I've never been more impatient for chapter than I've been since UQ 107. Karin does weird thing to my heart.
>Raken training arc
Anon cmon, i like comfy too but there was some genuinely good shounen battle parts of negima, long as akamatsu doesnt go overboard on either this will be fine
Holy fucking shit, this bastard is bigger womanizer than his grandfather or great grandfather.
Mizore said he can impregnate woman with a glance, at that time that's a joke but now it seems plausible.
I'm not saying he doesn't clearly like her the best.
The issue is it shows he clearly has no idea what love means, despite us going through an entire fucking arc about him learning what love means.
It comes from the ambiguous word. Suki can mean love and like in nip. When he talks to someone other than Eva, he means like. How can you believe his love for Eva is not pure after all these chapters. Even the Kirie arc reminded us of that again.
Because he's 4, it's like daughters saying they'll marry Daddy when they grow up, I doubt Touta is thinking all that far ahead besides that he's lived with her a long time and loves her.
I know this is isn't about UQ Holder, but does anyone know the exact chapter where Kaede fights Quintum, in Negima? The one where she nearly dies by Quintum, but it revived by Cosmo Entalecheia.
>he clearly has no idea what love means
Not really.I think you just have a narrow understanding of love.
There are many feelings of love.
Also it´s not strange to love his family.
>it's like daughters saying they'll marry Daddy when they grow up
So?Are you saying the feelings a daughter has for her dad which she wants to express in the ultimate sign of love are not real?
Korean Bro #2 Reporting in.
I've got to leave really soon, but I'll translate the first page. As always, I'm not nearly as fluent as OG Korean Bro #1 so please keep that in mind.
>A medicine that reveals someone's emotions...?
>It's a snack that makes one confess.
>After you eat it, the effects will start in 1 hour
>Whatever you're thinking will be said out loud and this will last for 12 hours.
>However, after eating the medicine, I didn't expect
>That this guy would immediately propose again.
>Of course, that's why earlier, Konoe said that Tota was acting strange... no
>It wasn't the others!!
>I also ate that medicine!
Whoops sorry, konoe and tota are the same person. That one line should be:
>Of course, that's why earlier, Konoe Tota was acting strange.
Who the fuck uses someone first and last name together when referring to them?
She becomes Space Ninja in the epilogue to the point she can traverse space without a suit.
She is effectively the most hardcore non-mage in the series.
I always wondered why my compatriot liked Kaede since all I recalled of her was that she was a ninja but the more I recall, the more I realize that the calibur of opponent's she's faced has been much MUCH higher than she should be able to handle.
Given Mana is her rival and Mana is Zazie-tier under select conditions. Kaede is greatly underrated.
If I also remember correctly didn't Kaede also take on a possessed Negi, or something along those lines. And she also saved Negi from being killed by the multi-arm dude. I haven't read Negima in years, so I may be wrong.
She's a great character, though.
She isn't dead. She's effectively immortal.
That would be weaksauce. Kotaro is probably still alive so he should get his shit together.
She fought an unserious Al. She fought an Averruncus, she basically was the only human to actually not get fucked up in the magical world and Negi had enough sense to leave her by herself in the magical world due to her mad skills.
Kaede is hitting far above her weight class something fierce for a plain and ordinary human.
>She isn't dead.
>is there with the other dead charakters.
If they're anything like Demonfolk then they're extended lifespan.
However since I cannot recall any scene which mentions their extended lifespan, I will retract my statement.
If that is specifically all the dead characters in the second panel then yeah, you'd be correct. However Satsuki isn't in that group either.
Satsuki confirmed for inventing Ambrosia.
Of course who do you think will think will kick negis sorry ass in the tournament!
>there are people in this thread who will deny that Chachamaru won the Negi bowl
Wait, you got a point. I need a list who didn't appear in second panel.
Remember when Akamatsu make Zazie demon princess from Venus? After hundreds of chapter? But she's not Zazie? But actually she is Zazie's sister? Honestly, I flip my shit that time.
I won't repeat same mistake. Again.
Why isn't Mana on that list at all? She isn't even seen with the alive characters. What the fuck, Ken?
Except Chachamaru is still there, and she's considered an immortal (according to Kitty). So I'm still confused on why they're not there. Ken obviously didn't forget they existed, but they're still not there.
Aren't Black Arts usually just forbidden or evil spells? Things like Magia Erebea or that arm attack that demon uses. I guess they aren't very forbidden if you can use them in a public tournament, though.
Depends on the context, "Black Arts" was used for all kinds of magic/whatever the church didn't like.
Though you might be right, but it wasn't translated as such back in Negima.
>Better than any of Negima's best girls.
Negima had too many girls, yes, but it still had much better girls than UQ Holder.
Eva and Ayako not being in your Negima list made your taste questionable already. In UQH, there's only Eva, Kirie and Karin with Kuroumaru if you want. Shinobu and Mizore have just started being relevant and harem elements are getting more important of course Negima girls would be better.
