Is this shit to blame for the current state of the industry?
No, but it's symptomatic. It's one of the better LN adaptations, but LN adaptations in general are responsible for a large proportion of shit anime. They're this decade's robot toy commercial equivalent.
Bake is a unique harem show though, We need more shows like it if anything.
It still blows my mind that people actually got into wars over which near-identical battle harem last season was better. I know the joke is that we all have shit taste here, but holy fuck, how can you like either of those shows once it's apparent how utterly bland and formulaic they are?
there are still way more Lucky Star ripoffs than there are Bakemonogatari ripoffs.
Sword Art Online is to blame for every season's new battle harem LN adaptation(s).
No one series has put the industry in the place it is now, different shows changed different parts.
Not at all.
It's either Haruhi, Lucky Star or K-ON.
And I think the question should rather be who should we show our gratitude towards for bringing around the current state of the industry.
Owari is awesome m8.
And Kizu seems excellent.
posts like these makes me wonder how many autistic 16 years olds post on /a/
and immediately after that you see another autist calling him out on the least autistic shit
>do i fit in guys????
jesus fuck this place is a shithole
This shit kept going long after MC chose too, so what?
>Premise and narrative wise, it's basically a harem show
Bake itself is far from a "harem show"
it is a harem, but it is primarily a supernatural mystery
it's basically harem Mushishi
Owari was boring as fuck desu. There were no real anomalies this time they had to defeat. The girl didn't even have an animal and just fucked off to god knows where after that.
Second story was a bit better because shinobu.
It didn't feel like the other shows for some reason.
It felt to me more like the earlier seasons to be honest. Finally it came back to being about girls in shitty life situation needing saving but having to save themselves in the end. Not having an animal doesn't make it significantly different.
But while Sodachi arc is one of my favorite in the series, shinobu mail was just good, which weights down the season as a whole.
>motoko and co still hang around knowing full well keitaro will never cheat on naru outside of doujins and daydreams
>shinobu still does the laundry and cooks for all of them knowing she will always be second place in his heart
What I meant was that it had the narrative structure of a harem show. The protagonist meets a new girl, finds out about something in her life (often a trouble) and has a short adventure with it before she is added to the growing cast.
>shinobu mail was just good, which weights down the season as a whole.
holy shit what
Shinobu mail was 4/10 at best
and neither the melodramatic retard arc was good, just because it's an arc structured like Bake's, it doesn't make it well written
her character, the loli Sodachi mystery with the blank letter and her apartment scenes are fucking idiotic, the arc was as bad as Snake arc but with less fanservice
Series lost it's steam after Bakemonogatari. Shaft doesn't give a fuck anymore and it doesn't help that Nisio is an unprofessional faggot who destroyed this franchise when he was writing Nise.
I said good because I enjoyed the monkey dialogues outside of ep 1, the monkey x bat and senjougahara call, and I did want to know what was happening during tsubasa tiger.
It's fairly well written outside of maybe the last episode conclusion, and the apartment episode was pretty much one of the best episodes in the series so no idea what you mean.
You were doing alright until the snake part.
Snake was decent. It might have been a bit overshadowed by the other arc but it does not make it bad.
I'll take snake over non cat Hanekawa any day for example.
Honestly I don't think Nisio expected Bakemonogatari's adaptation to become such a big hit. He wrote Nise before Bake aired and I think he even said he gave no fucks while writing it.
It was a power during its time, even if they got lazy and fucking stupid with it. Might've been what made studios turn to LNs as a more profitable source material.
Proof that 1. anything can make money and 2. otaku are scum that will buy anything as long as it's "otaku culture".
Made Kyoani up their game like crazy, so much that some people don't realize how good the good kyoani series actually are.
If anything it's your favorite anime what's killing anime.
>newfags who think "anime is dying" because they don't like what the industry is making
>don't realize it's just them losing interest because they never really liked anime to begin with, just a few cherrypicked shows from it
>shit on LN adaptations even though some of the most widely beloved series are LN adaptations
I don't know why these kinds of threads aren't banned. The people who make them readily admit they don't even watch anime anymore.
Wouldn't declining be a more fitting term?
Anime production has never been as massive as it's today, but most of it is just unambitious shit that barely cares about telling a story or doing something out of the medium.
Definitely one of the many things and pretty high up on the list. I feel like standards would have dropped anyway this decade, it just accelerated the drop and made it feels a whole lot worse.
At the end of the day monogatari is just wish-fulfillment harem shit that tries to be deep and it's absolutely disgusting because of it. Not to mention the blatant pedophilia.
