Have we entered the golden age of manhwa?
what a time to be alive...
I think the main draw for them at the moment is newer readers that like the same as American reading direction and them mostly being in color like American comics. I wont say that there are not a lot of them i read like the Gamer and others but they tend to be lower quality story wise so far. Fun reads but not up to manga standards yet. Yes i was adding webtoon in since they are mostly in that group.
>not up to manga standards yet
I used to avoid manhwas like a plague before but after reading those four I can confidently say that those manhwas are BTFO'ing of mangas that are out today. well except OPM but the rest are getting destroyed easily by those big 4
braw go and little girl only one of those 4 that i've read they are good but most right now are more eye candy than substance yet but they are getting better.
Find me a good one that wont get axed 30 chapters in and i'll bite.
its hilarious how mad you faggots are that manhwas are destroying your precious little manga right now. are you some kind of gook or weaboo by any chance? deal with it faggot, manhwas are the future right now
The YoManga shill is back again.
Fine name me one good non-battle Harem or fan service manga that has not been axed to death in the last 2 years. You can't even try to get into anything manga anymore without knowing 20 chapters later its gonna get canned.
Yep i can name request boards as well. I'm not asking for shit to read you dumb ass i'm asking you to prove your point not just spout bullshit. Try coming up with an argument first before you speak.
can't really expect a decent argument from this gooks and weaboos mate. its quite sad that all they can cling to is their pathetic little manga and they're getting btfo hard by manhwas right now
>Fuck you /a/, you've disappointed me.
>expecting anything from /a/
no anon, you're the disappointment
Just cam here to say that Brawling girls is the best one in that site.
but mangas are gookshit as well anon. are you baiting me?
D.I.C.E is also worth mentioning. The story is interesting, and the art is fucking phenomenal at times.
One thing the Koreans have over mangakas is use of color and digital painting in general. But apparently, being a manhwa artist is seen as a bit of a taboo. They get nowhere near the respect a mangaka would in japan
MC was grounded at first with the power levels now its just too strong. like HxH with the Nen before Cell saga it took a jump too high
they have to, porn is banned in their country so this and kpop are their only release
>MC was grounded at first with the power levels now its just too strong.
He's an irregular, what was you expecting?
Even in the beginning they said the other irregulars were usually broken as fuck.
>they have to, porn is banned in their country
it is? I absolutely don't know anything about Korea other than some useless facts and whatsoever is this N.Korea we're talking about? or S.Korea?
If translators would only change the names of the characters to japanese-sounding ones, that'll get me to read manwhas. I mean
>Sun Bing, Jun-seo, Woo-jin, Ji-Hoon, Ji-Bun, Wo-min
It just sounds so wrong
Neither chinese shit, nor corean shit belongs on /a/.
/a/ is for anime & manga. Look at the fucking board title. Look at the board rules. FUCK OFF.
Sure is. ex is greeted by this if you don't go through a vpn, for example.
Funny thing is the feminist and fundi christian side of the govt is increasingly pushing to get webtoons to tone down too.
Even funnier that they don't seem to give a damn about the rampant human trafficking and prostitution that goes on here.
You enforce it with droves of fundamentalist christians and crazy parents "patrolling" the web for inappropriate content and reporting it to a special branch of the police.
4chan itself gets blocked once a month or so, too, after someone reports it.
I'm not sure how it keeps avoiding it though.
>you'll never read Peak's conclusion
Why even bother
It's okay. I have a VPN.
Also I visit Japan like twice a year.
And it's not like I'm a Korean citizen anyways, so I don't get forced to join the military for 2 years while getting paid literally nothing for it.
I really wish Korean had a standardized and widely used form of romanization like Japanese does with their Hepbern system.
It's just never consistent between people translating, regardless of if it's webtoons or actual literature.
>I was just posting about shit that doesn't belong on this board
The funniest shit about all this bait activity is how all of these faggots are avoiding giving any manga name because >hurr durr no spoon feeding
Sasuga /a/ if there is one thing consistent about this shithole this is it
some Korean NTR'd his dad and all he can come up with is gook shit and other racist flinging stuff. hilarious really.
and he's secretly fapping to kpops lol
From what I know of the webtoon scene, it's basically a cut-throat contest between rank amateur webcomickers to see who can get the most views/best ratings.
