That may be true but Harry Potter was easily one of the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the seriesüf only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but itüfs certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books are g-g-good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King

Two things I never get:

>have truth serum
>innocent people being sentenced and criminals avoiding jail are still a thing
It doesn't make any sense, unless they have some wizard jews controlling the government and trying to ruing everything.

>casting speed is limited by human reflexes
>the most deadly spell can be dodged and kills one person at the time
>no one uses superior muggle weaponry
Just drop some missiles on top of bad guys. Why won't they do that? Why would all wizards be completely unaware of how technology works? I bet jew wizards did this.

Conclusion: HP makes no sense and plot holes are so deep, you can see EoE at the bottom, or Voldemort was an inside job.

Honestly, the only annoying thing about TFA was that Rey was boring as fuck.

I entered the movie expecting to hate Finn and he was surprisingly cool considering all.

Kylo Red was the best part though, he's a whiny child and a pathetic Vader wannabe. It's great.

>>
>>135962716
Nah, Harry Potter was pretty natural and organic about how it revealed things.

These days you get episode one of LN about kids trapped in a MMO school and it's just a fucking tourism video about how the world/school works with some token fanservice. Then there's all this weird obsession with strict ordering and bureaucratic inanity.

The worst thing you could say about Harry Potter, is that Harry himself was pretty uninterested in how the world works beyond the bare essentials. I mean, compare to Hermione who was learning everything she could learn, Harry learned basically just the minimum he needed to know to get through the day.

Only during the last third of the series, from when he finally gits gud at being a Quidditch keeper. Before that he was just like the typical male friend of male MC in animu.

I'll give the other 2, but then it was only possible because Harry only had eyes for other girls. That said male MC having zero interest whatsoever in main girl (and vice versa) is almost unheard of in animu too.

>>135970023

>>
>>135966514
Thats because Anime and LN's are written by nerdy Otaku who think everything needs a million rules and everything needs to be laid out and magic needs to be explained scientifically.

This is actually a common complaint you see from nerds on 4chan against harry potter "HP is shit, they don't explain rules or how magic works" while ignoring the fucking tone of the books are whimsical.

Its like those fucking autistic remakes of Grimm fairy tales, but they instead of just having Red Riding Hood get fucking eaten by a wolf, there is domestic and geo politics, magical rules, races all set up for no fucking reason, instead of being just a wolf, the wolf is a lycan you see, from the last remnants of the lycan kingdom established 1000 years ago in the deep woods, the lycan waged a war with the humans, but with help from the wizards of white tower, the humans were able to overcome the lycan and destroy them almost entirely, the Ragnos, one of the few hundred remaining wolves is a lycan hunter who needs to bring game back to his people, so he establishes a trap to capture some humans for consumption.

Too many nerds, something like that is apparently better than, he's a wolf, and he likes eating people.

I have no problem with works that have deep lore and rules (middle earth, earthsea etc) but fuck this trend of bureaucratic rule exposition dumps in fantasy especially anime since Japs love their fucking exposition dumps.

I believe for your first point it was explained as pureblood wizards completely fail at logical thinking. Probably because magic breaks all laws of the universe etc
For the second I think it was explained that even the passive weak ass shields wizards activate in battle easily deal with muggle weapons. Pretty sure human magic users are super human in Harry Potter anyway, it's not uncommon for people to crash and fall in Quidditch and only end up with a sprain / fractured bone.
On top of that you have magical healing.
>>
>People keep comparing Little Witch Academia to Harry Potter instead of comparing to The Worst Witch which has literally the exact same premise and the exact same characters.

According to Rowling, a normal person with a shotgun would beat a wizard.
>>
>>135978290
Rowling confirmed humans beat wizards.

Also that is one of the major points, fucking douchenozzle voldermort trying to take over the world, would reveal the existence of wizards which would then face full retaliation as humans just fucking storm the wizarding world and genocide everything.
>>
Name an animu magic user who would lose to a Harry Potter wizard.
>>
>>135978355
>>135978388
Oh really? Well forget what I said then. That's pretty dissapointing actually.

