Reminder to get hyped for Aqua-sama's anime.
Also pic related, lewd book featuring her.
I can't say I'm all that excited for it. It's probably going to be 12 episodes covering only the defeat of the
dullahanand the destruction of the mobile fortress.
We'll never get to best girls' home town. I guess it would also be Megami's hometown too.
I'm thinking only volume 1 and 2. It's really slow novel where nothing much really happens. They'll likely get stuck on Aqua and MC's various quests and take an entire episode for the flying cabbage.
Damn, it's true you get a game with the Blu-ray.
I want it. Do these extras usually get uploaded?
OP of the volume 8 spoiler thread here, I was planning on making a thread Wednesday to post some more spoilers but doing it early is fine too.
First off a bit of news, I previously reported that the site that hosted the Chinese translations had shut down. Turns out that this appears to not be the case. While the mainpage still states they had officially closed down, the Gifting page had recently updated with chapters of Volume 8. Which you can check out here (sadly no illustrations yet): http://www.wenku8.com/novel/1/1657/
>reading Chink translation
>not original Japanese
Granted, I'm still one volume one. Also check my Yukina bookmark.
Now onto the actual spoilers, so read on if you want to. More specific this time since we have a few chapters from the actual novel now.
Volume starts with a prologue depicted Kazuma and Aqua watching over the festival. Makes Kazuma feel very nostalgic since it reminds him of the ones in Japan. Prologue ends with Aqua turning to him, sincerely thanking him and giving an innocent smile.
First chapter starts off from where 7 ended. With Chris frozen after accidentally answering to the name Eris, in a cafe with Kazuma. There's a brief overview on the events of volume 7, specifically talking about how the Landlord disappeared and the status of Darkness' father.
Chris at first tries to deny being Eris, but Kazuma casually breaks down his logic. Chris then gives up and admits she's Eris, changes her expression to match her Goddess appearance when she sits down confirming Kazuma's suspicions.
Kazuma then goes on a little ramble about how it was kind of unexpected due to the personality differences, and starts apologizing for stuff like stealing her panties and his other acts of sexual harassment. Eris responds by telling him to shut up and she pounds on the table while blushing.
Conversation move on to cover topics like Darkness (and Eris begging Kazuma not to tell her that she's a goddess), and the artifacts left behind by previous cheaters. Also a nice scene where Kazuma is confused about which personality is the real one, and Eris teasing him by asking which one he likes more, Chris or Eris. Leads to Kazuma rambling and Eris throwing a salt shaker at him.
Conversation moves onto Eris asking for Kazuma's help with retrieving the artifacts. Kazuma refuses since he (understandably) doesn't want anything to do with those. Eris then pleads with him with a sad expression on her face (kind of like the one she uses when he first died), and the part ends with Kazuma thinking that was unfair.
Next part of the spoilers.
Starts off with a meeting in the mansion, with Wiz and Vanir there about the financial situation. Talks about the intellectual property, and stuff due to Kazuma using most of the money to save Darkness (also Aqua spent a lot to buy a "dragon emperor" egg.) Vanir ends up getting pounced on by everyone, due to his role in getting Darkness' father cursed.
Next part starts off with Kazuma accompanying Megumin in her daily explosion routine. Megumin talks about how Darkness can't leave easily like before due to her owing them. States that she likes Kazuma due to his nature of complaining a lot but still helping them in the end. Kazuma talks about how she shouldn't say those kind of things because they will make misunderstandings. Megumin basically tells him to figure it out himself and laughs.
Kazuma then basically starts to do a confession (mostly due to some silly logic making him think the chances of being rejected were low), but it gets interrupted by Megumin's explosion.
Part 4 starts with Kazuma piggybacking Megumin and her acting like a dense harem MC asking what he was saying because she couldn't hear him (due to the explosion). With Kazuma acting like a tsundere and saying he didn't say anything at all. Conversation about pudding but it stops when they open the door.
They walk in on Aqua and Vanir having a standoff, with the creature from the egg in between them having hatched (it looks like a chick). Darkness and Wiz were taken out in the crossfire between them (Darkness hit with a magic bullet, and Wiz being used as Vanir's shield). Vanir basically saying it was self-defense due to Aqua, and how today was the day marking Zell emperor's birth.
