Sinbad was a poorfag, while Shouryuu was the young son of a king/lord in Japan who had inherited his kingdom. Once they were a war, he wanted to sacrifice himself to let his people escape, because he knew that their enemies would be satisfied to have his head and his land. However, Shouryuu's people loved him so much that went to aid him in a battle: all of them, from the peasants to the soldiers he had released from service. It was all against his orders and he saw his people die and get slaughtered before his eyes. The one who saved him was Rokuta, Enkidu, the Kirin of En. Who had hated rulers because he saw them as nothing but people who wage war and finally accepted Shouryuu is the ruler Tentei (Heavens) have chosen for his kingdom. He asked him if he still wanted a kingdom after this, Shouryuu accepted and then Rokuta sworn loyalty, make him immortal and took him to the Twelve Kingdoms. Shouryuu turned the devastated land of En into a prosperous kingdom for 500 years of his rule (and it's still ongoing). He's known as the Ever-King of En.

Sinbad is kind of inspired by Shouryuu, but he's kind of a darker and twisted version. Because both were merchant/fisher kings of sorts.
