I actually found her design really ugly (enough so that it contributed to my putting off watching Symphogear until a few months before G aired; Tsubasa's too), and I don't get why people liked her "character" either (she was nothing but a plot vehicle), but Kanade is a large, fluffy girl.

Female Symphogear fans overwhelmingly favor Tsubasa. The curvier Hibiki and Chris have a lot of fans who would put them first, but they tend to be male.
