>haven't seen anything since that got me as hyped as this trash
anime was a mistake
Does /a/ hate NGNL because it is popular or is it because it is fun? No one could actually dislike it unironically, right?
I was there when it aired and the hate for it was 99% IRC shitposting. I never once saw any kind of legitimate criticism, just things like "too much fanservice", "colours too bright", and "it's shit." Eventually people became convinced that "/a/" didn't like it and hiveminded themselves into following suit.
>I never once saw any kind of legitimate criticism
.... only if you blatantly ignore people's complaints. It was gut wrenchingly awful. It made no goddamned fucking sense.
Two kids from Earth are so good at games they can defeat magic ..... FUCKING MAGIC. I can think of dozens of ways magic can be used to destroy a person's ability to win and the author can't? Because durrrrr, they're just that good?
How about they alter cards at the molecular level to be exactly what they need?
See through them?
Teleport them to where they choose exactly what they want on the next draw?
Alter the weight of dice to always land on 6s? or 1s?
Turn themselves invisible?
The fight with the winged chick proved that magic can completely alter reality and they were explicitly told that magic can be used whenever and wherever they want so long as you're not caught cheating. How pray tell would you catch your opponent teleporting every ace into his own hand and every 3 into yours?
I really loved how they challenge the MC to battles that don't depend on chance as if magic users are so incompetent and stupid that an entire planet of them cannot think for 5 seconds how doing so would be a bad idea. Nope, let's challenge them to chess, instead of a coin toss where I literally cannot lose. Awesome!
It is such bad garbage writing where the author created a system that he cannot defend logically so he declares creatures to be brilliant and amazing but can't let them actually think long enough to come up with a plan that is literally foolproof.
And you defend that shit? We need to hold writers to a higher standard, stop buying drivel and garbage, and let them know we won't put up with their shit. Instead people like you eat it up, refuse to accept blatant mind numbing flaws, and lower the quality of entertainment for everyone by encouraging more of this godawful shit to be produced.
>can defeat magic ..... FUCKING MAGIC
Did you actually watch the show, you fucking moron? The are rule and parameters within the games that stop people just getting blasted by lazers and losing immediately. Just fuck off.
If you can't take one look at the horrible filters and know it is shit without even watching it you are probably tasteless to begin with. That said it is probably no more shit than things like Fate or Steins;Gate or Railgun shit that tons of people on /a/ love.
They can't just win with magic cheating because they'll be caught, you fucking moron. Also, you really don't seem to understand how anime works. Bad writing can be forgiven if the setting is lighthearted and fun enough to make up for it, which the show was. The real shitshows are things like Code Geass that also pull retarded shit but try to actually base significant drama off of it.
The shogi bit was golden though.
I love this anime soo much it hurts. The plots was amazing. The animation was amazing. The characters were amazing. Jibril was amazing. The fights were amazing. The way they beat the little animal girl was amazing.
I sell NGNL street art. I make pretty good money doing it as well. I usually post up outside old folks home or wallmart. Wallmart a kinda tricky because you can make up to $1200 or just $120 but at the old folks home I usually take a consistent $450. GIRUAGEMESH!!!!!
I think it's amazing but I wish they out a little bit more fanservace in it. I feel like that's all that missing but other than that 9.8/10 great show. I own three copies of the anime in packs. That's three DVDs and three
If you'd watched the show you'd know that's why the MCs bluffed as if they had another country backing them, they straight up said they can't win against magic so they acted like they had backing so that Clammy wouldn't use really obvious magic at the very least.
>overpower never lose MC
Fuck you niggers, people were giving a million reasons why the show was shit. If you honestly thought a wishfulliment haremshit anime where the protagonists will never lose and only win through ridiculous asspulls was a good premise you have worst shit taste than I thought. Also all the Steph bullying was unnecessary bullshit since she was the best girl.
I just don't get how people can like a show like TTGL and hate NGNL for the exact same reasons. If you are complaining that the MCs are overpowered and use plot hax to win, you are missing the point. Just drop it, don't whine about it because it doesn't tickle your autism.
This is why I left the IRC, because you fuckers BULLSHIT a reason to HATE every damn show that comes out.
You see one thing you don't like, *claps hands* welp its shit! Your taste is fucking garbage as fucking shit man, just pure fucking trash. This show was an enjoyable ride that had a ew hiccups but it was in no way, shape or form "shit".
BR pls go.
Not liking the characters is a legitimate complaint to be fair, you aren't forced to stick with something just because you don't think it's to your tastes, I did the same for KLK, if you made me sit through the whole thing I doubt my opinion would have changed.
They not. They clearly divergent on many points the same way it could divergent if two people draw picture of one model.
