Since today's shows won't start airing for quite a bit still.
Let's get another one of these /a/'s first impressions of the season so far.
>prince of stride
eh, average, not really into it, contemplating if i'll watch ep2 or not
yes, I didn't believe kyoani could find a way to lure me in but they did
it's really bad
10/10 music will follow just for that
pretty boring so far but I'll watch 3 episodes
rushed, hooray A-1, you can go fuck yourself. pretty disappointing
>ojisan to marshmallow
it's alright, Saya best girl
I'd say it's a pretty average start overall.
Only thing that's any good that aired so far is boku dake. The rest is garbage. The fact that your main issues with it stem from it being not like the manga in one way or another indicates to me that you have no idea what actually constitutes a good adaptation. A good adaptation is about taking existing material and finding the most compelling way to represent it in the new medium. A good adaptation has nothing to do with kn the other hand what it cut from the story. The aim is to make good anime not a good copy of the manga and at that the show is successful. Great adaptation.
Now listen here. I have already explained this once. A good adaptation has nothing to do with following the source material. A good adaptation is made by making something compelling in the target medium. Changes are not bad, 90% of the time bad adaptations are ones that do not change enough. Think about it this way, if changing the source material is bad inherently then shouldn't all good adaptations just be the manga panels in a slideshow? There is none of that animation in the manga, they are changing the story how awful. See how absurd it is? Changing things isn't a bad adaptation. You have to change things to make it successfully into a new medium, just in the same way you have to add animation to manga to make it into an anime.
I've just explained to you how there is nothing wrong with changes. The whole point of making an adaptation is to change it into something else. The fact that you complain it is different is what makes you quite frankly retarded.
Okay, now listen again.
>A good adaptation is made by making something compelling in the target medium.
It was not compelling as an anime episode.
It didn't change much.
But you could feel how uncomfortable it was in its struggle to pull through as much shit as they can.
It wasn't an enjoyable watch and it felt awkward in the direction.
I didn't like it as an adaptation.
It felt rushed, like I was watching it in double the speed.
It doesn't have to do anything with the manga being changed. It was different but it wasn't good at all.
There's prejudice of knowing what will happen but you can't do anything about that.
So if you claim that I don't know what a bad adaptation is you're just deluding yourself.
Or are you trying to say that you think it was an objectively good adaptation?
My post was subjective and I think it was bad.
>you have no idea what actually constitutes a good adaptation
so your initial response is already making no sense because
>A good adaptation is about taking existing material and finding the most compelling way to represent it in the new medium
This is exactly what the adaptation did not do. It tried to squeeze in as much as possible without trying to adapt it.
You either have no knowledge of the manga or just trolling if you really think it changed it for the new medium.
Only watched Phantom World and Active Raid so far. Phantom World was pretty boring but Active Raid gave me some Patlabor x Toku vibes which could turn out to be great. Also that music is god tier.
A shitty season. Nothing to watch except of the second cour of Utawarerumono and, probably Boku Dake.
Dagashi Kashi reminds me of Silver Spoon. I'm not fucking interesed in these sweets, give me more character interaction.
You're just arguing in broad strokes by change is not necessarily bad for an adaptation, which I can agree with.
But maybe you should explain why rushing through all that material was good for the anime.
>This is exactly what the adaptation did not do.
Yes it did, the episode was extremely compelling, the majority of posters had positive opinions of the first episode, found the story interesting and wanted to see more, the definition of compelling. The only small portion of people I have seen complaining are manga readers and thats because "muh changes" just like you.
You realise that "rushing" through a story is changing it right? You can tell a story about eating an ice cream in a park over 5 pages or 100 pages and those a clearly very different stories. One will be full of lucid description and details. The other will be brief and to the point. They can tell all the same main plot events still but the story is definitely changed.
This is the worst season in recent memory, by FAR. Shitty fucking shows and over half of them are Funi or Hulu.
Dagashi is going to be this seasons Sakurako-San - An anime everyone hypes up because of the characters (specifically the female ones) only to find out the premise is boring as shit and drowns out any character development.
