So where do they come from?
Speaking of Sachiel, does anyone know where I can find high-res photos of the original frames? Like, where the cels have already been placed on the background? Normally this wouldn't matter, but Anno raped the colors of the blu-rays and I want to fix it.
Sephirotic's encodes are shit
The suggestion's they're just kinda scattered as embryos and come as they hatch. Not really clarified if they're only as old as Second Impact or if that woke up things buried in the First.
I believe the PS2 game Neon Genesis Evangelion 2 explains most of this. The game is only in japanese, but you an read all the Classifed Information from the game right here
It hasn't really been confirmed canon though, but Anno was involved with the prodution of the game at least
I've seen people cite this as a source before, but never actually got a link to it.
Most of the folks that do cite it, seem to believe that it's canonical and credible information. Thanks for giving me a link to it, looks like an interesting read!
If I recall correctly they are the human equivalent of Adam's seed. The first "god" to come to Earth was Adam, who got wrecked when Lilith (the humans' progenitor) came too, along with the first impact. Basically, humans are Lilith's offspring, and angels are Adam's. Usually each planet is colonized by one of these "gods", the Earth is an exceptions, so the Angels want to awaken Adam and get rid of the filthy humans.
I understand the conflict between Adam and Lilith, but why did they come into conflict at all? Are the born [built/created?] to hate the other? Did they actually fight at all? Are the lances weapons, tools or both?
I actually like the Rebuilds. As someone that's quite new to Evangelion, I don't have the association and nostalgia goggles of "the days when anime was better!"
Instead, I see the original and rebuilds as separate stories. Though I'm intrigued by the idea of the sequel theory.
It's the opposite, there's only one thing that makes the movies sequels while everything else looks like an alternative universe. But the FAR theory still makes more sense in the Rebuild universe. Remember the scene where Gendo shuts down the monoliths that are basically FAR souls reborn in humans.
There is no conflict between Adam and Eve. The black moon crash landed on earth, so Adam shut itself down to not harm humans. But they wanted ascendancy so they woke him up. Which is why the angels want to return to him, and Nerv users that to fuse angels with Eve.
Humans and angels were not supposed to ever coexist in the same planet. Since humans (because of Lilith) "took" the Earth from angels and Adam reverted to an embryonic-like status, the ones who survived set out to awaken Adam and take back the planet.
I honestly don't remember what the lances were for, I think all god-like beings have one, and Adam's one was destroyed IIRC.
Yeah my bad. It's also the reason why Adam is the one who was shut down: the lances have the power to "shut down" either Adam or Lilith, and since Lilith's spear was destroyed, Adam's one was activated and put its owner to sleep.
The lances are the shutoff devices for the seeds. Angels meant to terraform planets for humans who inherit the souls of FARturtles, so their race can live on. It's kinda like the Xel'naga.
>It is a spear which has a will and is a type of lifeform capable of moving by itself. This is an item close to a god and thus able to put a Seed of Life (Progenitor Entity), who holds the power of eternal life, into suspended animation, and this is the reason why the Seed of Life (Progenitor Entity) does not reach god-status. The First Ancestral Race prepared this as a counter- measure in the event that a Seed of Life (Progenitor Entity) did not follow their own goals.
Whats the game where all the NGE lore came from, what is it called?
Science and proportionate eye size say Sahaquiel.
I want one of the huggable Zeruel things.
Ramiel is sexy, there's a difference.
It's just in their biology that there should be only one of their species per planet. Adam solved this by shutting down until the spear was fucked with then the process of populating the planet started up again so one had to go
It makes more sense if you view it like an ecosystems natural response to an intruder: just get rid of it
>acting on instinct
It's sort of unclear. It has something to do with their souls/fruit of life but it's never expanded upon in depth.
>why did they wake up
They all matured at roughly the same time so it can be assumed that they were born or had their eggs planted or whatever around the same time and they all age at the same rate much like humans. It's possible that the Angels are all children or around the same age as the Eva pilots in Angel years.
Here anon, have an actually readable version of that pic.
Mostly? They're drawn to Tokyo 3 except Gaghiel, who hangs out in the ocean until Adam is carried right past him, and Sandalphon, who doesn't get the chance, but then there are some that couldn't have reached Lilith themselves, or target the Evas specifically, or show more interest in the Children.
Lilith was the First Impact, Adam reawakening was the Second. Depending on the continuity (TV vs Rebuild) either Shinji with the fruits is Third or Shinji vs Zeruel is Near-Third.
At this point, I think I may just watch the series again. Rewatching it, after having read your comments and some of the stuff that was linked to me, I think I might have a better grasp on things.
Anno may not have originally planned the show to have this much "depth", but it's interesting to me nonetheless.
I think it's alright to like them. I also like them while liking the others.
I like Ireul because it offers a different method of attack. That and in the episode, it offered more focus on the other characters and how they tried to tackle the problem. But yeah.
the BD colors are intended to look like thy series always looked on tv and home video, if you want to "fix it" you can go ahead and look for the collector discs, but I dont understand the reasoning behind a recolour based on some stills that show a colouring completely off with any home video release, and based the archives box set, not even on tv broadcast.
Most of the rest is tons of character art and keyframes + concepts
They redid a bunch of animation, added the cello scenes, added some new different scenes, had minor plot dump, and had the best credit sequence of anything ever. Not to mention that Rebirth is superiour in quality to episode 25'
tl;dr you're an idiot.