>Not liking the characters is a legitimate complaint
No it is not you fucking retard, just because you're not mature enough to get passed a damn personality, it makes your whole opinion of the show moot and devoid of value since you just can't get passed someone's personality.
Like in real life hating your boss and then deciding to quit because his personality is too much for you. Not his fault you don't like him.
It's not the same as not liking your boss, it's the same as thinking one of your friends is an asshole and not wanting to stay friends with him, which you have full rights to do. That anon simply claimed he didn't like the characters, which much like if he said he didn't like fantasy genres, or that he was looking for a show with action instead, is fully his right. You're allowed to drop shows you don't enjoy.
Listen friendo I gave it the three episodes. I didn't like it then and I didn't like it three episodes later. So I just moved on.
Don't get your panites all bunched up.
Still accurate for >>136106398
TTGL is literally a kids show. NGNL is otaku pandering shit. I'm not saying that otaku are great or anything, but at least they (usually) don't watch shows for children.
So top fucking kek, you're ironically the biggest manchild for defending TTGL.
He never said like the SHOW because of the characters. There's more to a damn show than the characters and if you hate every last character, you really need to take a good look at yourself and see that you're no perfect fucking jackass. Bitching over every little thing is what you fuckers do to bullshit reasons why you hate something.
One "tiny" detail makes the whole show shit, that's the problem here. Mental retardation and people with "quality taste" so far up their asses. They probably think Evangelion was the greatest thing they ever seen.
I don't know if it's stated, but it likely falls under the "obvious" magic, probably leaves traces of magic on the cards or whatever and you could then point at it and say "you have clearly teleported the ace into your hand, it has magic aura on it" or however the hell it works, the implication is there but since Imanity can't see magic and Clammy assumes they have ways to see it and abstains from using it, it's not brought up.
>not giving side characters any chance because boohoo main characters, I hate them all for their personalities
>not giving the story any chance because boohoo I hate the main characters personalities
>otaku don't watch shows for children
Okay Mr. Adult continue to enjoy your sophisticated anime for mature people such as yourself
Characters are a pretty big part of a show anon, especially in a show like NGNL, it's not like it's got some big important plot, a lot of it is having fun watching the characters screw around, and if you don't like it and decide the show's not for you, then I can't fault you for it.
He didn't specify main characters anon, you would usually assume this means he doesn't like any of them, especially since people will often claim they are watching a show "only for X", if you don't find a reason to watch it find something better to do, it's what the 3 episode rule is for
That pic doesn't really help your argument.
I'd be honest, I enjoyed it.
Watching OP MC wrecking people shit is probably fun and entertaining, depending on the take.
That doesn't mean it's good, hell I'd say it's bad if it depends on things like that to sell.
When did people start thinking their taste was so great in anime and manga that they could call series shit?
That's what really got me, have you read and watched so much of the stuff that you're now a fucking guru for it? Nah, you're just a lonely little bitch who thinks his taste is above someone else's and then feels the need to share that taste with others.
The thing about /a/ is, its a legit case of "follow the main opinion".
Since we're all anonymous, whichever side has the most shills saying the same thing makes everyone else HAVE to agree. NGNL wasn't a bad show so far as you actually let you "oh so great" taste go and enjoy it for what it was. People take fucking japanese cartoons way too fucking seriously.
Chill the fuck out and enjoy the fucking show, open your mind.
>people not knowing how bluffing in games works
This is why these types of people would fail in real poker matches. They have no idea how to bluff. They literally bluff through half their matches in convincing the enemy that they'll see through their cheats which makes them not use such cheats. It's a pretty effective tactic if you know how to pull it off.
>Claiming you need to have seen every anime out there to know a series is shit is another.
I never said you needed to see every anime out there though, so your point is pretty dead.
>When did people start thinking their taste was so great in anime and manga that they could call series shit?
On this site? Never.
Pick one, there's people in this thread who hate anime genre's like slice of life but still goes and watches them for what reason god knows what to complain.
Many anime fans are like Tumblr Bloggers, they bitch, cry and moan over everything they hate. Their opinion is retarded and they feel the need to share it with everyone online as if we give a fuck.
Keep your opinion to yourself if you fucking hated the show, us knowing won't do jackshit. Only those who are insecure think their taste is that magnificent they can call shows shit from the get-go.
>Keep your opinion to yourself if you fucking hated the show, us knowing won't do jackshit
Fuck you, don't tell me what to do.
I can say whatever I want to say, and if I want to say it's shit, it's shit. If you don't agree simply fuck off or hide my post, retard.
>Again, taste =! opinion
There you go jumping to conclusions again, people who have legit criticism of the show is acceptable. Those who are retarded isn't, get what I'm saying before you start sperging on your typewriter kid.
