Kizu's out in Japan now
nips calling it Sakamoto's finest performance
So with Part 2 coming out in cinemas as soon as summer I am guessing we will not have to wait the usual feature film long cycle for the BD.
Good news for those of us unlucky enough to live in areas where there are no screenings.
Just saw it. Not going again but I will buy the disc.
Kiss-shot's entrance scene was left me a bit scared, it was pretty horror. Waiting 'til summer is gonna suck.
They were right to leave out the monologuing.
Actually they aren't really needed in the rest of the series either.
(the guy who thought it jumped around a lot)
Without the monologues, Araragi's emotional changes do feel sudden, don't they?
Araragi's monologuing in Bake ep 1 gives me goosebumps.
Guess I'll have to learn Italian before the next part.
63 minutes is way short I thought, but it was so rich I was left feeling full.
"Nekketsu-hen opens this summer." So some time around November, then?
The text cut-ins did a good job at explaining and expanding things in lieu of the monologues.
Though, the French and Morse code is probably a bit harsh for a first watch.
It was early morning but the theater was 70% full.
8:2 male-female ratio, youngest was teens oldest I saw someone who looked in his/her 50s.
Based old people, also I still hope he is still alive.
>the French and Morse code is probably a bit harsh
You've done it again, Shinbou, you beautiful bastard.
>Guess I'll have to learn Italian before the next part.
>Though, the French and Morse code is probably a bit harsh for a first watch.7
they are probably talking about this part?
>They were right to leave out the monologuing.
>Actually they aren't really needed in the rest of the series either.
I can't wait, I have a hard on for SHAFT visual narration.
>SHAFT lickers praise dialogue to no end in the Bake series
>SHAFT axes dialogues
>SHAFT lickers praise SHAFT for getting rid of dialogues
Repost from the preceding thread about why no Shinobu OP:
Sakamoto: [laughter] [...] I'm old-fashioned - I don't want my work as a voice actress to get mixed up with my singing.
—What exactly do you mean by that?
Sakamoto: To me, my job as a singer is not so much a job, as it is a way of expressing myself - which is why I should write my own lyrics and sing under my own name. That's why, as a rule, I don't sing character songs.
Can anyone verify?
Man, someone post this pic but with Disappearance's camrip.
>That's why, as a rule, I don't sing character songs.
That's why, as a rule, you're full of shit because you've definitely sung in-character before, Maaya Sakamoto.
That quote is real, though, anon.
I haven't read the novel but did it have the Morse code in it?
If were talking things that can't be aired on TV, the seal penis from Yaruki Manman showed up when Araragi, excited by Hanekawa's panties, went to go buy porno.
I wonder if they got permission for that.
It looked similar enough that you couldn't really get away with just calling it a parody.
I hardly thought "this looks amazing"
Though there was a few parts drawn cute, or pretty.
It may have been more than TV quality
but I didn't feel it was up to theater level.
The script, the acting, the placement of time were all somehow a little off in a lot of scenes, and the pace wasn't very good.
I couldn't help but think they sacrificed the first part
in order to make it a three-parter.
If you couldn't think so from that, then there is something seriously wrong with your film-watching eyes.
>but did it have the Morse code in it
You're the dumbass here. How are they different? What, the difference is that it gets credited to "Character's name (CV: Singer's name)" instead of "Singer's name"? Wow! What could possibly be stopping her from singing the OP to a Shinobu arc as Maaya Sakamoto with lyrics from Shinobu's point of view? She has done songs for shows she's in that are clearly in-character before.
'Sauga here boys.
But a light train ride up to Toronto so no biggie family.
>What, the difference is that it gets credited to "Character's name (CV: Singer's name)" instead of "Singer's name"?
Kek, not even. A character song is something that is sold and created as a separate tie-in marketing item to the show. It's basically a cash-grab, and is different than an insert song.
I don't know many but most recently she's done two songs for Akito the Exiled with lyrics that sound like they're from the PoV of the main character she plays in the series, Leila.
An OP isn't the same as a character song though. And she hasn't done any character songs.
Also the quote here >>135820645 isn't about why she hasn't done an OP, but why she hasn't done a character songs. The -gatari OPs happen to be essentially character songs so it could explain her reluctance. If they made an impersonal one, then maybe she'd do it?
kaka, monogatari still carry on the french new wave influences.
It doesn't matter because you're going to have everyone in Ontario in the Y&D theater. Especially if they're giving anything out for the movies.
Did they give anything out in Japan?
>If they made an impersonal one, then maybe she'd do it?
I see no reason why they would be okay with just throwing in an instrumentals-only OP but not letting Maaya Sakamoto do an impersonal song for it.
