I do love Jinrui too though.
I've seen all the anime and read all the manga on those lists.
What do now
Dear god, there's been such a huge improvement in quality of animated series since the middle of the 90s. Are any of the shows before Nadia original anime? Besides the Gundam, Macross and Votoms?
Because everyone who knows of Taiyou Matsumoto would know of Ping Pong as his most well known. He's overrepresented on the manga charts in the form of a bunch of other things and he's a recommended mangaka on one of them. Even if I preferred Ping Pong, I'd rather have Takemitsu on the charts than it.
Future Boy Conan is original. I'm not really sure about the huge improvement you talk about though, it all has its merits. It really depends what you are talking about when you say quality. If by quality you mean just being better all round I would disagree. Older TV anime shows do to tend to have poorer animation. Backgrounds do tend to be more photo realistic and characters more detailed in modern times. The older TV shows do also tend to also be more aimed at children rather than adults so if that puts you off its easy to see why you would think that as well.
A lot of those older shows are still among my favourites though but I think the real wisdom is to acknowledge that anime across all generations is mostly mediocre or bad with a few gems each year.
The thing that makes there be a difference between the number of shows on each chart (the number of gems each year) is that in the earlier years there were far fewer TV anime being made. 1975 had a total of 15 shows for example. I would say the proportion of good, noteworthy shows as expressed in terms of overall shows per a year has remained fairly constant it is just there are far more shows being made after Evangelion. The more times you shoot at a target the more chances you have to get a bullseye.
There is also the consideration that as Western fans many of which do not know Japanese there are a considerable number of shows from older time periods that we cannot watch due to lack of subtitling. Only the most popular shows from before 1980 have any kind of English availability. Although that can correlate with quality to some extent, most of the great stuff is subbed.
>NGE saved anime
Am I wrong for writing off anything written by someone who claims something "saved anime"?
That was an old version.
This one is a bit more recent. It didn't improve main flaws, but at least it's way less shitty.
please stop posting my shit here, the only reason those things should ever be posted here is by me looking for a way to make them less shitty
It's odd that posting of recommendation charts here is allowed to persist when a board has been created specifically for that purpose. I mean I am not going to sperg out about it or anything and posting a recommendation chart here and there isn't a problem when it is appropriate. So while this isn't really a recommendation thread as much as a thread for posting recommendation charts you have to wonder what place does a thread for dumping recommendation charts on /a/ have when /wsr/ was recently created specifically for this purpose?