>Fuck you, don't tell me what to do
>I can say whatever I want to say, and if I want to say it's shit, it's shit. If you don't agree simply fuck off or hide my post, retard.
Yes because you're a strong independent white woman making her life what she wants right?
Yeah I think this is better for you
Critcism and opinions based on nothing but "wahhhh I hate it"
Isn't the same thing, you're trying to mix meanings of my words to fit your retarded notion. I'm saying everyone who dislikes it can't talk about it.
I'm saying those who have criticism and has a legit reason why they dislike it is fine, those who just cry about the show like bitches and just sperg hate is tumblr, reddit, retard, whichever you prefer.
>Hating stupid wish fullfillment fantasies makes you a hipster
Yeah I bet SAO was a good show and we only hate it because its popular
>. I'm saying everyone who dislikes it can't talk about it.
And therin lies the problem, I like the show, but people who dislike the show have just as much of a right to an opinion as you do dumbass
I sentence structure was off so I'll let you have that one. What I was claiming is you're making it seem like I'm saying
>I'm saying everyone who dislikes it can't talk about it.
When I'm not, I'm saying
>I'm saying those who have criticism and has a legit reason why they dislike it is fine, those who just cry about the show like bitches and just sperg hate is tumblr, reddit, retard, whichever you prefer.
There's no remedy for acting like a bitch over a series you hate to others who generally really don't give a shit, it makes the person look childish and just autistic. Like people who sperg hate on naruto, the criticism on why people hate it is ok thus their comments have value, those who just rage whenever a picture of his face is in a thread isn't.
You're not actually trying to pass that off as sentence structure are you? You've very clearly been saying this entire time that unless someone has empirical evidence for why they don't like the show they aren't allowed to speak,
Realistically if we used your logic of "no one cares if you didn't like the show" we'd barely talk about shows anyways because no one cares if you liked the show either, you thought a joke was funny? No one cares. You think a girl is hot? No one cares. You think the show is fun? No one cares. The logic can be applied to anything, fuck off or admit you just want to filter out anyone who dares say anything bad about a show you like without 3 pages of sources backing up their claims.
>You've very clearly been saying this entire time that unless someone has empirical evidence for why they don't like the show they aren't allowed to speak,
If you have a REASON to hate the show, and actually post that and then follow up with your opinions on why you didnt like said show. Its acceptable.
Stop trying to beat around the bush, simply yelling "Oh well this shows bad, NEXT" or some other shit in relation to that makes your whole stance on the show pointless and moot.
That's why I call people like that tumblr, you're not saying anything logical. "I hate the show, because fuck you" isn't a fucking reason. You're just a bitch if you're doing that.
Oh, so you ARE new.
Well, just get used to this place if you're planning to stay.
NGNL is a special case of being both casual/newfag bait and otaku-bait at the same time, which is why it was popular (similar to SAO). However, as someone that's been into anime for a while, in my eyes the show didn't really do anything that hasn't been done much better. None of the characters were even particularly like-able or even felt like a characters at all besides Steph. Aside from her, both the characters and the relationships all they all shared felt as shallow as the kid's side of the swimming pool.
I could go on further, but it's a pain in the ass. Not more than suffering through this show however.
>People aren't allowed to form their own opinions and criticize things
I agree that /a/ is terrible, and criticizes things only because they are popular, but people like you are just as bad. You assume that because you enjoy a thing in a certain way, everyone should and is able too.
Some people like to judge how good things are. That is part of the enjoyment for us. I like thinking about the quality of the animation and the dialogue. You sound like the type of person who thinks you should "stop thinking and watch it". Not everyone wants to do that.
We take Japanese cartoons "way to seriously" because we are on a fucking image board about Japanese cartoons. What else are we suppose to talk about? Are we just suppose to share our waifus and have every thread about a show be "oh it was okay" and having nothing else to say about it? It's more interesting to actually critically talk about shows, and the only way to do that is if we watch them with a critical lens. Just because someone says that something isn't good doesn't mean they didn't enjoy it. It's fun to go into a series no knowing if it'll be good or bad.
You sound like a conceited asshole who is personally insulted because someone said something negative about a show you liked, and instead of actually being able to form any sort of rebuttal about the strong points of the show (because to do that you would need to think about the show while watching it), you made this bullshit post.
if you hate it here so much maybe you should leave? No one will care. You'd probably fit in better in a mindless echo box like MAL or Reddit.
Also, for the record, I enjoyed NGNL.
Sure, the brazilian traced and got caught multiple times and it's a legitimate criticism against the work self, but it really doesn't matter when you're just watching it/evaluating it without caring who made it and how.