Part 5 is a chat about the newly born bird, first thing it sees are recognized as its parents and those happened to be Aqua and Vanir. They continue fighting over the bird. Vanir eventually escapes (the bird wouldn't leave him) by splitting in two.
Anime character designs are going to take me a bit to get used to. Macademy Wasshoi was great, so I'm hoping Kanasaki can do the same here. Likewise, Ueza's done composition for a number of great comedies like Sunred and Seto no Hanayome.
Sounds fun. It's always nice seeing Kazuma and Chris together. That scene with Aqua sounds good too.
As always, Megumin a best girl.
Last parts of the first chapter. (accidentally messed up the spoiler, so he's take 2)
Part 6 has gushing about Zell and a lot of banter for the most part; pretty short overall. Chris/Eris knocks on the door leading to part 7.
Part 7 has Chris asking the party to help her retrieve the artifacts. Darkness refuses since she has to help her father, Megumin agrees but says she will be of limited help, says her explosion magic would be helpful.
She looks at Aqua with expectations, but is flatly refused. She's too caught up adoring her new child, and she and Kazuma banter about it for a bit.
Moves on to her talking about the upcoming Eris festival. Kazuma looks to Chris about it, who looks shy while drinking tea, the idea is that they celebrate it to be given a year of peace from Eris. Kazuma glances at her for confirmation, but she shakes her head meaning the thing is pure superstition.
Aqua then gets pissed and starts talking about how it's unfair that there is no Aqua festival. Says they should end the Eris festival and run an Aqua one instead, causing Chris to spit out her tea (which Aqua ignores). Aqua goes on saying how she had to take care of Eris during her time as a Goddess.
Kazuma and Chris have a brief whisper about this.
Darkness refuses to help Aqua, Megumin agrees to help since she isn't an Eris devotee. Aqua then basically drafts Chris into helping.
Nope, she's kind of dense.
Then you're going to love the shit out of volume 5 when you get to it.
Megumin has some nice scenes in this volume (as well as 6 and 7 from what I've heard), but most of the development is for Aqua and Eris.
Also teasing Megumin is best Megumin.
The Japanese in the series is pretty easy, so I can just fly through it. I still have volume 1s of some other LNs ready to read, but I guess I could also continue with Konosuba, if it stays strong.
>All these Meguminfags
I-it's okay even if I'm alone I'm still loyal to Darkness
>The Japanese in the series is pretty easy
teach me senpai desu onegai ;_;
Lalatina is ok, every grils from this series are all waifuest, but Megumin is the best of the best
I'd do the same honestly. I'm just posting up the spoilers since these will probably be the last Gifting LN threads we'll get before the anime hits.
It is pretty simple, but the quality only goes up in my opinion. Humor is pretty consistent and I don't think there has been any lackluster volumes so far.
But feel free to try out other LNs since there's no rush. This author is pretty great since his releases are always on a consistent schedule, even when he started writing the Megumin spin-off series (even started a short Vanir one).
Yunyun's pretty great too. Why are Crimson Magic girls so best?
Funny considering I actually like Aqua the most strangely enough.
I only have a shitty mobile phone and it's bothersome to take good photos, but I'll give you a preview.
Aqua-sama's ample chest.
yeah anime in 9 days. kinda anxious with the anime since it's "DEEN", but well as long as the LN got translated then i'm daijoubu
i wonder if LN got furigana on top of the kanji since i can only read hiragana / katakana
ME WANT THIS!!
and yeah, Crimson Mazoku grills are are awesome
>i wonder if LN got furigana on top of the kanji since i can only read hiragana / katakana
No, it doesn't >>135655407 Only on very few words, I guess those a typical LN reader isn't expected to know yet.
>Kazuma then basically starts to do a confession (mostly due to some silly logic making him think the chances of being rejected were low), but it gets interrupted by Megumin's explosion.
does she like michael bay girl that much?
Still skimming through the second chapter since it's quite a lot; some of the wording is confusing me so if anybody here knows Chink feel free to correct me.
On an unrelated note here's some artwork of Kazuma and Aqua working. Really love this artist's colored work.
Though he apparently has a pretty major grey/silver fetish. Guess we know who is his best girl eh?
Thanks anon, I didn't think there would be a doujin already for this series. Happy to be proven wrong so soon.
