It's somehow the best "serious" zombie show in all of anime. Note the drifters of the dead ova was an original not found in the source manga.

If i'm remembering right it's not being finished because the writer and artist had a falling out. Writer does not want to continue the manga after the last big tsunami, sales were also somewhat poor in japan. Artist went on to make Triage X. And it suffered for not having a decent writer.

Yeah, that was really weird. I actually dropped the show before because I felt the fanservice was too much, but a few years ago I got the itch for zombies and rewatched it and got super into it.

It was a really comfy series, hit all the right points for a good character based zombie story, and now it's deader than the zombies.

Also Rei was best girl.

The tsunami and heart problem is complete bull. He's currently writing for LN about tanks and elves. Daisuke Satou wrote himself into a corner with HOTD and lacks any motivation to continue writing it. The manga started way back in 2005 and it only has 30 chapters for Chrisake. His hiatuses were longer than the manga was running.