You'll have fags coming in saying "Does MC win the Hotaru/Saya bowl?" only to be responded with "No, fuck off, and I for one am glad because romance is shit and I have amazing taste by hating romance".
By the time the anime reaches halfway, it'll be completely forgotten aside from a handful of 'LE HOTARU ON THE FRONT PAGE' meme threads.
And yet all those memes about how 2015 was the worst year ever, despite all the great or at least good shows during the year, and how 2016 would be "amazing". Retards, shitposters, and memeposters will keep saying this crap time and time again.
I liked Boku Dake, don't know shit about the source so I can enjoy it unbiased like the happy secondary I am.
Luck & Logic seems interesting if I overlook MC who is irritating as fuck.
Dagashi Kashi seems like fun but I get bored at times because I don't catch parts of the humour but I'll keep looking for now because Saya is best girl indeed, cutest design of the season so far.
It's only been two days. Better stuff is airing later.
You guys know how people ALWAYS say the upcoming season will be the absolute worst?
Well this time it's for real. Literally only like 2-3 real good shows, a few average ones, and the rest is just trash. Basically the backlog season.
>no katawa shojo anime
>2-3 real good shows
you need to get better taste. the only things that could even remotely be described as "good" this season is shorts.
This season has barely started you idiot.
if you don't shut up i'm gonna kiss you in the fucking mouth
These are the ones I've watched so far and I can safely say that the majority of them are absolute shit.
Haruchika, Boku dake, AssClass S2, Phantom world, girls beyond the wasteland, active raid.
Probably going to watch a lot more like dimension w, drrr, divine gate, ajin I'm seriously just waiting to be disappointed
Liked - Boku Dake, Prince of Stride
Neutral - Musaigen,Shoujo Taichi,Haruchika
Disliked - Active Raid
The neutrals I'm willing to give a few episodes and see where they go but Active Raid, I just didn't like the characters and it kinda bored me.
This is literally the only show I plan on watching right now. Everything else just seems meh.
Boku Dake ga Inai Machi and Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu are the only ones that seem interesting. Sekkou Boys might be funny so will try it out.
Are there any other shows that are worth watching for someone who's taste isn't totally shit?
Boku Dake's been my favorite so far.
I'm looking foward to a few others like Shirayuki-hime, and Haikyuu is probably going to continue to be fantastic.
I'm looking foward to
Grimgarbecause it's being directed the director of Mouryou no hakoand I really hope it isn't a SAO clone.
>Prince of Stride
Downloading Ass class and Active raid.
There is no way we have spicy wolf s3. God isn't that kind. This MUST be fake.
Watching for DGK and PSO2 even though it WILL be trash but I grew up playing pso so I am filthy biased trash who will love it. They could do 13 eps of androids (as long as they are all female) robot shitting into other androids and I would still love it.
Where's me monmusu 2 DAMNIT
I read the manga for boku dachi and they only cut the unnecessary shit but one thing that i felt shouldn't have been cut was when he actually tried to save his mum but in the anime made him seem like some prick just running away from the cops like that.
How has Daga Shikashi not been subbed yet?
Boku Dake had the best first episode by FAR, That shit was great.
>Prince of Stride
The beginning was kind of annoying, but the race was more fun than expected
It's alright, but not sure if I'll keep watching
Just barely finished season 1 without dropping it and picked up the 2nd season on a whim, will probably drop this after 3 episodes.
The highest hope I have for this season is for Sekkou Boys to be at least a little funny. And maybe some good /his/ jokes.
>Prince of Stride
Eh, it was fine. I had very little expectations of it and had fun. I'm not sure if I'll continue watching it.
I disliked the pandering but the episode was good. Best new thing I've watched so far and I'm not a Kyoani kind of anon.
>Old Guy and Fluffy Candy
I'm with you, it was pretty cute. More not-so-subtle have more babies propaganda. I'm all for it.
>Active Raid had the best episode so far.