Yeah, I initially didn't know about it either, so when I randomly saw it on Comiket, I grabbed it immediately. Pretty lucky to be honest.
From what I can tell it was mostly him getting caught up in the flow of the conversation (in his head he was ranting about technically being considered a hero, which would mean lower rejection chances). But it's kind of hard to tell what was genuine, and what was his tsundere unreliable narrator parts.
Now onto chapter 2, here's a pic form the artist's twitter feed to make up for taking awhile.
Chapter starts with conversation between Aqua and Kazuma about ice. Aqua gets Kazuma to help her out since Darkness refused and Megumin had to meet an acquaintance.
They go to a small church on the outskirts of town, overhear a conversation between a man and Megumin (basically sounds like a drug deal. Kazuma breaks down the door.
Part 2 starts with Kazuma basically acting like the police, starts threatening the person for trying to sell contraband to his companion. Aqua then punches him and the abdomen while Megumin is confused about what was going on.
Misunderstanding, obviously, with Aqua lecturing the person citing one of her religions laws. Moves onto part 3.
Pretty good, there's some neat scenes from Megumin's perspective during volume 1. Like how she first saw Kazuma and Aqua. There's some scenes in the main series references events that occurred in the spin-off too. So it helped make some scenes less confusing.
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment anon.
I'd rather be pessimistic as fuck and shit on them, then be pleasantly surprised later, than be hopeful and sink into despair.
I can't handle another AntiMagic is what I'm saying.
Here's a nice illustration for that scene btw.
Moving onto part 3. For those wondering who the church characters are, I think they are Megumin's acquaintances from the spin-off, named Cecily. See pic-related.
Part 3 reveals that the Axis cult know that Aqua is actually their Goddess (though volume 4 already said so too). They start planning on waging war on the Eris cult in the city to make the Aqua festival (logic being summer makes more sense for a festival for the goddess of water, which is kind of true if you think about it).
Part 4 starts with them roughing up shopkeepers in Axel who want nothing to do with the Axis cult. Kazuma tries to get Megumin to convince Cecily to stop, but she says she isn't her friend, just an acquaintance as an excuse not to get involved.
Place is very busy preparing for the festival, Kazuma is reminded of the culture festivals at school. Kazuma asks if he can persuade the shopkeepers in their stead. Kazuma whispers with the shop guy about doing a joint festival with both Aqua and Eris. Guy talks about how the annual income is getting lower due to the increase in military spending to fight against the Demon King.
Kazuma basically says that the shopkeepers can profit off of the conflict between the Eris and Aqua festivals. More talking, and basically Kazuma being a scummy business guy (I love him, best MC). Basically acts as the consultant for the festivals. The two bursts out in laughter, making the rest of the group uneasy.
Right? Thankfully its a comedy series so it doesn't need that much of a budget, but still. I'm going to keep my expectations low, but I hope it at least does well sales wise if not quality wise.
No, she and Megumin went to Axel together, but split up later on so that Yunyun could train more. Bunch of stuff happens, I might do a summary later when I'm done with the V8 spoilers.
And hopefully 10 episodes means they can at least use the budget more efficiently.
Still, I can't help but hope somewhere deep inside that this will end up like Korean Zombie Desk Car, in that despite being Deen and despite the budget it ends up being a really fun show.
>Kazuma basically says that the shopkeepers can profit off of the conflict between the Eris and Aqua festivals. More talking, and basically Kazuma being a scummy business guy (I love him, best MC). Basically acts as the consultant for the festivals. The two bursts out in laughter, making the rest of the group uneasy.
oh no his becoming a jew
The LN character designs are cute and simple, but nevertheless do a good job of conveying the characters' personalities. Megumin has this innocent, vulnerable side that shows through (remember she's only 13 at the beginning) while Aqua's innocence is more of the troublemaking and obtuse variety.
(Honestly, those designs ought to have been fairly easy to adapt to anime, right? Simple, stylistically consistent and yet conveying individual personality...)
> Keep in mind that she's thirteen (13) years old.
14 at that point. She ages into Kazuma's strike zone between Vol 3 and 4, right?
I hope for the same, while the second season was a bit of a downer, I really liked the anime. Had a charm to it that isn't usually in a DEEN show.
Here, have some more.