The top percentile ends up getting serialized in websites like Naver and Daum comics and paid for it.
Really competitive, and it really doesn't do anything for the quality of whatever they output honestly I think.
Korean Webtoon artists don't tend to be professional artists who have a background nor do they have much in terms of editors like Japanese magazine mangaka do. All the sites tend to want is the revenue.
Admittedly this is why clickbait shit like lewd webtoons and stuff tend to show up the most lately.
You describe it pretty well, but let's not pretend that Japan with its sales figures and wsj rankings is much different.
The Korean stuff just panders more because they don't have to deal with editors.
Yeah, it's not all that much different. It's just the level of effort one needs to do to get through paperwork and all that is a little higher than the Daum website stuff I think.
Also, Japan probably requires you to fax your application in still.
I should have clarified non-anime television.
In any case, there's Japanese anime airing in both countries simultaneously and Korean fans don't seem to care about nationalism one bit. It's pretty refreshing to see.
I went to watch the movie version of AnoHana with my cousin and we both cried.
I'm waiting for GuP movie to show here.
It's soon, I just know it.
Kizumonogatari is definitely being shown here too.
It does. It's just that the system now is replacing an old system and then you still have weird people who try to spell things phonetically and throw in extra Hs and shit because two consecutive vowel sounds is too much for them.
Japanese and Korean are pretty damn similar when it comes to pronounciation.
Korea just has a lot more ending consonant sounds than ん.
Koyomi would be 코요미 and it's pronounced exactly the same, for instance. What's also fun is that the grammar structure is pretty much identical too. You could literally throw a phrase in Japanese into Google Translate for Korean and you'd be able to get something like 90% legible given it's not in a dialect of some sort.
I should also probably clarify that most stuff doesn't get dubbed here unless it's shit like childrens movies. Which sometimes come with an option for no dubs too when it matters like Detective Conan or Doraemon.
It's all subbed.
Not that Anon, but honestly, outside of the porn block which is bypassable, it's not that bad for a foreign citizen living here.
It's pretty much like living in Japan if Japanese people weren't as polite and much more likely to sing with you while drinking. Or fight you. Also public transportation is much better in Seoul than it is in Tokyo cause all the train lines aren't segmented and separated by their private owners. Don't have to constantly walk in and out of train stations cause you have to buy multiple tickets for a single trip.
For the record, I think Korean dubs, or rather voice acting as whole, are probably the worst in the world.
I don't know why it is but Korean voice actors/actresses just CANNOT keep themselves from hamming and overacting lines left and right. I don't know if this is because the idea that you're acting a voice is mainly reserved for childrens' cartoons like Cubix and that's basically the entirety of their voice bank or what, but it's fucking god awful on the ear.
To be fair the romanization of korean doesn't really translate well. Everything all looks the same and pronouncing words look completely different than how they actually sound.
>begin reading manhwa that looks interesting
>mfw have to scroll down constantly to read the long ass pages
Does Korea print this shit out on scrolls or something?
Koreanmyself, I'd like to strangle whoever thought it was a good idea to stuff as many vowels into romanization as possible because that shit's frustrating. Instead of keeping it one vowel like you would with Japanese, they try to emulate the original language as much as possible but it ends up being unreadable lot of the time, like pic related.
imo Korean can be romanized to English well but people are going about it ass-backwards
Tangentially related, names should be hyphenated at all times if nothing else so people can tell what's suppose to be the first name.
>he doesn't use infinit scroll to read his manga/doujins
When it's printed, it's in books.
It's just it's all drawn with reading on smartphones in mind so it all really long images that you have to scroll down to see rather than have to turn pages and run into another loading screen.
When printed, they're all printed normally.
I dunno, maybe because they don't have as solid an industry as Japan does? Or they don't have editors since they're basically webcomics?
