I have no idea why Kyoani chose to adabt this. Not only is it bad, they don't even have any novels to sell. Their problem is probably not enough stuff to adapt, so they just had to move on to this. It would be easier to understand if there at least were some LNs to sell, but there's barely even that. My guess is that they make a lot of money from toys. Kyoani shows tend to be popular, so maybe they sell a lot of toys. If they only want to break even while they wait for the right time to make something good?

If I were a master writer and Japanese I'd write them some LNs myself so they'd get more options.
