Episode looks a little too normal in the second pic, isn't he meant to look like he's perpetually glaring? The way he looks there just doesn't really fit the description as well as the first.
Kizumonogatari just got sent to me in the post, very impressed with the presentation Vertical has giving it, has anyone received theirs yet? Took Amazon a good month but I finally got one.
I picked it up release day at barnes and noble

I doubt my local Waterstones would carry something like Kizu since it's a pretty niche item and they've downsized a lot of their anime and manga section compared to how it was a decade ago.
I'd assume in exchange we'll get both Dramaturgie and Episode's fights in the next movie + maybe the lead up to Guillotinecutter, then in the third it'll be the rest of his fight then
Seems like a decent portioning, though really, it would've been a way better idea to split Kizu into just two movies, that way everything would be way less drawn out.
I really love vofans illustration. Looks better than the zaregoto translations from Del-rey, well maybe because I bought a really shitty used version.
But I also like takes illustration a lot.
I've flipped through it but not obviously read it yet but it seems like they've done a really good job on making the prose stand out and not feel like a Murakami clone. Something which I find happens a lot with modern Japanese novels, where they all sound like his novels and don't really have their own volume.
The illustrations are pretty great too, looking forward to seeing the rest of the series getting translated if Vertical actually do it.

Good taste in poetry.
All shows in LA are sold out already, took a few hours for first showing to sell out and 2 days for the other two to sell out.
Friends were too slow so now I'm the only one with a ticket.... Guess I'm seeing it alone.
I might as well just fucking kill myself, this is beyond suffering ;_;....
It was easier to "wait" when we didn't have a release date or even knew if it was ever gonna be made, but now that I know it's out, and I know I have no way to watch it until it comes out online..... Just kill me
Why do you have no options to watch it?
It's even aired here in Germany, to my surprise.
Well anyways in the end the screening will probably be full of sweaty weebs ruining the whole thing. So you probably will be best of watching it in comfort at home.
Nothing here in Denmark :( Well, I guess I could travel to Germany, but even then, that would probably be with German subs..... which while I can read a bit, isn't really my strong suit :/
You guys got it good. I was expecting Canuckland to have it on sale at the local Chapters/Indigo store, but it's apparently online only, and it got sold out in 2 days after release. I tried checking other stores, but apparently Vertical is "temporaily out of stock" on kizu.
Now some faggots are trying to resell their copies for outrageous prices for a mere book. I'm really hoping for a rerun soon.
Yeah it's with German subs. If you don't have any other business here it's really not worth it for a one hour movie. Would atleast wait for a screening of the full movie, all three parts.
shit m8, they still have tons of copies at my local stores. if you provided me your address and sent the equivalent of the price of the book and shipping, I wouldn't mind buying it and sending one your way.
That's kind of you, but I'm willing to wait it out since I already booked a special order for it from my local store. God knows when it will come, but it's too late to turn it down anyway.
Just curious, but where is your local store for it to have so many copies?
what you do is go to their website and find the book page. then you click the button under the buy button and search for in store locations.
it will list all of the stores near you and if they have them in stock or not. if they have them in stock, you can reserve it online. Doing this will notify the people working at that store and they will go grab a copy of it and bring it to the front desk where you buy your shit. Then all you gotta do is go to that store and let the cashiers know you reserved a book and the name of it and they will ring it and and then you buy it. Way easier than trying to find it while you're at the store.
Just getting around to watching this for the first time and HOLY SHIT I AM LAUGHING MY ASS OFF.
I haven't had an anime disorient me in such an unexpected manner in a long ass time; I have found myself saying out loud "What the actual FUCK am I watching?" for the first time since... like Urotsukidoji when I was 15.
I am blown away that something could evoke such a response from me again. Is this even anime? Mostly not, probably, but holy fuck if I don't enjoy it.
watching bakemonogatari for the first time is disorienting.
it all becomes clear once you finish a few seasons.
Once you get a grasp of the format of the series, you will understand the rest and crave more.
also it's a good idea to go back and rewatch bakemonogatari once you get up to the most current release.
My theory of why introductions to the series through the anime is so confusing at first is because it starts AFTER kizu. You are kinda just plopped into a world where stuff is happening with no explanation of what in the world is happening and why. I believe a better introduction (since we now have an english release) to the series honestly would be to read kizumonogatari and then start watching bakemonogatari.
Even after all 3 parts of the movie are released, I would still suggest reading the book first because of all the little details that you would miss in the movie which are the quick frame stills of text directly from the book.
After the movie is fully released, I would say the best way to start getting into the series would be
->read the kizumonogatari novel
->watch all 3 parts of the movie
->start watching bakemonogatari
->continue watching the series in release order
->if more is desired, read the other books if translated or not if you can read moonrunes
ah I'm self taught so sucks to be you, have fun at least.
Anyone know how fan service heavy is this? I don't really like watching near porn around me and I'm taking a person who doesn't watch anime with me.
For the japanbros who saw the movie already, did turgy wield his wavy swords like in pic related? holding each one by a hilt in his hands?
There's been some images of turgy from the movie just transforming his arms into the blades themselves like what is described in the 1v1 fight vs araragi. I hope the animators didn't overlook this small thing.. otherwise I'll just nitpick it to death.
So if your state didn't get added yet, you're basically fucked, right? Or should I still have some small sliver of hope left?
you still got over a month for something to change.
if you want to take matters into your own hands, you should call up your local theaters and see if you can get them to screen it.
if that fails, make a petition and get anybody near you to sign it.
I've literally gone to an independent film screening at a local theater that shows mainstream movies and there were only 3 other people in the entire theater.
the amount of people who go to the actual movie doesn't matter to local theaters, they just want somebody at least to show up.
>watching shitty hdcam-quality ripped anime
>tickets are sold out
>they've been sold out for ages

I don't know honestly. I enjoyed bakemonogatari from the first episode, but I don't know if I would spend this much time on a series I don't enjoy.
I think the Anime does a good job of introducing the characters and the overall story and theme. If you disliked bake, I don't get how knowing everything would change that. Sure I'd say nisios stories are always very though out and rereading them is always fun because of all these little details that connect to a bigger picture, but if you dislike it, you probably just don't like his style and that probably won't change.
oh fuck.. san diego saturday showing is sold out..
you fuckers better not make this experience terrible for the rest of us normalfags that just want to enjoy the movie.
if any of you fuckers clap more than is necessary or shout memes during the movie I swear to god I'm gonna find you and kick your fucking /a/utistic ass.
E row here, anybody in E, F, or D row please take a shower the night before or day of the movie. I don't want to be exposed to unwashed filth.