Onto the next part, if you hadn't noticed yet this is a really bloody long chapter
Part 5 starts has Eris (I'm going to refer to her has this from now on) yelling in the cafe after Kazuma gives her the news. Complains at how Kazuma says he wants to avoid trouble, but is willingly helping out Aqua despite it almost certainly going to cause him trouble. He retorts that she should have explicitly rejected Aqua too. Says she can't help it since Aqua asked and she is her senpai (same thing goes with his resurrections). He starts telling her about his chat with the shopkeeper president (omitting some parts).
Talks about the joint festival, and then moves onto the artifacts. Nobility likes to collect strange things, so they have to steal it from this guy. The guy got it through illegal means, so their idea of getting Darkness to negotiate with him wouldn't work (he would just deny having it). Kazuma thinks about how the masks come in handy (I assume this is the Vanir mask from volume 7).
Part 6 starts with Darkness locking herself in the bathroom and crying; and Aqua trying to convince her to come out. I think it's because of Aqua calling her a tramp multiple times throughout this volume. Kazuma starts calling her Lalatina and she stops crying, a hammering noise is heard instead. Kazuma gives her an ultimatum (says he will make her beg) and the sound of the toilet hissing could be heard. Doesn't quite work, so Aqua moves him and she tells Darkness that Kazuma went to rummage through her room, lost in his desires; which causes Darkness to finally leave the bathroom. (Though the door is apparently barricaded with a table now). Darkness begs to be let out.
Eating dinner as a group, Kazuma talks about how he got the permission from the president.
But the character designer, Koichi KIKUTA, is mainly a key animator and has never done character designs before. Some "conceptual designs", some episode direction, some storyboarding, mostly key animation.
Which is hard to get right the first time.
If I recall correctly they are Axis cultists that Megumin and Yunyun met in Axel. Helped them fight a succubus I believe (not 100% sure on that).
Cecily directly tells Kazuma that they know who Aqua is. Though it looks like they want to keep that a secret from Aqua herself to keep her happy. But Cecily has a tough time keeping herself contained to say the least.
How are the LN translations? AntiMagic managed to finally get me into LNs (after having tried and failed to get into them several times before) so I kinda want to give a few others a try.
Well, the translations for that were pretty shit too so it's not like it'll matter too much if they aren't great.
Comment limits, the bane of my spoiling existence.
Darkness comments on how good the food they are eating is. Turns out Kazuma cooked it, and has been learning cooking skills since she was taken away. Mainly learned them since he was expecting to live a life of leisure with his money.
Part 7 has Aqua away visiting the Axis church to prepare for the celebration. Starts with Kazuma and Eris in front of the noble guy's house preparing to rob it. Talks about how people are really heavy sleepers in this world.
Eris is confused about the big thing he is carrying, turns out that it is shock-absorbing material that is also soundproof. Eris is impressed.
Place is easy to infiltrate compared to the royal castle. Kazuma asks Eris why she doesn't have the night vision that Aqua has. Eris says that since her body is actually a human disguise she doesn't have her abilities as a Goddess. Unlike Aqua who actually took on a physical manifestation. On the plus side she doesn't attract the undead like Aqua does, since she lacks her godly aura.
Kazuma says they should hold hands, Eris refuses. Says if he sexually harasses her she will curse him, says she'll make it so that he'll have a stomach ache and rush to the bathroom only to find someone already inside. Then he'll be let in at the very last moment, only to find that there is no toilet paper inside (that's some cruel shit). Kazuma asks for forgiveness.
A chat about the Vanir mask, Eris asks if he can take her to the shop he got it from. Kazuma agrees but mentions how Aqua and the shop owner fight all the time (doesn't mention that Vanir, a devil, is in charge). Kazuma begins thinking it's a bad idea (remember how Aqua said Eris is even more unreasonable with devils than she is?)
I'm skipping the spoilers since I want to read the volumes when they're translated, but -- does the tone stay thoroughly comic, or does it become more "serious" as they get closer to the demon lord?
Part 8 starts with them inside the guy's collection, and Eris getting distracted with all the stuff (that she wants to steal). Kazuma talks about how he wants to learn skills for a decadent life, like how to make a golem so he can have it do housework.
Eris comments on how he has strange uses for magic skills. Says she hopes he'll learn serious combat skills to fight the demon king. Kazuma then finds this thing in the collection (looks like a trap thing at first) looks like an oddly shaped stone. He wants to take it back with him as a present for Aqua.
