Dude, you can talk all you want about how the light novels flesh out kirinos character better then the anime. But if you look at the anime on its own, Kirino is the worst choice and the ending is nonsensical insanity.

The whole second season is nonsensical insanity if you look at the anime alone. A different ending just seems more appealing because your personal biases, it wouldn't have made any more sense.
