>>135835204 >Endured 26 episodes of incoherence dialogues and wtf pacing >Incest plot that doesn't go anywhere >Evil mastermind gets killed in the lamest way >Wait! Maybe the ending will be worth it just like Turn A >Nope
>>135835223 >Characters For starters we have Haruto, a strong brave pilot that delves into emotional struggle that is completely unavoidable and tries to make out despite the situation getting only worse. He ends up likable because he does all he can to further the plot or better himself and everyone cried when he died because he was such a good mc. Shouko is a smart little girl that only serves to be a plot device to make the show take an interestnig turn. L-Elf exists to "fix" the Module and move it along. Great character development and doesn't exit the show as he entered. The side characters are interesting stereotypes with good change, development, and impact on the plot. The villains are unpredictable, and interesting with great motivations other than being mustache twirlingly evil. >Plot Space vampire. If you don't know what is right with this already, you are an idiot. But aside from that lots happens and gets accomplished. >Animations Valvrave had great animation. The animation was fluid and sterile which didn't make everything come off as slow and sluggish and doesn't create a dissonance between the narrative and the animation. One of the perks of CGI animation is the abilitiy to pull off more interesting and/or difficult choreogrophy and cinematogrophy. Valvrave, infact, did so and utilized a dynamic camera with absolutely interesting compositions. >Music Filled with great singers such as Nana Mizuki, T.M Revolution and angela
Haruto constantly grows up, always changes, has impact on the main plot or rest of the cast, and is overall useful. And no this is not "common." The point of having a character start out weak is so they can grow and become strong. Shit character like Shinji remains the same whiny weakling that he entered the show as. Instead Haruto had development, constantly faced his problems and doesn't have to be forced into the plot and then be useless as someone else resolves it because he can't. His death is meaningful because he was a hero.
Now, I'll say that the high point of the show was Saki. I mean, I really, really liked Saki. She reminded me of the delicious cripple from Guilty Crown: She deserved a way better love interest than the one she actually got.
But I made my peace with the show because of the ending. Good lord, that ending. It's so mean-spirited that it crosses the line into hilarious.
All I really wanted to see was Haruto get killed, and I got that. I mean, this was an exceptionally terrible ending for the protagonists, and the dawn of a new age of small-minded superstition. (Also, heralded by the genocide of the Magus and the establishment of what is apparently an actual Nazi regime.)
I do think Haruto was actively trying to kill himself, however. He just couldn't deal with, you know, immortality and having to pilot a cool robot.
I mean, biting people isn't a big deal. L-Elf could power the entire band of Valvraves without significant degeneration. A single captive would last pretty long. If you didn't want to kill anyone, period, just spread it out amongst plenty of people!
>>135835074 Haruto actually wasn't a bad protagonist, he did the best he could, too bad he was butfucked in every single way possible. Are you telling me you would tell all your friends and people that treat you like an hero that you're a human-eating monster abomination?
>>135836589 Yes, because I'd have superpowers and they would love me. Haruto was just a whiny wimp and never took any initiative. The whole point of his character is that he is a useless idiot that hesitates and makes every purposefully wrong decision.
>>135836736 >>135836679 >Yes, because I'd have superpowers and they would love me. Are you kidding? They tried to lynch him when they knew, and they would have done it even if he said it earlier. There was a reason L-elf kept it a secret too.
This guy has it right. If an ordinary guy had superpowers, he'd be King Chad of Dick Alley. More, it's the grand prize of superpowers: Immortality, eternal youth, regeneration, bodyswitching, and a giant robot to go with it.
Do you know how HARD the girls in the class are going to want to fuck you? I mean, you don't even need to be amazing, you just need to be able to win fights in your absurdly overpowered robot. The moment you got out of the cockpit, people would be proclaiming you two-fisted kung fu Jesus, first of his name.
Don't bother with that shit. Just occasionally take one of the bad guys alive, and suck him dry like a two-bit Thai hooker. Then shoot him in the back of the head.
Like, the Valvrave squad kills hundreds of people over the course of the series. You're telling me they couldn't just grab one guy, make him their gimp?
