Just got the first few light novels, very excited to begin. I'm going to miss the music and voices though.

Has any other promotional anime had this much effort put into its music and production? To my understanding the S&W anime was made primarily as a means of promoting the light novels, but its production quality is fucking nuts. The music alone tops everything else I've ever seen, and the animation is nothing to sneeze at either.

As an amateur animator, it's animation quality is fucking pants. Even at important times.

I think that's more symptomatic of TV anime than of the production studio though. If it were an ova series that were more focused, you wouldn't have those 2-frame scenes of dialogue.

I still remember being very pleased with a number of scenes though, mostly the ones where Holo transforms.

Yeah, I think the animation is done just well enough that the vast majority of people wouldn't notice.

In some scenes it's combined with special effects, compositiononing, music, bgd etc to just set the scene so well that it doesn't matter.

There's one set of cuts that basically just has the cart pan and the wheel turn but it's made beautiful by the background, well placed music and conversation, and a lovely sfx for a gentle trickle of river water.

tldr it's good enough