I think in the previous thread someone mentioned all the hunters - not just guillotine cutter - spoke in gibberish marsspeak
Im guessing the italian and morse are for the "xxx frame" screens which someone else mentioned were in french
OP =/= character song.
Maaya Sakamoto's done OPs for Soremachi and Koufuku Graffiti, both of which are Shaft productions.
The best you can hope for is a non-character song OP for one of the Kizu movies. Shinobu's voice is too different from her singing voice to make a good song anyway.
As, anon said, that's not what an image/character song is. They also aren't sung directly by Leila, either.
An image/character song is like sidestory material, but in music form.
>otakus care about purity
>they buy scat, guro and ntr doujins
Jesus fucking christ, decide on whether character songs are songs that get credited to the character or if they're songs that get released standalone as side material to milk a show. If it's the former there's no goddamn reason they couldn't just credit it to Maaya Sakamoto and not Shinobu for Shinobu arcs and if it's the latter it "has nothing to do Monogatari OPs".
They are though, but they're a little less traditional than a normal image song, but the fact that they make several OPs per show and sell each of them as singles illustrates that it's designed to be marketed first, artistry second.
Character songs are songs that are sung in-character and credited to the character. It's pointless for her to sing an OP if she's not gonna sing in character. She could do a not-on-character version of the OPs like Kogarashi Sentiment had, but the actual OPs are supposed to be in-character.
>nips calling it Sakamoto's finest performance
One nip. On 2channel. If you take that seriously you are an idiot.
The hell does Araragi think he is, burying his face in that chest so nonchalantly
Though, well, I guess he was sticking out his neck at the time.
The thoroughness of the depictions was just amazing.
Thanks to that I empathized with Koyomi the whole way through. Watching his encounter scene my breathing even got shallower.
Maybe because they made it a trilogy, but the scenes in the first half were long and dull, and it ended right before getting good, honestly it was questionable.
Though Nekketsu-hen in that quality sounds amazingly awesome.
"We put our efforts into the fights, so the quality went down (in general)"
Or something like that lol
Done with my second watch.
The sound effects were a bit cheap but that was good in its own way.
Like the scene where he strokes her head for example.
Lyrically, her OPs are usually unrelated to the show, whereas the Monogatari OPs are more closely related to the subject matter of the arc.
All of Sakamoto's Shaft OPs have just been generic J-Pop tunes and little else; her Soremachi OP was actually a cover of a song from the 60s.
Right, she's just an enlightened artist doing it for the craft and her label is the evil means to it that has to release her OPs as singles but the moment it were for Monogatari then it's just too commercial she can't do it.
>The hell does Araragi think he is, burying his face in that chest so nonchalantly
Nah, I'm in the last row so didn't smell anything.
Enough to worth 4 years wait.
Around 20~40 from memory. But thanks to cast greeting for the first round, ratio of men to women is about 6:4 (but then I didn't pay much attention to the audience).
>"Nekketsu-hen opens this summer." So some time around November, then?
I didn't read Japanese reviews (yet), but I'm very glad that I fly here to watch it. Basically it's what we've seen in PV. Lots of amazing animation, no monologue, backgrounds all hyperreal 3D (but very well matched with the character movements.)
I think they use 3DCG for character in only single scene. But it was very hard to tell. Everything else related to characters are all 2D animation.
Kissshot scene in the underground subway is VERY scary despite the scene being really bright.
Erm, hard to say. Show them first few minutes of Bake ep1 and if they like it, it's likely that they'd like Kizu too.
Yup. It's a movie screening + mini cast event of sort. (舞台挨拶). I'm lucky enough to grab a ticket before it was sold out (it sold out in 3 minutes).
There're total of 4 casts in Kizu 1… so literally all casts came.
She only did one song for Akito.
Also, it wouldn't be a stretch to say she's singing that song to herself as a sort of detached observer. "She" could (and most likely is) singing them to Akito, but if you take a step back it's actually a clever song.
Also, I know at least one of the Bakemonogatri OPs shows a character's lips singing the song for a couple seconds.
>so literally all casts came.
I am so jelly right now.
Didn't remembered that he did. But he did said "This year is 2012."
French text appeared when Arararararagi try to go under the sun. Morse code was when he follow Kissshot's blood into a subway and met her for the first time. (I think it's SOS)
Damnit, I guess that means I'll have to brave the throngs of autistic weeaboos and see this in the US.
Hopefully they're doing a showing in
>"This year is 2012."
Kamiyan you bastard
Also do you think they save better scenes for the fights in the second movie? people on 2chan are saying the first part was dull
And how cute was kisshot in her 10 year old form?
