>Kimishima (president of Nintendo) claims the expansion to smartphones and theme parks, but also to movies and TV animes (via character licensing) is progressing.
Are you ready for a Splatoon anime? Which Nintendo licence would make a good anime?
>I have no fucking idea what Splatoon is
>Smash Bros sol
It's like you want it to flop.
It's the freshest, hippest third-person shooter with big-hipped girls.
The saddest part is that Metroid could be one of their strongest franchises for story development if they handled it properly. Just make Samus into the competent bounty hunter that most people still view her as and send her on space adventures.
Really? You've never heard of the fresh new squid kid game?
squirting loads of thick hot paint all over each other
Okay, get this
A 4v4 arena fighter where you cover the most ground with your ink
and the characters are squidlolis
Of course, it was a huge success
tfw I bought splatoon because the Ika gear was added

>Show has a running gag where everytime Links or Zelda are going to talk they cut away to what other characters are doing and then right back to Link or Zelda when they are done talking.
You know Ai Kobayashi voiced her in Japan for Other M, might as well let her keep doing it.
She did the voice for the Death Records President in Detroit Metal City the MC in Appleseed .
a show about the tellius games would be incredible but that's just never happening

Good maybe then we can get a explanation to what happened to characters like Lyn or Guy in FF6
Oh yes I forgot that she did.

Maybe if you're new to anime.
3 Episodes for most games, with some single episodes about spin-offs here and there, would be good
Also the anime technically did Air Ride too
And a real Nightmare fight holy fuck I'm still mad
>It's like I'm in /v/
>actual pleasant discussion
Then you aren't on /v/ then
I will watch it if I get to see some squid pantsu.
I don't know man, most games seem like a 5 or 6 episode type deal. You don't want to cram everything and speed run them or it just ends up being something that's bound to flop. A simply system of 5 episode adaption and a sol episode in between would work.
Does anybody remembers when some ghost western company bought the rights for a Metroid movie and an Eternal Darkness TV show? It never went further than that and the rights expired years after with not even concept art surfacing on the internet.
I guess everything was a money laundering operation.
>SMT x FE more like Persona x Idolmaster
Fire Emblem, Zelda, Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenoblade Chronicles X, pretty much anything from the Xeno series.
A Super Smash anime could be good if we go by the Palutena reveal animu trailer.
But Zelda of XBX as top contender for me.
You can just feel Nintendo told them that they wanted persona on the WiiU but atlus held it off since its mostly a playstation series, so instead they had to make a Persona like game with SMTxFE
Not enough traction besides a meme
Rash is in Killer Instinct though and people are talking about other Rare IP characters showing up on KI
Get ready for Banjo & Kazoo
Well I like the setting. And the "twists".
But now thinking back, Xenoblade's world would be a much better fir for anime than X.
But X has giant mechs fighting against gigantic enemies. I can't decide.
who cares about them? I would kill to see an animated adaptation of
Hector's last stand against the dragon hordes
So FE If.. anime?
They made a manga, and fujos loved the game.
Or just make another Kirby anime for the fucks sake, those faggots still have the studio.
>Fire Emblem 9 anime
>It's a PG-13 Berserk rip-off
This shit writes itself
FE Fates is probably a shoe-in since it's an otakubait head-pat simulator, Zelda and Kid Icarus fall into similar territory
A Mario kids show will be inevitable, but something like Super Paper wouldn't be too bad
There hasn't been a mainline Persona game on a Nintendo console yet, anon
It is mostly a Playstation series
Q was probably on the 3DS because cheaper to make and wouldn't compete with P4G and DAN
>OVA episode about the wandering street fighter visiting the smash house

Unless they do some shit like 35 episodes, shit going be hard to compress in 12 or 24.
Yes, squeenix owns Gears, bameco owns Saga. And nintendo Blade series.
A Hyrule Warrior-like anime where the Zelda universe meets the Fire Emblem universe.
Nintendo lost most of their normalfag fans by now. Pretty much anyone buying Nintendo games now are hardcore Nintendo fans.

>animation studio is also in Kyoto
Man, they have all this attention to detail with Cloud, Ryu, Mega Man, and Bayonetta, but Fox, Samus, Diddy, Sheik, Link, they've all got the blandest stuff. I wish I could remake them all.
With how complicated the timeline is, it would either need a lot of episodes and explanations, or just cover some of the more memorable games, or go a third route altogether.
But that was my first though.
Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Mother, maybe a few others
You what studio has also already work with Nintendo?
>Zelda anime - Free style
>based on 4 swords except has every Link ever

A legend of zelda anime would be pretty simple. Just create another brach in the timeline for the anime and make completely anime original plots using the zelda characters and world. If they put some effort into I could see it being pretty amazing.
Best part is they can afford going anime original with the plot because the anime will probably survive on pure brand recognition and Link is pretty popular with fujoshits.