>see this thread
>sees all this Kaede love
Thank you anons. She is truly best girl.
Chisame and Chachamaru was the true end
Eva literally got her past retconned like 3 times in this series; one retcon literally takes away how she was in love with Nagi, and replaced it with Touta. Her personality is also all over the place in this manga. Mana is still basically Mana, except a little more outgoing.
They made it into that she was in love with Tota the entire time and Nagi (and Negi for that matter) was just a temporary replacement for him. She outright says that she was waiting for him for over 500 years. I don't mind small retcons, but the most recent one was extremely bad.
Please, anyone who isn't a first level reader knows that her love of Nagi was always superficial. There was never any substance to it, and her only "reason" for it seemed to be "he's more powerful than even me". The only question was "Why?" She could have just been a girl crushing on the cute guy because inexperienced (young) girls just do that. Turns out no, she's crushing on him because of a previous love and a prophecy telling her she's supposed to be all up ons with this dude.
It's perfectly consistent.
>Turns out no, she's crushing on him because of a previous love and a prophecy telling her she's supposed to be all up ons with this dude.
Remember, this was never a thing until recently. Nagi essentially did what Tota did, by comforting her and being kind to her (although he didn't want a relationship with her at the time). Then the most recent retcon made Tota do what Nagi did, before he did it.
It's definitely not consistent, nor is it a good retcon.
>Her personality is also all over the place in this manga.
Yeah, it's entirely unreasonable that someone's behavior would be different at points of their life hundreds of years apart in wildly different circumstances.
So you're saying that Eva is just a slut who'll drop drawers for any dude that says nice things to her, and the only reason she's not 99.9% cum at this point is because her past intimidates most guys from making the easy move for loli sex?
Of those 500 years Touta was late by, approximately 400 occurred before Nagi and Negi and comprised the MURDER MURDER EMO SAD stage of her life.
It's statistically improbable that any previous versions of Eva that aren't from the very beginning (what Touta encounters) or fairly recently (Negi onwards) aren't basically identical to Negima Eva.
I understand her character should change, but it doesn't change the fact that she's the worst version of Kitty to date, and I don't think Ken even know what he wants to do with her right now.
No I'm just saying the most recent retcon was a shit retcon that needlessly took away a big portion of her backstory for new shipping developments.
And it meant a lot more that Nagi was kind to her, despite her being known as a monster. But that got thrown completely out the window.
It's not just that she was shunned and feared, she was actively being hunted down. I would assume it was pretty rare for her to meet a guy that wasn't scared shitless of her vampirism or try to turn her in / kill her.
Eva never seemed to fully accept Tota's litlte prophecies that she'd find an awesome redhead to get girly boners over, or find friends and happiness. She was usually depressed and downtrodden by the time she saw him again. And with hundreds of years between when she last saw (training) Touta and first saw Nagi, she could have easily lost confidence and been genuinely surprised and swept off her feet by what you would naively think she should've seen coming.
But it is inconsistent and a huge retcon. It was needlessly added for blatant shipping and took away a big part of her character. Ken made Tota do exactly what Nagi did, then made it so she was in love with Tota. It's not about her falling for someone else, it's about how poorly executed it was. She was originally in love with Nagi, then was falling for Negi, then Tota came in and reconnected the past. So now a lot of interaction ad development Nagi, Negi & Kitty had together become null.
>So now a lot of interaction ad development Nagi, Negi & Kitty had together become null.
Welcome to Time Travel Shenanigans, Inc.!
Negima had enough issues with this junk as it was. UQ Holder was just in the path of the snowball and had to keep rolling.
I believe genuine dissenting opinions are opinions based on logic. That anon's opinion was just brain dead.
How does Touta become a retcon when there was no reason for Eva to tell everyone that she fell for a doll 400 years ago? This dude either just don't know how falling in love feels or he's putting in A+ effort to troll.
>falling for Negi
She never did
>She was originally in love with Nagi, then Tota came in and reconnected the past
What, a person can't forget who they originally fell for now?
Eva forgot about Touta on her trip outside the world and fell for Negi maybe because of the suggestion Touta gave. Her subconscious made her do it. But she never forgot Touta completely. It's the same exact story as Rurouni Kenshin's. Kenshin's wife Tomoe died and when they visited her grave after Kaoru told Kenshin never to forget her. It's that kinda shit man, it's just weirder because Eva's an immortal.
Negima fucked with timelines a lot too, but never did anything as bad for character development as this. And just because Negima did it, doesn't mean UQ should do it too. It's a poor justification for this retcon.
Are you implying Kiri'e arc wasn't good and had decent character development? Isn't the point of having character arcs is to make them even better?
So far Kirie is so far ahead of the others and is only beaten by Eva who got her arc from the timefuckery with Dana that was great.
You don't know what a retcon is, do you? Look up the word and come back.
>How does Touta become a retcon when there was no reason for Eva to tell everyone that she fell for a doll 400 years ago? This dude either just don't know how falling in love feels or he's putting in A+ effort to troll.