>They were right to leave out the monologuing.
>Actually they aren't really needed in the rest of the series either.
Literally 90% of monogatari is gone and would be boring as fuck.

I'm feeling the urge to kill.
All that I`m really getting from this line of discussion is that it`s not really a matter of artistic integrity or selling out, so much as Sakamoto just saying "I don`t wanna" because of some minor difference in perspective.
I think they're saving the fighting scene for the second movie. The first one's highlight is the burning scene and the subway scene (where Araragi meet Kissshot), IMHO.
Kissshot is way too cute.
>Kissshot is way too cute
The lack of monologues make it feel different from the other titles of the series? Do you think Oishi did a good job even though it took him years to finish the damn storyboard?
Can't really disagree with that. I don't see why they don't just let her write an impersonal OP for the arc. Maybe Shaft doesn't want to break their theme of "sung by characters" if there's gonna be singing.
So, when everything's on BD and ripped and encoded and subtitled and uploaded to nyaa, should I watch this after Bakemonogatari like the order the novels were released, or should I watch this after Owarimonogatari since that's the release order for the anime?
I actually like the lack of monologue better, but I feel it's going to be somewhat hard to follow for those who never read the novel before.
Oishi definitely did a good job. Kamiya also mentioned that the scene where Araragi try to get out to sunlight will have to be cut (either all or by a lot) if they were going to make this single movie (it was Shinbo who mentioned this to Kamiya).
I also really like "trying to get to sunlight" scene, as it's done solely with breathing sound, yet able to give so much impression to viewer that something really really bad is going to happen. Think Walpurgis scene in beginning of Madoka episode 1, but 10 times that.
Overall, I think Oishi is questioning himself how would he make Bake direction style worth the theatre screen, and the result is Kizu. And he definitely succeeded.
Did the OPs for Shinobu Time or Shinobu Mail count as "sung by the characters"? Obviously, there`s the difference in the voice, but what about the actualy lyrical content? I haven`t been able to find a translation for Mein Schatz, so I`m stuck in the dark on that one...
Except in this case there are several different release orders to consider.
Same with Haruhi. Do you mean weird out of order airing order? Airing order with the second season interspersed (i.e. chronological)? LN order (also chronological)?
Yes. I've been waiting for Kizu.
Watch it after Monogatari Series Second Season. You can watch it after Owari Part 1 I guess but that's unnecessary but I think it's better if you don't watch it before Monogatari Series SS.
I think that`s bullshit. Kizu was supposed to come out way earlier, and was the third novel released, anyway, so in order for Nise to make sense, I think belongs between Bake and Nise.
Wo that sounds great, too bad they can't do that with whats's left of the series, based Oishi
Oh yeah now that you mention sound, people talk about how sound was kinda cheap?
Anon now you have to wait for Wazamonogatari the latest novel that is going to be release in January 15 and that is before Kizu chronological, probably adaptation until 2020
Did they insert parts into Kizu that weren't in the LN that depend on SS plot points?
I'm aware of that. Kizu never turned into Kizu at some indeterminate point in the near-ish future though, so it's not as bad.
I don't know how to put it. But it's definitely not like the TV series. Think the first Kizu PV (head popping off) and second Kizu PV. The whole BGM and sound effect are in that tone.
If you're going to put Kizu in novel order you may as well put Hana in novel order too. And what in the hell are you doing to season three? It goes Tsuki -> Koyomi -> Owari 1, 2, 3 -> ZokuOwari
No, SS just alludes to Kizu so much that I think it would be good for you to go through the typical anime viewer experience of having seen it without watching Kizu and then rewatching it later having seen Kizu to get the experience people who had read Kizu did. You can get both experiences this way, if you watch Kizu before SS you only get one of them.
Yes he's back. Just the direction of the BGM is different than the TV series. It's well matched IMHO.
I'd give Maaya a full 10. Her beg-for-life acting is REALLY amazing. It gives me shivers just to think about it. I feel it's a little hard for Kamiya to "reset" his role from pervert Araragi to hate-this-world Araragi, so his acting feel a little out of place in few scene. Takahiro is pretty much the same stuff as TV.
Thank fuck it wasn't. She's not that great.
Kizu novel was released before Nise.
Hana novel was released before Otori.
Koyomi novel was released before Owari 1.
Other than those three exceptions, anime order has been exactly the same as novel order.
After encounter with Vampire Hunters, when Araragi & Kisshot make contract with Oshino (to have him help and to pay him in return). Feel kinda weird that they cut it right here.
