Well, yes, in the first part of the fight Ichigo was winning really easy, Aizen could not even touch him, but as soon Aizen went butterfly monster form he was able to fuck ichigo arm pretty badly.

That was the whole gimmick of the Hōgyoku, it would have made Aizen stronger than ichigo if he fucked around too much without using the final getsuga.

And despite the fact that Aizen was trapped in mugen all this time, he got even stronger, perphaps enough to surpass final getsuga ichigo.

Aizen was constantly evolving and becoming more powerful.
Ichigo had to fuck his shit up fast before Aizen outclassed him.