Really? I had hopes for it but I thought the episode was really lackluster. It just seemed bland and generic and shitty to me. I'll stick with it for at least the first three, but I was disappointed. OP is particularly terrible, too.
Boku Dake ga Inai Machi was best first episode so far by a long shot.
>spicy wolf s3
Why do you have to ruin what could be a fun monster hunting show with over the top fan service? Some fan service I can accept, but the entire episode was soft core porn. Just go watch the real thing, you're wasting your time and that of those who want an actual show.
Half of the episode was a girl with gigantic breasts bouncing them up and down to play limbo. Fan service was a central part of the plot. She uses her powers by squeezing and rubbing her tits. Did you play the episode with your eyes closed?
My impressions so far
>Prince of Stride
Meh. It's probably the first show I'll drop if something better comes along. It's fujoshit, it feels like an uninspired harem with the roles reversed. If nothing better happens it's worth keeping around though.
>Musaigen no Phantom World
Another candidate for dropping. It's better than Prince of Stride, but it's still boring and uninspired
It's funny, I guess. It's also short enough to remain on my list.
>Ojisan to Marshmallow
Already cutest show of the season and pretty funny too. It's a keeper.
The most interesting anime this season, so far at least.
That's all I've watched. So the only things I'd actually call good this season are BokuMachi and Ojisan to Marshmallow. Sekkou Boys is supposed to air later today so maybe that changes things up.
Hipster here, i found ojisan to marshmallow to have the best episode 1 even though most of /a/ choose Phantom World as the best. Active raid is quite watchable though i might drop it if it doesn't satisfy with my autism. Although it hasn't aired, ill keep bahamut as my compulsory SINGLE haremshit per season.
Tit bouncing part was literally about 10 seconds, and she uses her powers by drawing ki energy or whatever from the associated chakra on her body for each element into her hands, (yes, effectively it involves rubbing her tits for that one scene, but still).
I didn't find it distracting at all. There was no nudity or even panty shots. Go the fuck back to tumblr, feminazi.
Either way, if you are so fucking triggered by fanservice, why the fuck are you watching a fantasy battle harem? Or watching anime at all?
More like retard there.
Most of /a/ found ojisan to be the best first episode.
Most of /a/ shits all over musaigen.
You can't even get a single thing right when shitposting, kill yourself.
I'm really liking Dagashi Kashi so far. It's nice to see a show once in a while where the characters aren't autistic and embarrassed all of the time. Seasoned anons with high SoL power levels should enjoy this one.
Active Raid - Very boring first episode 4-5/10.
AssClass S2 - Same as S1 above average 6/10.
Boku dake ga Inai Machi - Easily the best start this season, currently a 7/10 could be good enough to get an 8/10 if they don't fuck it up.
Haruchika - Mediocre,PA Works ain't even trying with this one,too busy prioritizing Kuromukuro.
Musaigen no Phantom World - Mediocre, bouncy tits.
Sure she's K.Y. as fuck, but she's not the perpetually embarrassed, stuttering, socially inept type. So far the characters have just acted retarded and had fun, with the MC as the only sober person at the party. It's not unheard of or anything, but it doesn't happen all too often that most characters in a show are this unembarrassed.
>They're adapting Schearzesmarken man.
I'm entirely new to Muv Luv. Can I watch/understand/follow Schärzesmarken without any prior knowledge of the Muv Luv franchise, or is some knowledge going in required?
Well it's a stand alone side story but you might get confused about the u universe a bit. I suggest you to finish the original trilogy before getting in to it but you can still watch it.
Most interesting show so far.
>prince of stride
Pretty gay but the race portions were cool. I'll keep watching for more I guess.
Really stupid but I liked it a lot.
Meh. The girl is cute but that's all its got going for it. Dropped.
Boring mecha crap. Also there was a lot of engrish for some reason
It was cute but I dropped it when I found out how it ends.
>when I found out how it ends.
Oh god I'm curious.
Is it NTR? Please be NTR
Okay, nothing special but it's nice to look at
Enjoyable but probably forgettable in the long run.