Based. Thank you very much friend.
Not a problem anon, just sharing the love.
anyoen owns one of these bad guys?
assembling its skeleton and fitting it into its skin was a bitch for my 14 year old self, but actually fun and it looks great.
I haven't picked up any of the kits yet, but I plan on it eventually. I quite like the variety of quality merch.
no, they're beings blessed with the fruit of life (Adams clones or w/e) and since the two eggs are the sources of these lifeforms (humans being blessed with the fruit of knowledge) and they both existed on the same planet which wasnt supposed to happen since the two beings cannot be on the same world without obliterating eachother. angels would take the place of humans and all of that. the reason they attack and all of that is because of survival instincts, if they trigger the third impact everybody would be replaced as beings blessed with the fruit of life.
i might be wrong on some aspects i dont remember precisely what they said in the show.
Here's a pic from the side of the box that shows how the skeleton looks. It's fairly complicated and highly mobile. The skin is made of rubber.
I also just remembered I never painted the Kensuke and Hikari figurines, I should before I get old and my pulse goes to shit.
My ass knows more than you fag. The angels wanted to go back to Adam and leave knowledge lifeforms alone. Gendo tricked them with Lilith. I'm pretty sure you didn't even watch the series.
How the fuk are the Angels suppose to coexist with each other if they had eliminated all humans?
Angels are not supposed to coexist with Lilins. Old extraterrestrials separated Lilith from Adam that they never be combined in one person because these beings could be as strong as these ET's
if im not retarded (probably am here) they were dying out and they sent seeds of life everywhere or some shit, they made it so 2 of the same seeds of life would containing the fruit of life and the fruit of knowledge would never supposed to land simultaneously on one planet which happened by mistake on earth and thus creating the conflict. srsly tell me whats wrong if you know since i'd rather know whats right than spout shit here.
My understanding is that they're each an independent life form, but collectively form one species. I imagine they could live together quite easily. However, what they would do and whether or not they would form societies or procreate is entirely beyond my ability to speculate.
I think that's pretty correct, also the Lances were sort of a contingency plan for exactly what happened on Earth, but somehow one of them got damaged before it could act and destroy one of the Angels.
That's right. But the angels are meant to terraform barren rocks. Angels and normal life can't coexist since angel poop is toxic to normal life. Humans can also inherit the souls of the FAR people that are stored in the chamber of Guf. So angels are not even a legit lifeform, why would they have their own planets? They create more planets where the reborn FAR can live.
Angels a shit
Eva Series is best
No, you idiot.
It's explained in >>136157398
The seeds of life and seeds of knowledge were scientific experiments to see what happened.
This is explained flat out in the games that Gainax made following the series.
There is literally nothing about terraforming.
Because the MPs are plot devices and regen is effectively literal plot armor. She did technically beat them, even within the timelimit, it's just the reanimation was warranted by the plot.
I'm not sure, but I know how ZR works.
Reading that made me think that they really should do a book(ando not another manga) about the backstory of Evangelion
The Angels seem like solitary creatures and the concept of socialization appears wholly alien to them. Rei and Kaworu kind of get it since they've lived with humans, but Leliel, Armisael and Arael are baffled by the idea.
>mfw somebody wrote this out seriously thought that somebody would read all this shit to understand this shit show lore.
Because she was an idiot and didn't try to puncture the core on any of them until the very last.
Ramiel's been humanized in Campus Apocalypse and the Divine Gate crossover, and both times they drew it as a male.
I wish it had gotten an Angel XX figure. Probably would have been a PS1 polygonal blue Rei.
Except cores can be risky business, see Zeruel's shuttering and the resilience of Shamshel's. Additionally, Asuka wasn't aware of the regen properties. Keep in mind she operated on a strict time limit.
They don't actually regenerate, but they're incorrectly drawn that way in a few cuts. I don't have the cap handy, but that one Asuka cut in half is running around with its upper and lower body separated
Angels are not an intelligent lifeform so they don't have plans just basic instructions. They probably don't know they are terraforming the planet for the creatures they kill in the process.
Found this the other day when I was researching Metabolist architecture in post-war Japan. Looks like Anno took the idea of a giant octohedron looming over Tokyo from the architect Kiyonori Kikutake's concept for a future urbanism.
And I thought this would never be relevant.
That is one hell of a collection anon
What do you suppose is going on with these four assholes? They aren't numbered like the other Angels. I'm thinking either there was one original Adam who somehow split into four lesser beings like the giant Albion, or maybe they're from a different Angel-seeded world and came here on the Wunder.
I'm not sure if it's really relevant, but it's interesting that they all have a different symbol on them
I believe it's a reference to the Ultra Brothers, but it is interesting. And the core for the three-eyed Adam is obscured or absent in both versions.
It's also interesting that the Evas built off of them (01, 06, 13) just sit around like lifeless husks unless Shinji or Kaworu are in them. Eva 13 even loses its awakened form when Shinji is ejected.
They probably aren't the FAR since they have to eat Rei/Lilith + an Angel to unlock their godly power, but they could be a race of their own. The Vessel really muddies things up.
They probably aren't FAR since FAR dying out was the whole reason they seeded other life to begin with.
how do you guys like my Lilith keychain?
I wish I had Sachiel from the same collection