I don't know where you get these ideas from since obviously the people that talk about anime on /v/ come from /a/. Anime threads don't last long unless it's late. You get the same from cape comics and tv shows, and people talk about western cartoons just as much.
And you know /a/ has a lot of cancer from other sites too. There's too much overlap these days.
There's definitely some lewd
Kid Icarus is the only nintendo thing that really needs an anime because they aren't going to touch the series for another 10 years.
Anyone know what studio was behind this?
They seriously need to release that shit in HD, especially considering its impossible to get again on the 3DS anyways.
Same goes for the pikmin shorts outside of the Wii U.
What a cozy neighborhood to work in. Kyoto is such a beautiful city.
>HD bath scene never

The same SHAFT that changed /a/ forever.
>adaptation by Toei

Plot could be average and still be CG porn for the eyes.
>I don't know man, most games seem like a 5 or 6 episode type deal.
Each Super Star game would only be like half an episode, maybe a whole episode in total. Even though most Kirby games are 5/6 times longer, Nightmare in Dreamland is only like 7 hours of gameplay, 10 with the minigames. Most of them don't even have dialogue, so showing some story with some copy ability fanservice here and there isn't a problem for only one episode.
The overwhelming majority of /v/ermin don't browse other boards, just look at the statistics. The people who post about anime on /v/ are anime experts who have seen over 20 anime (not counting all their movies). Last time I posted on /v/ was a few months ago and I honestly just can not even begin to comprehend how it got so fucking bad. AND it was at night, when /v/ has historically been the most browseable.
>Golden Sun by J.C. Staff
Can they make Mia's daughter a meme
To be honest here, the only Nintendo game that I think would make a good anime is Fire Emblem.
Anything else would be in the enemy of the week format like Kirby or be too strange since most of the Nintendo games have silent protagonists.
>expansion to smartphones
No, handhelds >>>>> smartphones when it comes to gaming.
What they should do is open up their API. I'd love to develop for Nintendo but getting registered as a licensed Nintendo developer is such a pain.
That's SEGA anon but I'd love to see someone make a NiGHTs anime.
>I'd love to develop for Nintendo but getting registered as a licensed Nintendo developer is such a pain.
I wonder that's because of history for quality control from the NES era.
TLOZ. Not even kidding.
Popolocrois may be the closest thing to it that I can think of and it was pretty nice from what I can remember.
True, but most of the most of the casual market is on smartphones. And casuals = money. Theres a reason why the 3DS and Vita have less sales compared to the DS and PSP. Its because Smartphones popped up and is sufficient gaming for the casual gamer.
I know Nintendo is renowned for their actual high-profile games, but the Wii had some obscene shovelware (as did the NES, and made by Atlus at that). Why is it easy for literal garbage to get the N of approval but indie and AAA games are a no-go?
Star Furry would make a cool space anime IMO
Skies of Arcadia anime would be pretty cool.
I know, but when it comes to a fun experience having some buttons in addition to touch is nice.
If they would open up their development tools, there would be more diverse games and people might actually buy their console.
I'm not saying they should have an open app store like phones. Hell no, I don't want a zillion free low quality games with adds. They create a "everything must be free" culture and forces developers to put adds or an item store in the game.
Just their dev tools would be enough.
Maybe that's because of the indie scenario in Japan, which is pretty different from here.
I always thought it was weird how indie games there get recognition, and I don't think Nintendo see them in a good light.
I feel that they just don't do that because the heads from Nintendo Japan don't really understand how strong is the indie dev market right now in the west.
They are old-fashioned in a bad way I guess.
>adaptation by Toei
>no budget Toei
I don't like Toei. They can't make anything good with a reasonable budget. They burn money as if they heat themselves during winter by burning it.
Most probably because of the doujin games that Nintendo don't really want to risk experimenting with indie games too much.
They also have their family-friendly mindset, which turns off a lot of people too, be it devs or customers.
>They also have their family-friendly mindset
I hope they stop with that shit. They never really had such a strong family friendly image until they forced it with the Wii/DS.
They were always more on the core side, but not the edgy or grimdark side. They have even some of the most mature games in the industry.
And having those games won't make a dent on Nintendo's image. After all, they can just be played on the system and aren't really made by Nintendo or advertised by them. Being mostly indies, they won't even be in retail stores but mostly online. So putting them in the Japanese tag would prevent anyone who doesn't want them to see them.
Whether Nintendo wants it or not, they need an image make-over and a drastic change in their stand towards 3rd party.
Step up the fresh, onii-chan. Lame kids and squid like you are not welcome here.
I look forward to Nintendo ushering in a new age of shota anime
>They were always more on the core side, but not the edgy or grimdark side. They have even some of the most mature games in the industry.
That was only because back in the 80s and early 90s all video games were cool for kids, sans h games that only certain people knew about anyway. For as long as I've been alive (I had a first edition Brick but I'm not a wizard yet), Nintendo has always been for kids with exceptions.
damn anon, that's an obscure reference
First of all, kids doesn't mean not-core.
Second, they always had a wide range of games that would appeal to both kids and the somewhat more older audience.
Third, they always had family friend games, but never focused on that image so hard as they are doing it since the Wii/DS.
I kinda of disagree about their image, Nintendo always had the idea of being family friend since the start, considering that their first console is called Family Computer and SNES had a more toy-like design.
Now about their decision nowadays, I wish that they would abandon their kid friendly style too, or at least make the effort to attract the core players and casual alike, even if that meant making 2 different consoles.
I'd rather a crossover anime between Kid Icarus and Bayonetta
featuring Dante from the Devil may Cry series.
Nintendo can piss off some fans, but at least they know that there's limits.
Konami's just fucked. Castlevania, Metal Gear, Silent Hill, almost all of their franchises are fucked, and even SNK realizes they can't stay in pachinko forever. They're not going to make it.
>Third, they always had family friend games, but never focused on that image so hard as they are doing it since the Wii/DS.
The SNES was literally sold as a kids toy in Sears magazine

