Yeah, it makes up for the complete lack of imagination evident in the work. Almost like I can see it was extremely fun to work on. I'll definitely watch the second season and movie when I get the chance.

I found Hibike drab and unengaging. It demonstrates the same lack of creativity and wallowing in cliches, but it lacks character. I acknowledge it's a technically superior work. It's hard to get in specifics since it left so little impression.

Lucky Star is a landmark anime that proved the feasibility of cute girls doing cute things without any plot or humor. It's culturally important for heralding a new era of anime, plus the show itself constantly pays homage to the preceding era of anime culture. It's Kyoani's Otaku no Video, only it changed anime forever.

It has other qualities as well, like Horiguchi the character designer who would afterwards create the style the studio has been ripping off ever since. It has Yamakan drama surrounding it. It has Shiraishi live action singing and dancing before his face got paralyzed. It has Aya Hirano before she was slut shamed into exile. Lucky Star is a time capsule into the year 2007.

And yet another anime that has gorgeous visuals and sound that /a/ hypes up to no end. I can admit presentation wise this show is fantastic but plot and character wise it is ehh at best. Huruchi is better....hell Hyouka is better than this as well.