Shit. Worst of the reason.
Cheesy and it knows it, probably the best of the season so far.
The girls are cute and it seems HanaKana has learned how to do more than 2 voices, shame it won't cover the second half of the VN though.
It's A-1 and the manga wasn't even good to begin with, not even picking it up.
>ojisan to marshmallow
Haven't tried it yet.
MMO adaptation? Focused on generic highschoolers playing it rather than using the in game universe to tell a story? Yeah I'm not even giving it a chance.
All of the stuff I'm really looking forward to hasn't aired yet so it's still too early to judge the season.
Kyoani finds a way, as always.
Will most likely drop for the manga
Completely mediocre first episode.
Yeah, I'm a near-blind 480p normie and even I'm noticing the QUALITY this season.
>rushed, hooray A-1, you can go fuck yourself. pretty disappointing
Wut, this is easily the best I've seen so far in this season. I went in blind and holy shit it's damn good.
Well that's because you went in blindly.
If you know that there was a scene change and how much better it was handled and paced overall in the manga you would be upset.
Because they fucked it up.
It's weird how people keep complaining about the fanservice when it was relatively tame compared to what other series do. Call me if they show a pantyshot, then we're talking.
But it's perfect as far as anime goes. I'd agree with you if it was bad but it turned out perfectly. I read the manga after that and sure it was handled better but I can't say the anime is bad by any means.
Still rushing is expected since A-1 pretends to adapt all of the manga and even the end, so they'll skip/rush/rewrite a bit to fit those 12 episodes.
>surprisingly the new Kyoani show is the most uninteresting of the bunch
Honestly it's not, I agree their anime looks beautiful but everything they put out is garbage. KyoAni is exactly what you'd call moeshit, because it's moe for the sake of moe. Having cute girls is good, having several anime focused on cute girls it's just plain garbage.
I'm fine with cute girls doing cute things but the show just felt like the beginning of a battle harem with no life at all nor any effort
It just kind of happened, boku dake had a way more interesting first episode but I can't really judge any of these until like 3 episodes. At least it looks good amirite
I didn't feel Active Raid was "generic" since we don't get a lot of anime in this style. It is a genre piece, however, since it's very Toku. I do agree about the OP, but I enjoyed the wackiness, though I suppose it will calm down slightly in the coming weeks.
It's actually good that the industry is starting to realize this, though. A poorly animated show with a great story is much better than a well-animated show with a retarded story.
I liked it quite a bit. It's got a nice understated quality to it, especially the visuals.
I want to like this because Reiko & PA Works. The first episode was a little uninteresting though. Mysteries are better when there's some chance of being able to figure them out yourself. I don't know Japanese or musical notation so I couldn't really do much more than wait for them to explain it. Hopefully there's a little more intrigue in the next episodes.
I would like to watch this because it's an anime original, but the first episode was just kind of stupid and made me not care what happens next.
>Ojisan to Marshmallow
There's something very strange going on in this anime and I love that. The subversion of her saying he had to ask in order to get what he wanted, and her obviously speaking to him in some kind of coded language, was a clever juxtaposition. Also I didn't know fat men could be so moe.
Looking forward to the subs because I like the character designs and the art style.
I don't really need to watch this, I'll just let /a/ spam threads about the most interesting parts and see that on the catalog. Apparently episode 1 was her rubbing her tits and bouncing them under a cord. And if I understand right she has magic powers that she has to rub her boobs to active. Thanks KyoAni.
Boku Dake was the only anime that aired where I didn't pause the episode to shitpost on /a/ at all.
Everything else was meh as fuck, especially Active Raid.
>I would like to watch this because it's an anime original, but the first episode was just kind of stupid and made me not care what happens next.
Well, it's an action comedy. Those are usually "stupid" to say the least.
>I liked it quite a bit. It's got a nice understated quality to it, especially the visuals.
Yeah, probably the best show so far.
>Looking forward to the subs because I like the character designs and the art style.
If I watch it, those would be the only reasons.