Also how would they storm the wizarding world? They can't see or access it. They can only interact with wizards who step into the muggle world.
>>
>>135978468
If a war really did break out between wizards and normal humans, the human side would have the advantage. Normal humans outnumber wizards a million to one. While humans don't understand magic all that well, wizards are also largely ignorant of human resources and technology. Also, humans have entire armies trained for combat. The combat specialists in Harry Potter aren't actually all that impressive in the grand scheme of things, especially since any civilian with a wand can apparently fight competently against terrorists. This implies that to a wizard, "combat training" is basically limited to what you learn in the average boarding school. Wizards don't know shit about martial arts, combat strategy or tactics. A school filled with children, teenagers and teachers were able to ward off the most dangerous terrorist group in wizarding history, and this is supposed to be considered a major accomplishment.

The problem is that everything needs a certain amount of rules. Rowling's world has rules, though not as many as other things, but she often contradicts those few rules in later books. It's fine to play it loose, but at least try to limit the amount of plotholes you introduce.

Griffindor: Tower

That was actually the point of those bits. Tolkein's writing style tended to shift a lot to reflect the content, and was insufferably mundane and droning whenever dealing with the Hobbit was of life because, well, it was mundane and droning. He actually did a pretty good job of imitating the long-winded nonsense of somebody who loves the sound of their own voice talking at length about irrelevant shit. It's great irony because the peaceful pre-adventure parts of the book are so incredibly boring compared to the actual adventuring and the characters themselves are clueless about this but gradually realize it throughout. The reader knows how boring it is right away because it's presented in a boring way, a way that's directly imitating just how boring their way is.

Tolkein was a very rhetorically adept author. It's a shame he wasted most of his career writing about midgets and magical celts battling fantasy niggers.

>Implying stories about whites battling hordes of niggers are a waste of time.

I think they're cool. You always think the whites will lose because of the sheer hordes of niggers, but the whites always manage to compensate for lower numbers with supremely good tactics and innate genius. Like the time when basically all of Africa tried to kick out whitey in the 1970s 'anti whitey war', and whitey was just like, "We're white, you lose" and by golly did the Africans lose. Shit, the average SA soldier must have had a 40 to 1 k/d.

It's almost half ironic, though I'm sure that's the sort of self-deprecating humour that attracts the sort who mistakenly think they're among good company.

>Thats because Anime and LN's are written by nerdy Otaku who think everything needs a million rules and everything needs to be laid out and magic needs to be explained scientifically.
This shit right here is the cornerstone of bad writing, and the fastest way to get anyone with a brain to drop a series. Authors that think it's ok to spend 50% of all time dedicated to exposition explaining their inane magic/science/battle system because they think it's like a video game (hint: it's not) are the worst of the worst. That's how you end up with shit like Raildex or One Piece where the authors try explaining their ability system with pointless details and then at several points completely contradict what they've written because they need to plot to move in one direction and don't know how to color within their own lines. Laying out some general rules and then saying "It's magic" is fine; I can buy that. Spending 10 chapters explaining how the magic works via "science" and then blatantly contradicting the concepts you've tried to describe is shit writing. Anyone who likes superfluous levels of detail in these sorts of battle systems can fucking kill themself.

Fantasy stories with rational, explained magic are all stuff like MMO LNs, young adult fantasy novels, and video games. It's the worst trash on the planet.

Stories about intuitive magic include what little good fantasy exists, as well as real world myths and folklore which are infinitely more complex and interesting than any modern fantasy setting.

>implying mmo magic is explained much less rational

MMO magic is completely rational, so much so that you can quantify and perform calculations on it. This spell costs x mana and does y damage to one target. Just using that you can figure out how many times your wizard can cast the spell and how much damage he can do.

>implying having a working, ever present dues ex machina on stand by makes good fiction

All settings are 100% susceptible to deus ex machina. It's entirely up to the author to prevent them and nothing else. Like, even in a setting with no magic you can just have the cops show up at the right time or whatever. Knowing your protagonist's exact quantified power level and which kinds of mana they need to cast lightning magic won't prevent that.

Hufflepuff is literally just for those, who don't fit in the other 3 houses.
Not courage or justice inclined, not power/heritage/evil inclined, or academics inclined, you go to Hufflepuff.
That's why it has got the highest population of all the houses. It's basically made for normal wizards, who aren't anything special.

Regular anime is constantly reborn and watched by most - whether they are newfags or oldfags just rewatching/clearing backlog. Seasonal anime is usually hyped up but then dies once the season ends. Never to be watched or talked about by many people once the season is over. Think of annual vs perennial plants.
