Been there. Trying to get people with any semblance of artistic talent to work together is like herding fucking cats. Was working on a MG VN back when /mgg/ was on /a/. I was the only person with any programming experience. Everyone who signed on to edit left quickly, leaving just the writers, one artist, one dude to do coloring, and me. Of the writers, the only one who ever actually put anything in the dropbox was the one who wasn't doing solo shit on the side. I enjoyed the game, but the soundtrack was by far the most memorable part and really makes me nostalgic. I'm not sure if that's because it is a good, distinct soundtrack or I rarely play JRPGs/VNs so I am not familiar with typical OST styles.

To be fair, the selection of books available from a small-ish Japanese library would be somewhat limited. I hardly expect that even Yamaku has a Japanese-language copy of Gravity's Rainbow or The Brothers Karamazov, as well-endowed as it may be.

Plus, even readers with good taste read short, shit books like Life of Pi from time to time. Anyone who actually reads a decent amount could easily knock it out in less than a night.
