Why I love Gurren lagann so much but i can't bring myself to like Kill la kill
>>136201076
Gurren Lagann had soul. Something which every man could feel when shit got real and the main cast went through their troubles. The animation and direction were also a lot better.
Kill la Kill was too silly, it lacked focus and was generally all over the place. Even it's theme of duality was very weak compared to the strong message of believing in yourself and others that come after you.
Overall, Gurren Lagann is simple but very well made. You can feel the passion and heart it has. Kill la Kill didn't know what it wanted to be.
Same here. I think it's just that I was hyped about humans being the man and pushing it further.
>>136201186
I think they tried but just gived up and thought GLfags will suck their dicks
Man I can't watch mecha anime because Gurren lagann set the bar so high well beside eureka seven i watched that like two months ago but only reason watch e7 because it wasn't military type mecha anime
Gurren Lagann, not so good.
>>136201824
Gurren Lagann is pretty much the best super robot anime.
Read the Getter Saga if you want something almost as good.
>>136201824
Gurrenn Lagann isn't indicitive of the genre as a whole. It's extremely over-the-top. There are a lot of good series out there.
>>136201912
Alright recommend me some mecha anime to watch anon
>>136202666>>>/wsr/I don't watch mecha
>>136202666
hey satan check out gunbuster, it's super cheesy but it's pretty good and ttgl references to tons of stuff from it
>>136201186
Its funny how GL bored me so much that for a while i dropped it. Nothing happens except shounen development. It felt generic but went ok with the pretty animation+Yuko. KLK never bored me one second i always had something to interest me and the plot was real, there was a goal from the start and it held on to it.
>>136202840
Alrighty then thats my animu to watch
>>136202666
Bocu no Pico
Fuck off
>>136201076
I feel the same way but in reverse. I love KLK but TTGL is kinda meh
Gurren lagann is shit. Fuck off pleb
>>136203108
this meme is a thing?
>>136203128
thank you anon
>>136203118
Did you watch Klk first or GL
>>136203244
I watched both with /a/ as they aired.
>>136203401
what? Gurren lagann came out in 2007 or 08
you watch gurren lagann on adult swim or somethang
>>136203535
It came out in 2007 dude, during the void between Geass seasons, but it wasn't anywhere near as fun to watch.
>>136203244
Gurren
truthfully i don't see why people like KlK over GL but not gonna judge
>>136203535
>tumblr
>implying /a/ didn't exist in 2007
gtfo and learn your history newfag.
>>136203742
Wasn't implying shit. a anon said he watched them both as they aired so yeah
>>136201076
TTGL is a master piece.
KLK is a good anime.
Next question.
>>136203951
Next question: Can I lick your eye
>>136203645
TTGL had aces more hype than KLK. I enjoyed them both, but TTGL had me waving my fists in the air and feeling my BP rise. KLK was silly and funny, but the stakes weren't as high, all things considered.
TTGL has like, the biggest hype in anime because they go from living in a cave tothrowing galaxies at each other
One day Kamina will stop being the most overrated character ever.
>>136204128
Yeah he's overrated but i think because he's a big brother figure
>GL was about cute boys
>KLK was about cute girls
>/a/ prefers GL
Hmm gosh wonder why
Op here I'm hitting my rock thanks for chat and small amount of shitposting
>>136204214
Onlyshota Simonwas cute.
>>136204214
Gl had a better story and characters Klk is too goofy and you can't it seriously and mako is annoying
>>136204214
I'm a cute girl so identify with KLK, everyone else is merely pretending to be a little girl and therefore they like TTGL
kill la kill had better characters and it was more entertaining
>>136201076
TTGL had generic characters but knew how to balance its drama and comedy, and kept a pretty tight story the entire way through.
KLK had fun characters in a plot that went in a thousand different directions and lost track of what the fuck it was trying to do after five episodes, and was cracking a joke wherever it was physically possible.
They're two different beasts and while KLK was fun to watch when it was airing I don't think I could ever return to it like I can with TTGL. It doesn't really hold up on repeat viewings.
