I couldn't believe how different Brotherhood eventually became.

-More focus on characters
-More characters in general
-Lots of side stories/filler (if you like that)

Brotherhood Pros
-More focus on (and better) story
-Almost no side stories/filler (all main story)
-Better art

Start with original but watch both. I do think Brotherhood is better, but original is also pretty good. Also, Brotherhood seems to kind of expects you to have already seen original, so it glosses over bits that were more in depth with the original.

Because Brotherhood is better, I think you'll be very disappointed with original if you watch it second.

Haven't read the manga but it probably is the best one.

Well it's basically a straight adaptation of the manga. I don't remember any major differences besides the first episode with ice guy not existing in the manga.
