So how long until the next OVA, I really enjoyed the first.
Also I thought there was suppose to be a new OP, when Undine started playing that really caught me off guard
>Expect new OP
>Undine begins to play as Ai is rowing around Neo Venezia
>Down tight alley
>two gondola at exit crossing
>Alice and Aika
I wonder if the new characters will give a feeling of 'New generation, life is always moving forward' and closure, or just make me want to start it all over again with the new girls.
I know it will be the latter.
This show has conditioned me. I had a lump in my throat just from Undine playing.
>I had a lump in my throat just from Undine playing.
Yep same, it was especially bad because I wasn't expecting it, then seeing the girls all together and I just couldn't take it.
So how do people feel about having an older Akari now? Will Ai be the new main protagonist?
I kinda hope Akari stays as the focus, otherwise it's like the journey is starting over rather than us getting the perhaps last cour. If it chooses to follow the new girls too it feels like it would be a step away from the mono no aware theme, such that rather than us accepting the transience of their time together it just chooses to repeat with different girls, which wouldn't be right replacing Akari, Aika and Alice.
I imagine yes Akari, Aika, and Alice will take their senpai's roles as Ai and the other two new girls will be the new main characters.
I'm sure everyone will still get plenty of screen time, but that's just my guess.
Well I thought Origination was the final, but then this came back so anything can happen. If the OVA's sell well enough we may just get more and it could turn into and SYD style season 4.
What job would you take up in Neo-Venezia so that you'll have enough money to be able to ride the gondola everyday?
>Cait Sith already said that you're not supposed to go there
>"Will you take me there again?"
Museum guide specializing in the history of the original Venezia.
Somewhere on the coast of the Northern Ocean. From what we see in the series, I don't think NV is in a lagoon like Venice is, so i think it faces open sea. I could be wrong though.
I'm kind of disappointed with the lack of focus in music in Aria.
Can someone remind me again what the secret behind cait sith was or how the parted in the manga. Been a while since I read the manga and I know they skipped it in the manga. Wonder if the OVA's will have it.
It's said that over 90% is flooded. Let's say only land with an elevation of about 8 and a half kilometers is left above water. I believe that unless every surrounding island is man made, it's got to be either Mariner Valley (1) or the Claritas fossae (2). Since we have seen Akari row over to another island, my bet is definitely on the latter, because distances between islands in Mariner Valley are a little too big, and also the islands themselves are huge. It would also allow for the longer ride she had to get from Woody, if she went from one group of islands to another.
As above said I didn't see the other thread and I made this one as I'd just watched the OVA and there was nowhere to discuss it. Either way it doesn't matter as there's new content to be discussed now anyway so the thread doesn't just turn to shit
Fucking this. I don't want to see Aria being milked. The only thing I wish for is that we get quality upscales on the BDs. I hope some raws will pop up soon because the first season was released in Japan on dec 24.
I don't want to see it milked either, but this already is to an extent.
And I just know that as soon as I see the new characters I'm going to want to see more. But I also know that it's better this way.
I wish someone would pick up the manga license too.
I really want to thank everyone for the last thread, I'll live on that a long time.
I didn't bother ripping my BDs because they look like complete ass. You can find them on ADC anyway. I'd rather watch the DVDs than the ugly mess it ended up as.
That image of Akari makes me so happy every time I see it. Thank you for posting it.
So I re-watched NNB repeat last season an episode a week again and finished it a few days ago and loved it even more than the first time I watched it, nothing beats re-watching something at the same pace as when it first aired, and now I need something else to watch on a Sunday evening just before bed.
I think it's time to re-watch Aria. 53 weeks of watching Aria on a sunday before bed.
In fact it will be 56 with the new OVA's, over a year of Aria.
This is how iyashikei is meant to be enjoyed.
I got the feeling that it was more about life moving forward. It still felt like Akari's group was the main focus and they went over some of the parallels between Alicia's group in the past and Akari's right now.
I don't think they'll be able to build that much on the new characters in the remaining two episodes, so I'm happy with them fulfilling a supporting role while we see life from older Akari's point of view.
It was nice seeing Ai worry about finding new friends on Neo Venezia and then seeing the new characters on the goldolas with their senpais.
Under the conditions specified in ARIA, this should be a pretty accurate map of Aqua.
Yeah, maybe there are tons of artificial islands like Neo Venezia. Though it is a little harder to terraform Venus than Mars, it should be well within reach to do that by the 24th century.
I determined a minimum elevation, then using this topographical scan I outlined and filled everything that was above that elevation. I'm sure it's not entirely that easy, but it should be a fairly solid approximate.
So how do you flood an entire planet? And why would you do that in the first place? I can't think of anything besides wanting to instigate rainfall during the terraforming process and then fucking it up and overdoing it.
They say they melted the poles too much by accident. They released additional water from underground before they realized this and simply dropped the ball hard.
Oh, nevermind actually, I somehow missed the map you posted in >>135679105
I think you raised the water level too high, I Just made this one.
I used a black and white gradient map, made it fairly easy to cutoff the heights by using levels, and use color to transparance to remove them.
I think your map looks more like 98% flooded. We're talking about area relative to the planet's whole area, and this is probably what roughly 50% would look like.
Yours was well over 90% flooded. just drawing a rough box around the mass of islands on the left and subtracting from the rest still shows as approximately 93% flooded so >>135680269 is much closer.
So I've been wondering where on my map Neo Venetia could likely be located.
I'm assuming the weather patterns are the same as on earth, that is hot tropics with easterly flow and westerlies in the temperate zones.
