Just what you'd expect from Erika-chan! Consecutive victory!
Which time is it?
When Erika-chan is commanding, don't think about losing!
The enemy was simply too weak!
We still have a long way to go.
My elementary school senshado team...
As expected, captain!
Of course!
... won the match against other school!
Wherever I go, I'm peerless!

Wanna go to "Youth Class" team?
I'll go! Absolutely let me go!
Well aren't you loud...
You only have classic senshado before middle school.
I'm already tired from what you can do with elementary school team!
Itsumi,
I do think that your abilities are very strong for your age.
Well, that might be so.
But...
I also think that real "strength" isn't only about winning in the match.
So with that in mind
It would be good for you to go to a new stage and gain new experiences.
Don't worry. Wherever I'll go, I won't lose!

Notice how Maho is impressed, but Erika herself hates it. The theme of "pride" is indeed strong here. Prideful person will always blame themselves in every situation, because they judge themselves by very high standards. That's why LN version of Erika drowning but blaming Miho is not consistent with her character.

Why?
Itsumi-san's eyes were all red inside the tank!

She is so full of herself.
She probably
Thinks we're below her too.

>>135937470
LN Erika drowning but blaming Miho for running away after defeat caued by the incident (as oppossed to herself staying after taking part in same incident) is actually consistent with prideful character. "Look, weakling, I stay while you run". Not saying I particularly like that twist, juts pointing out the one thing of it that's actually consistent (lots of other things aren't).

It is also fitted for, but not with, additional passive side protection armour. (The attachment points are on the slots above the third and fourth roadwheels.)
>Other significant changes include an auxiliary power unit allowing all subsystems to be run with the main engine switched off. It also has an air-conditioning system for the crew and turret electronics and all-electric gun-control equipment. (If I'm not mistaken the grilled part located on the rear above the drive sprocket in the picture.)

LN Erika is the one who issued the command that led to her tank getting dunk'd, then finding out her savior abandoned her.
Manga Erika was really angry about Miho running away moreso than the loss itself (shouting about the effects that kind of abandonment had on her comrades back at their school, alongside them having to see Miho pop up as an enemy commander during the bracket drafts).
Both instances have her seeing her friend run away (from the school and sport itself) rather than stay, take her lumps and continue onward. Erika was placed into the vice commander position by Maho knowing full well she was just a Miho replacement who couldn't match up.
It's all pretty consistent, really. Though I wonder if LN Erika had to endure the "silent bullying" that made some of the drowning survivors transfer out of the schoolwhich served as Miho's motivation for leaving as wellaccording to the manga.

That's not the M1A3, that's one of the CATTB prototypes, probably one of the later "Block III" models.
>CATTB – Experimental model with a 140 mm smoothbore gun, heavy armored turret and upgraded hull based on the M1's chassis. It had a mechanical loading system in turret bustle, a new engine and probably other upgrades, never fielded. The tank went into trials in 1987–1988. CATTB stands for Component Advanced Technology Test Bed.
The bigger (and heavier) 140mm cannon and auto-loader explains the giant turret bustle. I have doubts they'd be transporting the new M1A3 variant out in the open like that.

Well, that's pretty much what it is. In the english language its pronounciation changes wildly depending on the context. On its own it's a sort of "kyu", but in the context of the queen example in >>135949130, it's pronounced as "kw". Context is key in the english language, though it's often random and detached from the written form.
For example, I don't know how you get an "ei" sound from the letter A, and then go on saying "tarp" instead of "teirp". Or how the letter E is a long "i" to you on its own and in the word "lead" (clue), but a short "e" in the word "lead" (metal). In both of these words the letter E is also followed by a seemingly silent A.
Maybe this would all make more sense if I was a linguist and we were having this discussion in real life. I'm actually not sure if the above makes any sense at all to you, since I'm not a native english speaker.