It's Kaiji but it panders to NEETs instead of decrying them, with shit MCs, shit GAMBURUs (excuding the Shiritori episode) and shitty asspulls (THE CHESSPIECES HAVE FEELINGS). It's forgettable garbage with a memorable artstyle and nothing more.
>giving a fuck about what retarded /a/ drones think
you are the problem here, anon.
I enjoyed NGNL a lot. Mostly for the art style and the fanservice, tho.
Also, if i'm not mistaken a femen faggot on faggot kotaku threw a tantrum because of the sexualized loli. That only makes me happier.
how do people experience this "hype" while watching that trash
I thought it's gonna be a lot less serious Kaiji as haremshit and otaku pandering(first episode making me believe that even more) which would've been fun at the very least, but instead I got haremshit where every game is asspull snoozefest(excluding Jibril game, that one didn't make me yawn every few seconds) with obnoxious characters
I don't understand
holy shit you basically said the same thing as I did and I even forgot to say that the only thing I liked about it is the artstyle
did we expect too much after watching Kaiji or something
imagine actually writing this unironically
the autism is off the fucking charts
>Because durrrrr, they're just that good?
Yes. Git gud kid
Well aren't you a special snowflake. It's funny, when someone memes on you you'll want to act all high and mighty, but when it comes to memes you like you're probably the biggest shitposter there is you fucking faggot. Quit acting like you're better than anyone, because you're not.
You too faggot, next time someone makes a joke about about a big guy for you or some other nonsense I don't want to hear a fucking peep out of you. Put your money where your mouth is for once. That all said,
This is a pretty bad meme. You should pribably stop using it.
Fuck off, Greg Land.
>but when it comes to memes you like you're probably the biggest shitposter there is you fucking faggot.
stop projecting retard
your epic memeposting is equivalent to umadbro? trollface retardation
Why the latter part doesn't make sense?
It might bring down the artistic appreciation down if you care about the artistic integrity, but if trully do not care about who and how they made the cartoon, it wouldn't impact your judgement and appreciation of the piece.
It doesn't change the work self, the anime is the same regardless how it's been made. It could've been just a slideshow of animes made by someone else and it still wouldn't have mattered as long as it's good by itself.
in my opinion it was quite good
++ the artstyle and colors
+ likeable and interesting characters
+ a good progression pace
+ the voiceacting was fine
- logic feelt some mary-suu tier bullshit most of the times
Disregarding how it gave the main cast a hilariously unfair advantage at times, the show was easy to follow and fun to watch. In my personal opinion, the episode where they fought and beat Jibril was best; everyone becoming sfw naked, princess getting bullied, and blowing up the god damned universe were all enjoyable.
The worst parts were when the siblings could magically guess everything from a mathematical standpoint, worst offender being the gun ricochet thing. That was more ridiculous than Mythbusters could have ever done.
I didn't read the original source material, but the show made me interested. Definitely not for everyone though.
reddit likes it so that means /a/ must hate it.
It's honestly pretty good, decent visuals, good comedy. What more could you want?
Is it blatant wish fulfillment bullshit? Of course, but that's half of all fucking anime.
>The worst parts were when the siblings could magically guess everything from a mathematical standpoint
How would it be hard? Simple trig and they probably didn't even have to take things like wind into account considering it's a fucking video game.
I don't know about the anime but the LN is enjoyable as all hell.
Especially the last volume that show cases how humans are the weakest of the races and continuously get their shit handed to them.
And the whole past history with Disboard.
I liked the sound design and use of colors. The humor was okay, and the fanservice was fine to great. The main characters were unlikable and unsympathetic, and the logic and motivations of many side characters were between idiotic and impossible to comprehend. I was honestly rooting for them to lose at many points. I liked the voice acting sometimes, and the references didn't feel too overly forced. Overall, I fairly enjoyed watching it but I don't think I'd rewatch it or watch a S2.
>Plain stupid game strategy
>MC is the choosen one
>Badboy Alpha MC wanna be
>The girls didn't even have nipples
Well it has all the cliches that i hate from anime
It's good. Just don't treat /a/ as a single individual and form your own opinion
It's just that the people who like see no point in talking about it so the shitposting by those who don't shows up stronger.
As you lurk more you will notice that this always happens with shows that get way too popular. Looking at threads before and after airing is hilarious.
See One Punch Man, for exemple, before airing it was that great ONE comic scrabbles, and after airing, well soon someone will quote me to say how bad, cliche and overused it is
The color scheme/wizard of oz shit was pretty cool until it started burning my eyes. Apart from that is was just pretty fun.
The show did help me make an awesome friend my freshman year of college, so it has that going for it at least.