Neo Venetia is being shown as having a temperate climate with cold winters and snow, so it can't be too close to the equator.
As it doesn't seem to be too rainy it's unlikely to be at the west coast.
Then Assuming it's situated on the main landmass I think that leaves the coast of the south-eastern peninsula as most likely.
Just a crude map to check water levels. I had the pixels counted at exactly 90% of the full map.
Played around with the levels to make the height differences more clear.
There is a high mountain range at the foot of the south-eastern peninsula so the west coast there would get lots of rain.
You're doing god's work. I remembered there's actually a shot of Aqua from space in the first episode of the anime. They were smart about putting a lot of clouds in the way, but there does appear to be some land.
this map could fit the 1000s or uninhabited islands description
for any one more educated in the matter, but wouldn't larger oceans=larger storms, or are salamanders just that good
Probably artifacts of the selection method I used.
A clean version of the same:
I wonder how much of this would a shallow sea you could walk on.
No, the intensity of storms is governed by the energy they can get, so for storms to be strong the water has to be warm enough. A water world like that probably sees a fair amount of tropical storms around the equator, but that south-eastern part should be pretty safe from those.
But I have to think about another question here. Mars' angular velocity is roughly the same as earth, one rotation in a bit more than 24 hours, so the Coriolis force should be comparable to that on earth. The planet is much smaller though, so I'm wondering if there is even enough space for larger storms to develop.
>but that south-eastern part should be pretty safe from those.
Disregard that, I made a mistake here. Hypothetical tropical storms could pretty easily hit that part. as they would start near the equator, move eastward and southward.
Guess the Salamanders are doing a great job at just preventing those.
The more I think about this the more I realize that this poor aingular landmass would have it pretty rough.
The south-eastern part would be battered by tropical storms that would develop in the huge ocean east of it.
The south-western part would see torrential rain from the moisture-laden air blowing against the mountains in the westerlies.
The northwest would be a hot tropical land surrounding three giant mountains.
The north-east around the equator would probably have the nicest climate, but certainly no snow or seasons at all.
It's all about the Salamanders I guess.
Last post, I lowered the water level a bit, for now this is my final estimate at where Neo Venetia could be located.
Kind of, but relative to the planets in our reach it's a great place for colonization. It requires us to understand how to jumpstart a greenhouse effect, once you've done that it will basically terraform itself. I think humans will probably deal with the gravity, it's not that awful. The radiation is no problem with an atmosphere in place, a magnetosphere would be nice but the atmosphere won't escape until in a long while even if you don't have one. I think it will be alright, but we're only really going there so humanity doesn't die out if earth is kill, so it doesn't really need to be great.
I know it's not the right mood for Aria, but can you imagine the people terraforming this planet and then realizing how much they've fucked up?
It's essentially ruining a planet, covering it with that much water. Think of all that wasted landmass.
Sometimes I forget that Dear Akari-sama isn't canon.
Did a different version to double-check. Landmass is exactly 10%.
The fuck happened to Earth?
Are you ready for a ride /a/?
Probably Amano didn't think too much when he started the manga
youtube really hates Aria OST
I don't have many tracks available, so sorry for the lack of them
The end of the first chapter
I never watched the last season because I didn't want it to end and hear its pretty emotional though seem as how there are the OVAs I decided to download it how ever I'm not sure what to download, I grabbed the one off the batch but its not downloading. I thought there was a BD release but I can't see it?
Akari is the best girl. Alice and Aika agree.
you are wrong, anon
Glad to know yer eyes work, anon.
Well they did what they could with it.
Good stuff. It was almost like nothing changed.
>The OVA is finally out and subbed
HOLY FUCK, but how good are the subs? Should I wait for better subs or are they good enough?
I really want to watch it. Been waiting it for so long.
Do whatever you want man
Isn't doing this with a full color height scale more difficult?
I'm wondering because yours and >>135682189 have different parts flooded and above the water level, but the HR dataset for those maps should be the same.
Are there better ways to upscale something with such a low base resolution?
Won't it always look blurry, regardless of a pre-rendered upscale on a BD disc or a locally calculated upscale of a low-res file by the player?
This was perfect, I feel warm inside.
I just checked the SE Lain BD rips.
The show was made in 1998, how on earth did they manage such a crisp clear 1080p upscale?
Isn't that the same deal as CCS where it was mastered in a much higher resolution?
Hard to believe that someone mastered shows in the 90s in such a high resolution that they don't look upscaled or blurry in 1080p, a resolution that was unthinkable back then.
Yeah I have that too, just didn't have it on the PC I posted that from.
Don't let this thread die. I'll just post this miracle of the universe.
So will you be staying on earth or going to Mars when the time comes?
I started reading Amanchu and Dotty's got my heart popping out.
Pretty sure she's a lesbian though. The two-girl friendship in this is a lot more charged than Aria.
>tfw i'll be dead by the time either happens and will nevere experience heaven
I'd stay on earth, the YKK world is my vision of perfection. Maybe I'd take my holidays in Neo Venezia though.
It's because those shows were made on cell, where Aria is digital. Sadly shows from the early to mid 00s are stuck in a low res digital format that won't ever look better, whereas cell animated shows can be rescanned in whatever resolution you want and still look crisp.
Thanks for the reminder, I didn't think about this. Makes all sense now.
Damn, it will take me almost a week to download the BD box.
Don't waste your time, I warn you.
The file name explains itself
>I must obtain everything that is Aria
you should've download raw DVDs instead, anon.
It really isn't worth at all download the BD Box
Don't rush it. Watch 1 episode at most for a day