Alternatively, get a girl into the whole vampire shit, and give her a few chomps. You can apparently get Runes from having incredible, mind-melting sex, right? If you're already a space vampire rapist wizard, you're going to have groupies. Just make sure one girl's doing a walk of shame for the next week, and you're good to go.
>>135837610 Because runes aren't only memories, Haruto started losing memories because he used every other type of runes. If Haruto kept on using him more than he did L-11 would have started losing memories too
>>135837888 >Haruto started losing memories because he used every other type of runes. No he started losing memories because the valvrave was using untested equipment that drained him like a sponge and he wasn't getting any runes from anyone.
I just found it bullshit that the guy genetically engineered to use VVV fell victim to it worse than the lab rat while everyone else was fine. Shouko getting eternal life without suffering pissed me off to no end. Saki being left alone was sad too and most importantly we don't get jack shit about what happens from when Haruto dies to 300 years later.
It's not a password. They're casting magic spells.
You see, the Magus are basically a nanomachine cloud. Their mana and the HP is the same thing. When Cain and what's-her-name are chanting, they're converting part of their nanomachines into whatever effect they want.
That's why Princess visibly 'shuts down' just before she falls to her death. She burnt up all her runes. That's what killed her, not the drop. It's why Haruto managed to light the flare when he and L-Elf were having waifu wars on the moon.
Technically, nanomachines can do anything. You're just burning up part of your 'soul' to do it, because Magus are 100% made of nanomachines. Even the Valvrave vampires are sentient nanomachine clouds inhabiting their now-imperishable bodies.
Hell, it's why Haruto and Mari died! Piloting the Valvrave constantly depletes their Runes, which means that it's burning up their nanomachines. They lose memories because part of their data is gone. You can't die from 'not having memories', you die because your consciousness is extinguished.
>>135838034 「ルーンを摂取する、という事は、正確はただの食事ではないのです」 "The act of taking Runes isn't the same thing as eating." 「じゃあ・・・・・・」 "You mean..." 「あなた方の言葉で言うと、セックスです」 "In the words you people use, it's called as 'sex'." 「セッ・・・・・・！？げじょっ、げじほ・・・・・・！」 "Sex!?! *cough, cough*" 何故か突然激しく咳き込んだ。どうしたんだろう？何か変な事を言っただろうか？ For some reason, he started coughing violently. I wonder why. Is there something strange in what I just said? "Originally, Runes aren't just for our consumption. We Magius exchange Runes and fuse the said Runes to produce a new individual for our kind. Isn't that the same as you humans call 'sex'?"
I like Haruto and think he was a good protagonist but I've learned arguing with /a/ (and for that matter /m/) about him is pointless, no one here actually cares anymore, they just want to rile people up.
What? I'm talking about the shit that went down in Dorssia. Either L-Elf declared himself God-Emperor, or A-Drei lead the Night of the Long Knives.
Did you miss the part where they went: > "Here's a list of Jew...I mean, VAMPIRES. Rapist space vampires." > "What, they're ALL space vampires? All of them are government figures!" > "Eh, better cack them all just to be sure."
I mean, even the Magus went:
> "Wow, shit, these humans are hardcore. I don't even KNOW the guys they're killing!"
Hell, the Magus in Dorssia were completely wiped out. Remember the part where there were actual lynch mobs? Or the scene where some people were standing knee-deep in hooded bodies?
Does this actually contradict anything? I mean, the Magius have to reproduce SOMEHOW, right? And since they're sentient nanomachine clouds anyway, the explanation that they...mingle their clouds...and create a new consciousness is one of the least crazy things I've heard so far.
Valvrave had; >"You're the cream to my coffee" line was the funniest and gayest line of the year >The best on-screen rape in a non-hentai show >The best female AI >The silliest plot (Space vampires and student-only country) >The most annoying MC >The best twist (Villain suddenly going full magic out of nowhere) >The dumbest princess in distress >No memorable mascot (robot, critter, etc)
If you watched this show expecting a serious mech series after seeing Haruto become a vampire, I feel sorry for you. I watched it for comedy and wasn't disappointed.
