I just didn't get that into it, the animation is kind of hit and miss and I didn't really connect with any of the characters. This season is irredeemably garbage though, so it isn't like I will have anything else to watch. The giants are kind of spoopy and a weird enemy.

I might just rewatch Yukikaze for the billionth time

I don't think it's common at all, but I personally didn't like what the movie changed about the characters and the internal politics of the aliens. Them actually having their own language was nice, though.

I don't remember exactly what I didn't like about the aliens, just that it felt less nuanced and clever. That's to be expected in a film with much less time to show all the details, but it still felt like a lot had been lost. I just remember that I watched the movie right after finishing the series and found it rather lacking.

The only scenes in the TV series that are 10/10 are all in the original ending, episode 27 in terms of animation. It's like the only one I thought "Oh they really tried on this one"
