The moment Rei felt betrayed by Gendo for once again being forcefully brought back to life is when his plans to control instrumentality using her as a medium went down the shitter. Just recently finished NGE and EoE and I'm a bit confused. So Lilith is the ancestor of all life on Earth excluding the angels, and was there from the beginning, then Adam fucks everything up by landing on Earth when Lilith was already there? So, does each planet have a seed from Adam or Lilith? And how did Lilith end up being impaled on some huge cross with the Lance of Longinus? Wikipedia doesn't answer much.

What Rei says is that she wants to go back to nothingness, but Gendo wouldn't let her do that just yet. In the End of Evangelion movie what happens is her rejecting Gendo at the last minute and returning to Lillith on her own terms. She can't be doing nothing but what she wants there, given how on that point she has severed any obligations or duties she could have had with him.

Returning to her true body entails her becoming Lillith once more, discarding her false human shell, though she did not want to let go of the Rei identity that had been built up in her stay on Nerv all these years.

This is why I said she wanted to go back to being Lillith, meaning she wanted to go back to Lillith's body held in NERV's deepest depths, which entailed her discarding her Lillin body, which meant her death as Rei, and she already knew all that because at that time she had already realized whose soul she housed. The bit about Lillith becoming a giant Rei was basically her forcing her own happy ending of sorts by trying to retain her Rei identity she had been afraid to discard.

I really hope this has been enough to connect all the relevant dots.

Not every planet has a Seed, but there are others out there. Kaworu leaves with one in one of his endings in Eva 2. Which means somewhere else in the Eva-verse, there are planets full of other Angels and humans.