That was a really good rape. Like, you could see that Haruto was really getting into it. It wasn't that dramatic thing where they push the girl down and fondle her clothes open, he was literally ripping Saki's clothes off.
I give him a ten for effort. All his force was going somewhere.
They follow up that line with saying humans are the richest source of runes. Even Haruto's dad insisted Haruto should eat people. No one actually knew much of anything about runes and no one, not even L-elf or Kibukawa, gave Haruto the idea he could go for other sources.
>>135839303 They are spiritual beings. Lieselotte says this in the anime if you want to cry "not canon!" about the novel like a retard. They were not body snatchers, that's what they resorted to do on Earth to survive.
>>135839389 >Having sex with Saki You mean that pointless scene literally made only for shock value and then quickly and quietly swept under the rug and forgotten about. No he didn't get any runes from that scene.
>>135839557 >>135839481 Saki literally says "what we did worked, didn't it?" when she tried to do it with him again. He could have gotten the runes from her emotions or the mixing of bodily fluids. Whatever it was he definitely got runes from it because it stopped his attacks in the following episodes.
I love Shinji more than I care about Haruto, but this is false. Shinji is a whiny bitch who needed to end the fucking world to get over his issues of getting close to people and open up. He's a coward, who does what he's told because he wants his father's and everyone's approval. He's also apathetic and couldn't give a shit if the world ended as long as people caved to him. He even said so in episode 24.
Haruto meanwhile was selfless to the point of martyrhood in the end. He accepted he was going to burn and he decided to give up his entire self to love the world regardless if they are going to hurt him and betray him (which did happen until Shinji's fears and fantasies). He was able to open himself and trust L-Elf who had more issues than Rei, Misato and Asuka put together.
As a person, Haruto was way stronger than Shinji would ever dream of being. But Shinji is a great character while Haruto is more generic.
>>135839758 >and there is no actual evidence that it did
Are you literally this retarded? Haruto was starved of runes so bad he was having attacks every other moment, L-Elf even mentions it's happening more frequently, and they completely STOPPED for the remainder of S1 after he fucked her. It fucking worked.
>>135839748 Again there is no implication that he got any runes from it. All that happened was he tired himself out to the point of unconscious. There were no rune drain\gain effects or implications during or after that scene.
You know what's really weird? 90% of their manpower (heh heh heh) problems could've been resolved if they'd just got L-Elf a Kirschbaum.
Like, there's only one model of Kirschbaum, really. A-Drei and the Nazi boy band are piloting standard-issue robots, and we've already seen that any one of them is a match for a Valvrave. You'd think that they would just steal one for L-Elf, so he could fight Caine with Haruto.
>>135840006 Not like they ever had a chance, they were always in groups Saki had the chance but giving up on her Carmilla was dumb since she was already accustomed to it L-Elf could have done that in the finale but they were probably all dispatched in battle
>>135840073 >They are space vampires. They aren't. S2 made it very clear that the valvraves are just badly programmed gundams instead of magic robots and that the kids were just coordinators with a healing factor instead of vampires.
Technically, she wasn't Lieselotte, not really. She was the spirit that had possessed the loli princess and turned her into an empty shell. All the while, L-Elf was in love with something that was wearing her body.
Learn to infer. Do you need the writers to spell out everything for you? The implication it worked is there, plain as day. He stopped having attacks for the remainder of S1, that is a fact. Let me repeat, the REMAINDER of S1, are you seriously implying the writers re-wrote episodes 11 and 12 in a week because of a negative reaction? Stop being ridiculous for the sake of disagreeing.
>>135840132 >You realize they don't make the episodes from week to week right? If that leak was anything to go by then they actually did make them on a weakly basis and made up the story as they went along.
>>135840136 >Not like they ever had a chance, Except when they left the ship with literally tens of Kirschbaums with only two instead of an extra one for him when nothing in their plan required explicitly two.
I guess, but it would've been awesome if L-Elf just randomly showed up in a Kirschbaum painted in the Module's colors (Making him an 'unofficial' Holy Spirit or whatever stupid title they thought up) so he could help Haruto.