>considering that their first console is called Family Computer and SNES had a more toy-like design.
If I recall correctly, Yamauchi gave an interview or something about that. They did that because the video game industry just collapsed in the US. They wanted to distance themselves from it as far as possible so that people don't consider it the same. The NES was even named an entertainment system just so that it's not a video game system even thought it did nothing besides playing games.
Their family image came from having games that were simple but also had enough depth, so that it could be easily played by the kids and by the parents without anyone feeling that it's not a game for them.
Think back about SMB3. The first levels are ridiculously easy. But what about the later one? Kids will lose attention after a while and just go do something else, but the older siblings or parents will play the later levels.
Zelda is in no way a kids game. Especially not the first few that had literally no hand holding.
Neither is Metroid. Or most 3rd party they had at that time.
Now Nintendo thinks family friendly means every game needs to be played by the whole family at the same time.
>implying it's not going to be cheap 3D
Is Harlock considered a big flop? Wikipedia has it making only 2/3 of its budget (less than 1/6th in Japan), but that info is 2 years old.
I want to compare it to Expelled from Paradise (which is also Toei, has similar space elements, but a non-realism style), except I can't find a budget/profit listed anywhere. It probably beat Harlock in profit, but I assume it had a much smaller budget, too. The CG was always distracting to me.
I gotta say though, Christmas shopping for my little cousins and their PS4 was really hard.
Had to get them Rayman Legends, since it was the only game that I could find with co-op and wasn't super edgy.
Man, it feels like I should be the one with the PS4 and they should be the ones with the Wii U.
>But what about the later one? Kids will lose attention after a while and just go do something else, but the older siblings or parents will play the later levels.
Now that you said it, I remember something about they taking some distance in design because of the videogame crash.
But the level design in SMB3 has absolutely nothing to do about age demography. Games back then were made to last longer and have high replayability, since people didn't buy games so often like today. Kids would play and beat a game over and over, share tips and tricks and stuff for months.

What's the deal with Nintendo and anime, anyways?
How the hell are there Zelda and Super Mario American cartoons but no Japanese anime?
I know how the games were made back then.
But in an interview (I think it was Iwata Asks) some of the developer said that they did take into consideration demographics when they made games.
They made them a lot easier at the start for everyone to enjoy them, but the games would get a huge bump in difficulty later on because of the more skilled people.
Comparing World 7 and 8 to most modern games and they are simply much harder. Yet compare Wold 1 to most modern games and it's easier.
Miyamoto is, honestly speaking, insane for how many things he takes into consideration when making games. At least back in the days. Just the way he designed level 1-1.
>A Hyrule Warrior-like anime
Only if the best girl appear.
Oh, there's actually a Super Mario anime, and it ends with Mario being NTRed by some flower prince faggot.
I just see that as a natural thing.
If you have a lot of obstacles and such in your game, you have to present the mechanics first, test them in various situations while making them harder gradually till you make the real test, just like if you write a story you would have to present its points and develop them so the plot goes on till its climax.