Because Kitty being in love from Touta from the begining is literally a retcon, regardless of your opinions on it. Touta wasn't a thing in Negima, only Nagi and Negi were. She was in love with Nagi from the start, until time shenanigans during the training arc happened. She was never in love with Touta from the beginning, until recently; this is a new ham fisted retcon Ken gave us so he could lazily make Kitty fall in love with Touta, without putting in actual character interaction and development.
>She never did
Yes she did. Her backstory in Negima made it very clear her first love was Nagi, due to him being kind to her, despite being treated and hunted down like a monster. But now, with the retcon, of her being in love with Touta, a majority of her backstory is Null.
>What, a person can't forget who they originally fell for now?
Again, you're acting like this was ALWAYS a thing. Remember Touta was not a thing in Negima; she was originally in love with Nagi, but that was recently disregarded and erased.
You either don't seem to understand what a retcon is, and/or you're ignoring the fact that she was in love with Nagi from the start, until Ken sloppily changed her past.
Holy fuck I, and others explained this like 4 times in this thread, and this was obvious information in Negima. This was introduced and made clear early on with her backstory. They already showed and explained why she was in love with him. The fact is she wanted a relationship with Nagi, regardless of your opinion.
I really hope you're not this stupid.
u r right for one thing, and that's that translate is ALWAYS better if it's from original script, not from any other. i'm just sayin if someone wants to translate it, the other should make edited version as soon as few pages are translated. Then I guess it's not the case with this manga.
So Eva just wants to consume him and take his power for her self. It's only when she realizes that she can't defeat him and he'll always kick her ass no problem that she goes all lovey-dovey, taking a different tack to gain control of his power. Classical abused woman.
not him but
I always thought that despite UQ Holder being a sequel to Negima, it happens in an alternative timeline. Why can't it be so simple that Eva in UQ is an alternate version of Eva from Negima, thus making her past a possible alternation from the one she had in Negima?
Although, we're not sure what Negima timeline it's in, we're positive it's a canon sequel. Ken even said it's the definite sequel to Negima. UQ Holder was also hinted to at the end of Negima, when it talked about 3-1's, and Kitty's future.
And it's not a different, Eva, her past just got changed.
While I came off hostile, I'm not entirely against Touta x Kitty, I just don't like how poorly done and stupid the the retcon was.
I still like it.
It doesn't make sense to me that someone hardened by literally hundreds of years of strife, misery, loneliness, betrayal, murder, and all of the life's worst shit--and, importantly, that this was true for her entire life, as her life has always been god-awful crap even before the life maker transformed her--could just go lovey-dovey ultra-dere mode in such a brief period. There needed to be something to act as the catalyst: a previous love, or otherwise some reason to believe in love. Enter Touta, who gives her both--she loved him, and he filled her mind with visions of a future that's happy and promises a deep love for her.
I think you have to be fairly non-critical of Eva's centuries of experience to just blindly accept she falls in love for the first time ever in practically the blink of an eye. I think we accepted it mostly because we accepted that Negi was a pussy-magnet (because reasons), and it seemed Nagi kind of was, too.
I think this works better. Instead of Eva falling prey to the irresistible pussy magnets of the Springfield lineage just because that's what they do, she's been prepped ahead of time and taught love and hope at a point in her existence when this was still plausible.

Nagi was definitely a pussy magnet, sure, but that wasn't why she fell in love with him. She was treated like a monster for decades upon decades, and Nagi saves her life without second guess; that alone can make her like someone. And remember, she didn't fall in love on the spot, she and Nagi spent months together, where Nagi was nothing but nice to her. Despite her being treated by a monster by everyone else, Nagi was the only one who was kind and gave her hope for a better future.
>I think this works better. Instead of Eva falling prey to the irresistible pussy magnets of the Springfield lineage just because that's what they do, she's been prepped ahead of time and taught love and hope at a point in her existence when this was still plausible.
Nagi did literally the same thing as Touta, albeit a lot of it was off-screen. I'm just upset that Touta did almost a 1 for 1 of what Nagi did, but in the past. And remember, Tota did this just because he liked Eva, and knew nothing of her past. When Nagi did it, he knew she had killed people and was considered a monster. I simply think Nagi's was done better and first, but it ended up meaningless and retconed.
Just wait until the next Time Shenanigans reveals that Nagi treated her nicely because of advanced knowledge from the future, and that in the timeline where he wasn't told this he was a ruthless ass to her.
God, I made myself sad with that thought.
>I'm just upset that Touta did almost a 1 for 1 of what Nagi did, but in the past
Touta's general company and confession helped her in a much different way than Nagi's education and companionship did. Just knowing that a person could fall in love with her must have felt great, especially when she'd been constantly shunned and hunted by everyone else she'd met. Having someone accept her in such a way was a fairly large deal.
>Tota did this just because he liked Eva, and knew nothing of her past
While it was like that at first, even after he found out his feeling stayed the same.
