So how do people feel about having an older Akari now? Will Ai be the new main protagonist?

I kinda hope Akari stays as the focus, otherwise it's like the journey is starting over rather than us getting the perhaps last cour. If it chooses to follow the new girls too it feels like it would be a step away from the mono no aware theme, such that rather than us accepting the transience of their time together it just chooses to repeat with different girls, which wouldn't be right replacing Akari, Aika and Alice.

It's said that over 90% is flooded. Let's say only land with an elevation of about 8 and a half kilometers is left above water. I believe that unless every surrounding island is man made, it's got to be either Mariner Valley (1) or the Claritas fossae (2). Since we have seen Akari row over to another island, my bet is definitely on the latter, because distances between islands in Mariner Valley are a little too big, and also the islands themselves are huge. It would also allow for the longer ride she had to get from Woody, if she went from one group of islands to another.

So I re-watched NNB repeat last season an episode a week again and finished it a few days ago and loved it even more than the first time I watched it, nothing beats re-watching something at the same pace as when it first aired, and now I need something else to watch on a Sunday evening just before bed.

I think it's time to re-watch Aria. 53 weeks of watching Aria on a sunday before bed.

I got the feeling that it was more about life moving forward. It still felt like Akari's group was the main focus and they went over some of the parallels between Alicia's group in the past and Akari's right now.

I don't think they'll be able to build that much on the new characters in the remaining two episodes, so I'm happy with them fulfilling a supporting role while we see life from older Akari's point of view.

It was nice seeing Ai worry about finding new friends on Neo Venezia and then seeing the new characters on the goldolas with their senpais.

I used a black and white gradient map, made it fairly easy to cutoff the heights by using levels, and use color to transparance to remove them.
I think your map looks more like 98% flooded. We're talking about area relative to the planet's whole area, and this is probably what roughly 50% would look like.

That's nice. In that case I'd hypothesize Neo Venezia to be somewhere in the group of islands around the Terra Sirenum region, in the bottom left.

So I've been wondering where on my map Neo Venetia could likely be located.
I'm assuming the weather patterns are the same as on earth, that is hot tropics with easterly flow and westerlies in the temperate zones.
Neo Venetia is being shown as having a temperate climate with cold winters and snow, so it can't be too close to the equator.
As it doesn't seem to be too rainy it's unlikely to be at the west coast.
Then Assuming it's situated on the main landmass I think that leaves the coast of the south-eastern peninsula as most likely.

Played around with the levels to make the height differences more clear.
There is a high mountain range at the foot of the south-eastern peninsula so the west coast there would get lots of rain.

No, the intensity of storms is governed by the energy they can get, so for storms to be strong the water has to be warm enough. A water world like that probably sees a fair amount of tropical storms around the equator, but that south-eastern part should be pretty safe from those.
But I have to think about another question here. Mars' angular velocity is roughly the same as earth, one rotation in a bit more than 24 hours, so the Coriolis force should be comparable to that on earth. The planet is much smaller though, so I'm wondering if there is even enough space for larger storms to develop.

Disregard that, I made a mistake here. Hypothetical tropical storms could pretty easily hit that part. as they would start near the equator, move eastward and southward.
Guess the Salamanders are doing a great job at just preventing those.

The more I think about this the more I realize that this poor aingular landmass would have it pretty rough.
The south-eastern part would be battered by tropical storms that would develop in the huge ocean east of it.
The south-western part would see torrential rain from the moisture-laden air blowing against the mountains in the westerlies.
The northwest would be a hot tropical land surrounding three giant mountains.
The north-east around the equator would probably have the nicest climate, but certainly no snow or seasons at all.
It's all about the Salamanders I guess.

Kind of, but relative to the planets in our reach it's a great place for colonization. It requires us to understand how to jumpstart a greenhouse effect, once you've done that it will basically terraform itself. I think humans will probably deal with the gravity, it's not that awful. The radiation is no problem with an atmosphere in place, a magnetosphere would be nice but the atmosphere won't escape until in a long while even if you don't have one. I think it will be alright, but we're only really going there so humanity doesn't die out if earth is kill, so it doesn't really need to be great.

It's because those shows were made on cell, where Aria is digital. Sadly shows from the early to mid 00s are stuck in a low res digital format that won't ever look better, whereas cell animated shows can be rescanned in whatever resolution you want and still look crisp.
