Overall was excited as it looks like they are going to have humans fight human like creatures instead of bug creatures. Also they have 3 months and probably a 1/3 of the episode missing, last time they did a preview they cut out Sheryl from the preview.

Just about every girl in Macross is masgical, save for maybe Minmay.

Basara, Mylene, and the rest of Fire Bomber were Anima Spiritia and had magical abilities to rejuvenate life force.

Sara Nome had special blood that allowed her to interact with the Protoculture bird mecha.

Ranka was magic through fold waves and could speak to the Vajra that way. Same with Sheryl after she got the Varjra disease.

The only difference now is that they're weaponising idols fully, rather than having them in the background, on a stage and singing away. It makes sense that they're directing their attacks in a more tangible way. I'd personally have prefered for them to stay in their Valkyries, but I don't care, going techno mahou shoujo makes sense.

What, with Protoculture being a power source in Robotech and the last Robotech story involved another alien race invading Earth and winning, and the humans returning with the Shadow technology from a different alien race and then getting backstabbed.
