No, not the same Anon. However having Group did ground the story a bit in terms of someone to identify with and was great with Hamazura who was also new. Not sure what the problem was exactly. Touma being there it seemed like it needed to focus more on him or just not have him be there at all. I was interested in this other city that was trying to take on Academy City. I thought the fighting tournament at the start was interesting. I think I found the beginning of the book more interesting compared to the end. So overall feels like an average story.

It might be an "easy" answer but I say volume 15. Not just for the way he handled the battles, but because he managed to neatly combine hamazura's decision to protect, accelerator's conflict with kakine, and all of the smaller plotlines with GROUP and ITEM.

I think NT11 is up there but OT15 just felt like it packed a punch. It's probably one of two or three volumes I can go back and reread without getting bored of it.

As a group they are interesting in NT4 you have too many to care much so kid not Kihara and fake wheelchair Kihara just get lost as generic villains. The dog and the latest one at least had some buildup. But the big take away from the volume is oh Kihara's are really an important thing. So not saying the volume is bad but more setup compared to payoff.

Accelerator felt like the same as the Mikoto fight. Even though Accelerator came first and the Mikoto one should have felt redundant it didn't. Using the white wings before had been this huge epic event and by using it against Touma means he is serious about the whole situation but he isn't so it just cheapens the wings, compared to the same fight in WW3. Touma is always creative so not sure that it changed much.

Mikoto fight was the same letting the other person win but was about both Touma and Mikoto where the battle didn't mean anything. It was for Touma about him hating that he threw away a perfect world and Mikoto telling him that he was wrong. For Mikoto it was her finally beating Touma and it being meaningless for her.

The Index confrontation did have such potential but it mostly showed that while Birdway could at least understand what was going on Index was clueless. This was the point it just clicked Index is going to stay pointless for the rest of the story, hopefully that changes.

I think Kamachi missed an opportunity with NT10. It would be really nice if he extended the idea of Touma and Othinus (without god powers, in her human form) being hunted and wrote a major arc with them fighting some big bad while still being pursued, playing various factions against each other and regaining allies. It would be a nice change of pace, an opportunity to put >understanding into actual use and a chance for Othinus to redeem herself.
She could also start living with Touma in her human form after that arc for increased lewds and buttfrustration of other girls.

Anyway, most of content after Othinus arc was shit or average at best.

I actually liked the 'boss rush' because it was less about the bosses and more about showcasing how Touma usually resolves these fights throughout the entire Index franchise. First fight was a warmup and shows Touma's use of improvised items to augment his lack of actual power (i.e coffee against terrorist), the fight against Agnese is about Touma's dungeon bypass strategy (Italy Arc), Russian forces is about Touma near instinctual ability to dissect the supernatural to know how to effectively counter it (Terra of the left), Kanzaki and co shows his ability to understand people to use it to his advantage and to rely on friends to help out, Five-Over/US/Railgun is about his limitations and weaknesses, Marian is as normal to an actual fight as it gets, the maid Saint is about Touma insane durability and unwillingly to give up despite his injuries, Thor is more about Touma's outside the box thinking, and finally, the fight against Othinus is about living his life correctly. Touma rarely does straight fights as each volumes is usually about getting Touma to the boss so he can deliver the final punch, so I was genuinely puzzled why everyone was expecting Fiamma/Accelerator levels of straight-up fighting from it.

Pre-amnesia Touma felt bad he gave Index spoiled food. He was angry at himself when he found her covered in blood. He wanted to save her anyway possible. He did not "crave" her company. This follows all of the characters that Touma meets in the series. Until NT11 we didn't ever get to meet pre-amnesia Touma again, but this matches what he has done the whole series. If Touma ends up with any girl Index and Mikoto are likely the top choices as they have been in the series since the first volume.

What the look at his life pre amnesia is that Touma mostly acts the same in terms of how he goes about rescuing those in need. Post amnesia probably has a more positive outlook on life but it was surprising the differences were not more pronounced.

He doesn't want anybody to have to suffer. Touma was worried that Index was actually in trouble and he was more worried about school and didn't help her out. He was relived that the story she said of being chased and in grave danger wasn't true and she was fine and back to pick up her habit. Touma likes all the girls, he would happily go out with any of them he doesn't care.