People seriously tried to make a big deal out of mega flop forgettable anime like 35th, Rakudai and Asterisk and which show would sell slightly more units by the low triple digits and which had the better tsundere princess lead
You could just blame everything on Aniplex really and then get accused of being Aniplex-Guy and still be right. They're behind virtually every bad trend and cancerous anime franchise of pretty much everything in the decade so far and because the model works we just keep getting more of that shit. The only one I can't really blame largely on them is idol anime, that's largely a Lantis and King Record thing though the industry is kind of following suit
fujoshis arn't actually into real homos
>call monogatari shit for the state of the industry
Owari showed that Monogatari is still at the top of its game even with Bake direction gone. Compare that to a lot of the cancerous shit we get every season and people still blame Monogatari? Then there's the hilarious irony where we have anons in this very thread throwing shit at the arcs that attempted some level of character introspection/storytelling while complaining about lack of muh fights, muh oddities and muh fanservice.
>milking this shit
When we're already in the middle of the final season with even Kizu on the way? The rest of the LNs are just side stories focused on individual characters so that shit doesn't even count.
>everything is shit but I can't decide what is
This is literally "shitpost monogatari: the thread". Basically anti-monogatarifags proving themselves to be more cancerous than actual monogatarifags. All of you can only pretend to be so retarded.
>people actually read this
might as well kill yourself immediately if this trash entertains you
Back in the 2000's I never thought I'd find a studio or franchise I disliked more than what Kyoani was doing but Monogatari really took the cake. Kyoani might have popularized vapid shit and really jump started the industries putting all the power and say in the hands of otaku but at least they always put effort in regardless. Shaft basically popularized the low standards talky fanservice LN anime where everything revolves around this weird dichotomy of thrusting fanservice in the viewers face while at the same time trying to seem as deep and meta as possible through the droning convoluted twisty repetitious dialogue that judging by Fate's popularity otaku just seem to absolutely eat up. Now LN/VN otaku pretty much dominate and control most of what gets made, supported and gets sequels in anime via their purchasing blocs while everything else languishes unless it can hit up the mainstream god forbid. The only real change since has been the rise of fujoshi as a competing obsessive demographic who buy even more shallow vapid shit with even lower standards somehow. I wonder what brain dead money slave demographic the anime industry is going to hit up next that can allow it to lower it's standards even further. It might be idolfags judging by Uta no Prince Season 3 and Symphogear GX.
Off the top of my head, Shakugan no Shana is the most prominent cause for the current state of the industry, but I'm willing to bet there's something else more to blame from somewhere between 2004-2008 that I'm forgetting.
>I wonder what brain dead money slave demographic the anime industry is going to hit up next that can allow it to lower it's standards even further.
fujos are taking over and you're gonna like it you misogynist piece of shit
It' still a cash cow but I've never seen more criticism for the franchise than I have in the wake of the most reason season. It used to be virtually all 100% positive and people would write the most unconditionally glowing things about it. Now it just seems like shitposters, dumb teenagers and to be honest assholes are the ones still clinging to it for dear life. One can only hope it's really starting to wind down, but I figure Shaft/Aniplex is going to pick up the side story novels to exploit the fanbase indefinitely.
>I just don't like your autistic outburst of text.
Would you like it in a house?
Would you like it with a mouse?
>Kyoani might have popularized vapid shit and really jump started the industries putting all the power and say in the hands of otaku
>but at least they always put effort in regardless.
>s-so don't blame Kyoani even though I perfectly described how they kick started this whole shitfest!
>oh right, so Shaft a shit!
Your tears are fucking delicious.
Bake was legitimately amazing.
If you watched anime when it aired you should know, it was something different and unique
Even with some otaku jokes and fanservice, it has cool unique visual style, god tier unique OST, solid mysteries with fun characters, an actual romantic relationship and episode 12
While there are few arcs that are great like the last one in SS, overall the rest of the series shits on Bake's strong points as it gets saturated more and more by trashy sequels
>blames Shaft while excusing Kyoani for basically creating an entire shift in the industry over the obsessive LN adaptations
>complains about fujoshit as the new vapid shit while forgetting that Kyoani already jumped on that boat as well
You sound really confused anon. That or you're just a thinly-veiled Kyoanifag.
Bake was adapted from the first two volumes of the series though chronologically it's not actually the first in the timeline. It's just the narrative starts at a certain point where it then leads up to the actual beginning which is Kizumonogatari (hence all the hype surrounding Kizu in the first place since it's been long overdue).
are you just addicted to hating on things?
I mean it is possible that you really are just an joyless elitist snob but
I have a suspicion you derive actual pleasure from this.
Bake was better directed, scored, and had superb atmosphere.
Nisio got better as a writer and latter seasons have better plots and character development.
Nise is the happy medium between the two.
The entirety of Bake basically hints at the beginning story though (from the start and even the end), so while it's fairly self-contained it also acts as one huge buildup to the prequel story which is Kizu (volume 3 in the series just after Bake). Hell you're lucky enough you didn't have to wait 6 years for it.
Yes, the 'Monogatari is not a harem' meme does need to stop.
I won't deny that Monogatari has harem elements but considering how it has another alpha male character damn near cucking the MC and recently one of the girls practically having the equivalent to an ex-boyfriend, it already elevates it beyond the usual haremshit.