Yeah I realize the inanity of that statement. But I can still understand how some things would be difficult for an ESL, like arbitrary things such as moose or geese, but I've never thought of English as that much of a difficult to distinguish language, dialects aside.
>>135952523
And also, this is true, but your original argument rode on how you said Japanese was easy to understand, when in fact, they are much less concise with their pronunciation.
>>135952597
I know Japanese has a gender-neutral pronoum (which I assume she's using). Thing is, English doesn't. If so, correct TL (if we know the gender of the person she refers to) is to use a normal pronoum. "That person" is usually reserved for situations where the translator doesn't know, or doesn't want to reveal, the gender of teh person being talked about.

Finland follows the Nordic model economically but not socially so you get the good healthcare and public education without the social bullshit you see in Sweden. The BT-42 is probably really comfy as far as tanks go. The suspension is smooth and the turret is big and spacious.
>>135952902
Eh, nah. In all honestly I would only inflict this language on my worst enemy. It's a complete waste of time if you're not a massive fan or a highly talented polyglot (or just a native speaker to begin with). It takes a lot of effort and dedication for both the student and the teacher, and while learning by immersion is always very effective, it requires you to move to a place that can get so cold and dark during the winter that it might actually give you depression, and where small talk and chatting up strangers is generally considered unusual behaviour.
Of course, as with anything, if you really have the mind and the time for it, best of luck. You may want to consider some professional tutoring, the average finn tends to be utterly useless when it comes to teaching finnish grammar in a comprehensive manner. It just tends to come naturally to most of us, so we kind of forget about the technicalities after high school.

Finns don't idolize any specific people groups the way the japanese do, so nationalities don't generally impress us anywhere near as much as good manners and a friendly demeanor. Still, germans have a good standing among finns.
Basically your reception will be warm, but nothing flashy. People will be happy to help you with things, but you have to ask them for help first. Finns are not very socially proactive. However, even though finns consider small talk unusual, they won't leave you hanging if you just ask for directions or something similar. >HEAT rounds from a 4.5-incher have the power to punch through a T-34 from any angle
>the fuses on the rounds that were mounted in the BT-42 were defective
Lemme clarify for you. The matter wasn't that those particular rounds' fuses were defective. the matter was that the DESIGN of the rounds' fuses was defective. They were INTENDED to be able to punch through a T-34, but they failed to detonate the warhead at the right time to create a proper cone. No Finnish-made 4.5'' HEAT round ever worked.
And, because there was no other HEAT round ever made for that British gun (never intended to fire anything other than HE, so the Finns had to design its own round based upon a German one), nope. "HEAT rounds from a 4.5-incher have the power to punch through a T-34" is not a correct statement.
Of which, of course, the BT-42 is innocent.

I've been wondering if this tank, or one of its predecessors (m/38, L-60), could work with a crew of two. How accessible are the gunner's controls for the commander, for example? Weight-wise it's tankathlon material, and seems pretty nimble. Looks great, too.

Yep, but the m/40 has a big ol' 37mm gun to blow any and all tankettes away.
Of course, seeing as tankathlon is pretty much unregulated, it might be possible to jerryrig an aircraft's automatic snub 37mm cannon into the m/37's turret. What a monster that would produce.

>HEAT rounds from a 4.5-incher have the power to punch through a T-34 from any angle
Unfortunately they're effective only when they impact the target surface more or less directly. Good luck negotiating that angled armor even with HEAT rounds that actually work.

>Would the initiator be Rin or Shizuka though?
Well, that's a tough question, since even though Shizuka is so dominant, I think she's actually the girl in their relationship (Rin is usually the one that appreciates her beauty, also Hime is the one that does the feet service.)
>And how awkward their first time would be?
It would be in the tank under severe stress. No time too think about being awkward. Rin will kiss Shizuka after she uncharacteristically loses her composure due to unfavorable flow of battle to make her calm down. After they're done, they will look like picrelated.

Knowing the composition of the picture as a St. Gloriana girl's group shot, it's actually very likely to be Darjeeling. Her hair colour is an intermediate between Pekoe's ginger and Assam's blond, and she ties her hair up like Pekoe.
The thing that'll throw you off is the shading in the picture. Darjeeling's hair is usually shown much brighter, closer to a blonde than a ginger.