>>136201076
Because the script was slightly more consistent in here than it was in Kill la Kill?
But I definitely going to give Nakashima props for not adding any romance in Kill la Kill.
Why is this thread so full of stupid people.I feel bad for the OP.
But I mean look at people like >>136203535. Just look at them.
>>136206492
>Full of stupid people
Aside of that one faggot, most people here are giving their two cents without shitposting so far, which is a lot more of what you can expect from a TTGL or a KLK thread.
So stop exaggerating.
>>136201848
youre not so good
The only significant reason I can see for why someone would like one and not the other is because TTGL and manly and KLK is ecchi. Other than that it's basically the same thing except for how the fights are presented (robots for TTGL, power suits for KLK).
Nostalgia goggles.
Because Kill la kill was a piece of shit that had almost zero direction and sold itself on the girls in scad clothing, it lacked a sustainable story, it sells itself purely on fanservice
>>136207107
Yoko is walking ecchi and Nia's skirt is literally an inch away from showing her underwear.
>>136204128
One day you will take off that trip and stop being the biggest faggot ever.
>>136201076
ttgl was about overcoming impossible odds to save humanity through the power of friendship, klk 's plot just seems like "girl problems" in comparison.
>>136207882
KLK was also about overcoming the barrier between species and validating your existence as much as TTGL was just about a boy growing up.
Simon and Kamina was more enduring
Simon only had one low point and when he snapped out of it he never looked back
whereas Ryuko just kept breaking down every other episode
Kamina tricked the audience and characters into thinking that he was your typical super mech MC only for people to learn he wasn't that strong at all but still gathered them and gave them strength
Satsuki oppressed everyone, played into her mother's hands, and everyone in the audience knew she was a failure at everything (though I guess she is hot).
Because TTGL had a male character you can self-insert into.
Ryuuko is a better character than the entire cast of TTGL combined.
In reality they are both substance-less trash.
>>136204214
>>136204128
He was a balatant rip off of Gai Daigoji
Though I don't expect newfags to watch Nadesico.
>>136201076
Because kill la kill had boring fights, wonky power levels, and the pacing kind of shat itself halfway through the first part because of the first 2 reasons.
>>136207243
> it sells itself purely on fanservice
Did we watch the same thing? Aside from a few segments where it was just for fanservice the animators went out of there way to make a scantily clad highschool girl as sexually unappealing as possible
Gurren Lagann is the Sword Art Online of mecha
Gurren Lagann had a way better soundtrack. Better plot points and the plot seemed very branching. And Kill la Kill's artstyle takes the cartoony feel a bit too far, and makes it look mega shitty.
>>136204128
>overrated
He was a likable character. I don't understand why that's so hard to comprehend.
>>136210416
>likable
He singlehandedly ruined the entire show for me.
>>136201076
Because TTGL didn't have an obnoxious comedy relief character that would interrupt every serious moment.
I like both of them, but there's no doubt that TTGL is leagues above KlK.
TTGL has a very clear message it's trying to convey: that through determination and willpower you can get stronger and better yourself every day, and to let nothing stand in your way to achieve your dreams. Everyone can connect to this. This is expanded even further by the clear buildup the series had: you start out at literally the lowest point (underground) and every episode builds up and gets bigger until you end up in space, the size of multiple galaxies.
KlK, on the other hand, had a plot that went all over the place without showing a real gradual build-up. It felt like a bunch of stuff was always happening, and then there were some plot points, more stuff happened and then it's the climax, instead of having a logical and clear arc. It also had a problem with balancing humor and drama, both of which went to such extremes they clashed and felt out of place when the series constantly flip-flopped between the two.
Both were very fun to watch, had fun characters and had lots of hype, but TTGL has a properly thought out narrative and structure which made each of these things much more potent.Satsuki is best girl though
TTGL took itself way too seriously.
>>136210594
he died episode, what, 5?
>>136211193
>meanings
TTGL WAS A GAG
KiK was fanservice and gags masquerading as plot