I said Hibike was good
I'm not a joyless elitist snob, they're just continously making garbage
Garbage Kyoani made in the last few years:
Amagi, KnK, Chuuni S1 and S2, Tamako Market
Garbage Shaft made in the last few years:
Every monogatari besides SS, Nisekoi, Graffiti, Mekakucity, Denpa Onna, Sasami-san
Alright Madoka was good, but even that was milked with unneeded cash grab sequel
That's pretty fucking awful
Except the focus doesn't fall on his romantic relationships and his edgelord status paints him more as giving zero fucks at this point in the present timeline of the series. Hell, the amount of shitstorm Koimonogatari caused for the haremfags was enough to make his character worth it.
It still doesn't change the fact that his presence alone made an unassuming cuck out of Araragi, who's the main protagonist of the series. If anything, him being a beta faggot-turned-edgelord makes it even worse that he was able to pull that shit off. It's no wonder why so many haremfags were butthurt over his existence even when he already got bashed by a random kid.
I'm not denying that. I'm just debating his status as an alpha or beta male. He easily falls under the beta tagline. The only alpha male in Monogatari is probable Meme since he does his thing without bothering anyone.
Entire thread is filled with newfags and people pretending to be retarded when they actually are retarded. Never change /a/
>It has the worst fanbase on /a/
You're making the case that you're making shit up as you go. You obviously haven't been on /a/
Have you even been to the Monogatari threads? It's like watching some bizarre waifu-worship ritual with very little discussion unless someone was stupid enough to not get a plot detail. Most of the time all the "intelligent" anons come across as falseflagging than actual fans.
>all of this fighting over stupid shit
just watch your animu and enjoy nerds. you faggots are so pathetic
I thought I should put this here, since it's a kinda - sorta monogatari thread.
Seems a couple stories in Wazamono are Karen and Hanekawa based, on top of Shinobu. Nice illustrations too:
>trying to fit in
I'd tell you to kill yourself, but you're already getting there by digging even deeper.
Yeah if you think that's a defense then you're an idiot. The point is actually that it can always get worse, but /a/ can't understand anything outside of the framing of Kyoani vs. Shaft for the most part so of course you'd find a way to read it that way to shitpost.
Yes we're all well aware of how the average dumb anime fan gets pissy when they figure they might have to read something more involved than a single sentence stock meme reply.
Don't care for either studios but it's downright hilarious when shit gets flung at Shaftfags and the Kyoanifags rear their ugly heads.
>Yeah if you think that's a defense then you're an idiot.
>but /a/ can't understand anything outside of the framing of Kyoani vs. Shaft
>literally assumes the same fucking framing
Stay classy, /a/non.
>many haremfags were butthurt over his existence
What the hell are you talking about you fucking newfag? Kaiki has always been one of the most beloved characters. It's only semi-recently that shitposters have started using him as bait, mostly because of the 'cuck' meme. And even then it was mostly just one guy.
Well, it's the only reason there still is an industry, so maybe
Reconsider this OP, its still better than some other memeanime running around
cat is best wife
Jokes on you dumbass, I love and hate various shows from either studio.
>adventures with Hanekawa around the world
Now this is a novel I can get behind!
Really? That's the best you've got?
>first legitimate friend of Araragi but emotional pleas and cues are ignored
>Araragi gets a girlfriend that isn't Cat
>rejected by Araragi in her own final arc
I don't think you understand how this works anon
>Basically anti-monogatarifags proving themselves to be more cancerous than actual monogatarifags.
I'm impressed, being that cancerous takes dedication. Thanks to snakefag memes, Monogatarifags can be some of the worst /a/nons at times.
I bet you faggots believe
Reyisn't a Mary Sue either. Here's an all around good character who is not a Mary Sue.
She's not though, and while it seems that way in Bake because of the presumption that she's more likely to be his girlfriend than Crab, a lot of characters call her out on her shit in later arcs starting with none other than Araragi himself.
Didn't moeshit/shaft haters get told to instantly fuck off whenever they posted half a year ago? Are we allowing them to have their own thread now?
Does that mean Kaiki is a Mary Sue too?
Cat is not even close, Kiss-Shot is kind of close because she's a crazy powerful vampire but she still fucked up plenty, like when she became a God and summoned the dark shit or in the alternate timeline
You're basically saying "you're waifu is shit" because all anons have some girl they deem perfect.
So all waifu are Mary Sue? Wow very reflective anon.
Monkey is a self insert of horny suffering.
I recently marathoned the Monogatari series to see what all the hype is about. It's a well thought out series with good characters in a typical high school setting made extraordinary by it's great plot. Not to mention it has a mixture of appeals for everybody. The art throughout the series is even pretty good.
If it anyone is complaining about Monogatari being a meme anime or something that's ruining anime, they're just pissed about people liking something they don't like. There's worse things out there that have way more notoriety than the Monogatari series.