Why is this still not on Nyaa? Fucking lazy ass japs man, hurry up you cunts
Does shinobu ever looks like this design from the first pv, in the film.
Yeah I could her her 嫌だ、嫌だ、嫌だよお……、死にたくない、死にたくない、in the PV
From everything you've said sounds really good and worth the wait
Do you think the hype for the movie will last the rest of the year?
Also yeah people said it felt cut of, but how so? they show the vamp hunters and that's it?
Also was there OP? or what was that shabadabada with Kamiyan in the PV1 and the new PVs? or was it the ED?
I fucked up sorry: my.mixtape.moe/zmniea.mp3
Nah, much cuter.
I'm damn sure that Kizu Ouen (the guy who draw >>135823325) is one of the staff, because "his" 10 years old Kissshot is basically what was in the movie
Probably hard to keep the hype throughout the year. The movie is only 1 hour and its content is more of a "episode 1" than anything. They show Vampire Hunters, Oshino stopped them, go to meet Kissshot, Oshino ask for 2 millions (was it?) to help, Kissshot agrees. Oshino make some remark and it just end.
But then there's Koyomimonogatari broadcasting today. Maybe it could.

Where you at
Come fig shopping with me this weekend, I want to talk about monogatari banter
So the book is out of stock everywhere, Bake when?
Kiss-shot's plan is to trick Araragi into killing her, restoring his humanity and succeeding in her goal of suicide.
Hanekawa sees through this and reveals it to Araragi right before he kills her. Araragi begs Oshino for a solution, he tells him to almost kill her, draining her of most of her vampireness, leading to her state and his aftereffects in Bakemonogatari.
I've been asking everywhere to no avail
KizuNever dev here, any translators want to help? We got the scripts for all the Nisemonogatari commentaries
I was afraid that this was going to be a problem. I sort of knew that the first movie was going to be the worst one but i thought that they would at least have the Dramaturgy fight to make up for it.
Now that we know the first movie has no fights i can see why people aren't as hyped as they should be.
Still, this means that the next two movies are going to be pretty legit.
Though i do agree, it shouldn't have been a trilogy
He's probably lying and recently got into the series within the last year. If he'd been browsing these threads for four years it would be literally impossible to stay away from kizu spoilers.
Is this some kinda subtle joke? No one could possibly mix up sites that are in two different languages.
>UK always gets shafted when it comes to anime films
>subs are in a language I can't understand
I think the sweet spot is around 55 pages / episode (though I like how closely Koi was adapted, I think Nise 1 was stretched out too long). Of course it's all different when it comes to a movie.
I enjoy Shinobu doujinshi because I always get frustrated at how the author handles her character, and the ones that actually do a decent job are usually too funny to fap to.
I read the novel so i'm not disappointed. I was just a little sad that there were regular moviegoers who weren't too impressed with it. Especially since it gets really good later on
>the uploader has not made this video available in your country
Why are aniplex such retards.
I got into Monogatari in 2012 and started going to /a/ in 2013. I don't browse Monogatari threads that much but yes I've avoided Kizu spoilers. I've had had parts of other -monogatari titles spoiled before they aired, though.
I"m in the same boat. I watched Bake only a year ago. I'm not even caught up with the series and I've remained unspoiled. I just hope spoilers don't pop up everywhere as I'll most likely end up seeing it in theaters. Love having an Alamo Draft House not too far from where I live.
I normally do some basic research before watching a movie, and it seems especially prudent in the case of a foreign cartoon you've never heard of. That said, if people put that much thought into their actions they wouldn't be normies.
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if people in the west go watch it without even knowing it'll be in japanese.
Man, I sure hope so. Loved reading that shit.
>Which panty scene?
The panty scene and the one in the PE shed were really fucking great, would be a shame if they cut those.

I don't normally use baidu, but don't think there's anything there.
That's not the baidu you need.
pan.baidu / share /......
it's in a private folder for movies if you know which one it is then you know the pass too so good luck.
Literally SEARCHING through a public service for a movie that just came out is already peak of retardation so I don't think you'll need any luck.
when will you guys admit your seiyuu a shit? even Aya Hirano still does songs for her fans even though there's no fame it anymore, a whole lot done for a supposed dead seiyuu then ones that's supposed to be an "A-lister"
Dunno man, I don't think she'd be able to pull off the more menacing scenes like pic related.
How do i navigate through the Koyomi app? I don't know how to read moonrunes, and i got a notification from the app. Maybe the first "episode" is up already?
It`s too important to just discard. Considering the person Araragi was right then, that was the most probable way that he would have ever gotten to know Hanekawa, and with that, he never would have made it to Bake.