It's not a very compelling fight because L-Elf went "Look, Haruto - You're a shitty pilot. We're not going to win unless you're riding bitch, bitch. We need to GATTAI."
>>135840843 No they weren't. You don't send everyone at the same time. There were obviously some waiting there on standby that launched with A-Dreiand X-Eins. They could have replaced one of them with L-Elf.
I never understood why Haruto had so much useless stuff bolted onto his Valvrave. The design was ridiculously overcluttered. Personally, I liked Jewbro's Valvrave best: He had good shield and an AMAZING weapon.
Akira was the one with the best ability, but Thunder really got it in the shorts. He had, what, eight weak pistols and no defensibility? Meanwhile, the blue guy could fire off approximately ten ricocheting energy bolts with each shot.
>>135840903 Akira had a support rule for the most part, and I don't think she was that good on direct combat. Thunder was mostly raw firepower and little more. Jewbro died like a bitch to save dumb people asses, I'm still mad.
I don't even remember who this girl was, but I was hoping that it was the blonde, Takahi. That girl literally radiates the need for a good dicking every scene she's in. You can tell that she's dripping wet after Saki-as-Haruto flirts with her.
I mean, that STUCK. In the very next episode, she was wearing the slutty cheerleader outfit just for him.
>>135841075 Akira did have good direct combat capabilities. Thundet and Saki both got into the same number of bad situations but Thunder managed to pull himself out of half of them while Saki always needed rescue.
>>135840994 That's not why he shot Marie and it wasn't so simple as wanting to replace Haruto.
He didn't really hate them, but Lieselotte was still more important than them in his eyes, so he did anything to get to her, even if it meant hurting them. It was more of an indifference to them, I'm not saying he liked them either. Except Haruto.
Yeah, Akira's one was just broken. It's the universally useful one, since there was no apparent limit on her abilities. I'm actually quite disappointed at how quickly the machines got outstripped, really.
Haruto's one is basically a half-assed Gundam with a lot of hand weapons. What, a katana? Hand sickles? A fan that shoots laser beams? What the fuck is anyone supposed to do with that?
>>135840148 >able to help the royalists despite being a captive She didn't do anything >saved l-elf as a child Wow...its fucking nothing >is smart and knows cain is full of shit Nice fanfiction and even if this was true it doesn't mean anything >cockblocks cain by saving everyone and giving her life Which hilariousky enough doesn't effect her at all >Are you mistaking this with G-Reco or Aldnoah? Nah because in G-Reco Aida was an actual character and actually did shit even Asshime in all her shittiness did more than Lieselotte in the end even though both were poorly written plot devices.
But go ahead continue to defend VVV! Your stupidity amuses me.
>>135841235 It's canon that Haruto's machine was the most powerful, and one of the reasons why it drains his runes so much. It's also the only one (along with Cain's) with an original rave engine, the others are mirrors.
Besides raw power, though, Akira's Valvrave had the most broken tech.
>>135841484 >Haruto's machine was the most powerful, and one of the reasons why it drains his runes so much. 1.) Only Haruto's drains. None of the others do. 2.) It drained faster because of all the extra untested equipment slapped onto it that removed the safety limiter(overheating).
>>135841390 No one said he particularly liked any of them, but hate is a strong emotion, L-Elf never acted with hatred towards the students, because he didn't care about any of them enough to actually hate them. He acted with indifference, he saw them as pawns and nothing more. The only character who elicited strong emotions out of him was Haruto, which set him apart from the other students.
I was disappointed with all the wasted potential this show had. All the stuff about the magus/runes/vampires, the body switching, the valvrave project and the future parts were legitimately interesting. Also, I wish it was set at an actual Dyson Sphere instead of them just half-assing it.
>>135848303 >Wasn't he completely aware that Aina had no interest in him? No such thing. They even made fun of Jewbro trying to confess in one of the Summit dramas. Aina's ghost "rejected" him because she didn't want him to die, he said she told him "don't come here."
