I've flipped through it but not obviously read it yet but it seems like they've done a really good job on making the prose stand out and not feel like a Murakami clone. Something which I find happens a lot with modern Japanese novels, where they all sound like his novels and don't really have their own volume.

The illustrations are pretty great too, looking forward to seeing the rest of the series getting translated if Vertical actually do it.

what you do is go to their website and find the book page. then you click the button under the buy button and search for in store locations.

it will list all of the stores near you and if they have them in stock or not. if they have them in stock, you can reserve it online. Doing this will notify the people working at that store and they will go grab a copy of it and bring it to the front desk where you buy your shit. Then all you gotta do is go to that store and let the cashiers know you reserved a book and the name of it and they will ring it and and then you buy it. Way easier than trying to find it while you're at the store.

also it's a good idea to go back and rewatch bakemonogatari once you get up to the most current release.

My theory of why introductions to the series through the anime is so confusing at first is because it starts AFTER kizu. You are kinda just plopped into a world where stuff is happening with no explanation of what in the world is happening and why. I believe a better introduction (since we now have an english release) to the series honestly would be to read kizumonogatari and then start watching bakemonogatari.

Even after all 3 parts of the movie are released, I would still suggest reading the book first because of all the little details that you would miss in the movie which are the quick frame stills of text directly from the book.

After the movie is fully released, I would say the best way to start getting into the series would be
->read the kizumonogatari novel
->watch all 3 parts of the movie
->start watching bakemonogatari
->continue watching the series in release order
->if more is desired, read the other books if translated or not if you can read moonrunes

I don't know honestly. I enjoyed bakemonogatari from the first episode, but I don't know if I would spend this much time on a series I don't enjoy.
I think the Anime does a good job of introducing the characters and the overall story and theme. If you disliked bake, I don't get how knowing everything would change that. Sure I'd say nisios stories are always very though out and rereading them is always fun because of all these little details that connect to a bigger picture, but if you dislike it, you probably just don't like his style and that probably won't change.