I thought it was when she started to talk about Vampire rumor that got Araragi thrown into it. Plus started the whole thing where every time Araragi goes to get an eroge, he ends up in a fucked up situation afterwards.
Problem is that every Monogatari OP is a character song by default. At best they might get an ED out of her, but not an OP.
What does singing have to do with seiyuu?
They can give it a nod in the form of animation. Believe it or not the story is not substantially detrimented by Araragi not going on a 5 minute monologue about panties in an anime adaptation, and the fact that you even know it exists to complain about it means you really shouldn't care if it's there anyway. It's not even the same medium anyway.
You will make it anon. YOU WILL MAKE IT.
It doesn`t have to be the original 4 page equivalent, especially since they`re not in his mind like the LN, and they already did it justice with the Bake prologue. But it`s still a key plot point for the arc and defining characteristic for Koyomi himself.
Because nothing happened? Because it was almost entirely composed of exposition? Because it ended with introducing and then killing a specialist in the span of like one chapter?
Tsuki was a clusterfuck, and I say that as a person who likes pretty much every character involved with it.
SS production schedule must have been hell. SHAFT trying to do a 2-cour was a recipe for disaster from the start. And one of my favorite scenes is forever tainted by ultra low quality CGI snakes.
The train scene made up Tsuki for me. Getting Araragi to admit that he'd become a vampire to protect those around him showed how much he's changed as a character since Kizu. It was also nice to see Shinobu back Araragi up.
People have been pointing out that Araragi's situation is fucked up since Nise. Tsuki brought nothing whatsoever to the table and only spoonfed incredibly obvious plot details to people who apparently weren't paying attention for the entire series prior.
Hana was really beautiful, but the basketball needed serious work. It's been way too long since we've gotten an extended sakuga scene.
>tfw the only sakuga in all of owari is kokorowatari flying down and splitting the shinai.
wow, I didn't think anyone would remember this, or even care enough to bring it up again.
I've been busy with other stuff (I kind of let everything die), but I'll work on getting something up for kizu.
I've read other Monogatari novels so it's not like I'm against reading itself but I really just want this movie to be my first experience with Kizu and considering I could've given in and read the novel any time in the last few years when the movie ever coming out seemed bleak, I'm definitely not giving in now that it has finally come out.
Yoh Yoshinari and Kou Yoshinari worked on Kizu
>Though, the French and Morse code is probably a bit harsh for a first watch.
The absolute madmen.
That's a really limited sample, but it's more or less what I'd expect from Hirano. She'd probably be better at expressing Shinobu's childish aspects and general high-pitch banter, while Maaya is better at expressing her mature side (especially older forms).
That said, as someone who predominantly loves Shinobu for her maturity, I'm glad we got Maaya. Also I feel like Aya goes pretty overboard with the childishness in this case.
How do you genuinely remember all the events from like fucking Bake, Nise or Neko
That was time ago, I legitimately couldn't pinpoint what each episode entailed yet some of you know all this shit like the back of your hands
The themes in Nise make sense but they aren't given a context other than people repeatedly restating them. In most other arcs the practical meaning of the themes are communicated through the events of the arc.
Probably, especially if those rumors of it having never been meant to be released are to be believed. I mean I appreciate what things Nise introduced that got expanded upon later, but over all it was okay.
No, it was always meant to be released. If you read the atogaki in context with all the others Nise isn't actually particularly non-canonical.
Those quotes were repurposed by Nise apologists, it's just a convenient excuse people like to come up with for the poor writing in Nise.
SHAFT also is to blame to an extent, they cut a few scenes that would have helped somewhat.
Since i feel the Kizu hype i uploaded best girl song for you guys, since it is nowhere else on the net.
Ah I see. Which scenes were cut out in particular? I never read the Nise novels because because it's my least favorite part over all. Mostly watch the anime if I ever wanna revisit Nise.
Just came back from watching it, I'm not really a big monogatari fan or anything but it was a 5/10 movie to be honest. There were some nice moments and Shaft have really upped their game in terms of animation but overall it just felt boring and the trademark monogatari series fun dialogue was painfully lacking. Also asking full admission price for a 60 minute movie is a bit much.
>-No new songs from Mayaa
How many more times do we have to go through this? Maaya Sakamoto is contracted for singing to JVC. That means she can only sing when JVC or one of their subsidiaries (usually Flying Dog) is on the production committee. This is why she could sing on the SHAFT production of Koufuku Graffiti, for example. And she refuses to do character songs anyway.
I'm the guy who did Princess Beauty and the first Koi commentary some time ago. I would love to help, but I'm busy with stuff for a few months. If you haven't found anyone by March try again in these threads.