Turns out the artifact (a suit of armor) is not in the room. Secret door type of deal. Armor has no scratches, and the original owner never lost once. The guy died from an illness instead.
While they are touching the armor, a voice says "hey kid, stop touching me". Eris is surprised, the armor then realizes she's not a guy and says she can keep touching him for a little longer. Turns out the armor gained sentience.
Eris tells the armor that it will be given a new owner from Japan to help save the world. The armor refuses, says protecting someone while getting slashes is a pain. And says his handsome shining body will be hurt. Armor says it doesn't really like being full body, wants another owner to wear less on the lower body parts.
Eris tells the armor that not many girls end up being sent here, but says if any do come then she will prioritize the armor for them.
But then the armor shouts out loud that there are intruders.
The former, as of volume 8 it is still a comedy first and demon asskicking second.
Though from what I heard about the Web Novel, things to get somewhat serious by the end. However the LN has already greatly diverged from the original, so I doubt that will be the case.
>generic looking teenager MC
give me a single reason to watch this shit
The "generic looking MC" baits the loli mage of his party into bathing with him. When she says he was supposed to act embarrassed in a standard anime way, he says he doesn't give a shit about those kind of scripts.
Then says that if she were to fall for him, and try to beat him up out of jealously, he has an obligation to fight back since he believes in equality between genders.
And when they gang up on him later on, he does indeed fight back.
MC is the best part of this series, and even though the girls are all awesome he really is the center of the show.
Oh right, I should have mentioned that the translator is translating from the Chinese version.
I can offer no judgement on the accuracy besides that, since I don't read Japanese or Chinese.
Kazuma is the best part of this whole series, so don't you use the bloody "g" word when describing him. He's anything but generic. And yeah I'd rather have him be plain looking (like he is supposed to be) then be spiky pretty boy final fantasy number 113.
Also the guy is a total dick, which automatically puts him in my top list.
Now onto the third chapter.
Whole house woke up due to the armor screaming. Eris and Kazuma run away, with Kazuma agitated due to feeling like a wanted criminal.
Gets home before dawn, Aqua sees him early in the morning. Turns out neither of them slept last night (Kazuma tucked his clothing under his pajama's in a rush). Aqua says she knows why he stayed up, making Kazuma nervous. Says that Kazuma was too excited for the festival so he couldn't sleep, Kazuma then takes back his previous thoughts.
They go to the guild, which has more people than Kazuma has ever seen before. Board is completely filled with missions. Turns out the summer is filled with requests because everyone wants to have a safe festival, really good way to earn money compared to the winter, and the monsters are weaker on average.
One of the major issues are cicadas, leading to Kazuma to be confused. They explain how they are different from the ones in Japan, can live whole months, and are also very numerous.
Second part has them in the forest preparing to clear out the cicadas. Guild staff actually came out to coordinate adventurers, something that usually doesn't happen.
Darkness does her usual speech about making the citizens happy, Megumin also show enthusiasm. Surprisingly Aqua doesn't get carried away, and Kazuma and Aqua have a little chat. Kazuma thinks about Aqua's growth and starts crying; and Aqua starts worrying over why he is suddenly crying. Megumin and Darkness overhear their conversation and get confused.
I don't understand the appeal of spoilers. Here's some picture from volume 8.
Use your google skills if you want more.
They start fighting the waves of insects, with Kazuma wondering why Aqua suddenly became so competent. He then remarks on how his whole party is suddenly very active, and well not sucking like they usually do.
Aqua's busy healing everyone, and Darkness is doing a decent job of being a tank. Kazuma then starts telling Megumin that there isn't a need for her to do anything, but get's interrupted mid-sentence with her casting Explosion.
Wipes out the insects but also floors the adventurers, Aqua barely got out of the way. Megumin rose a level. Kazuma pissed, saying she was an idiot. Yells at her for looking so pleased with herself and tells her to apologize.
She retorts that everybody is used to her explosion magic anyways. Kazuma then looks to Darkness who is suddenly surrounded by ants. Usual Darkness stuff, so Kazuma ignores her.
Another wave of insects coming, disturbed and put into a frenzy due to Megumin's explosion. Whole forest worth of them, Kazuma calls for a full retreat.
Part 3 starts with Kazuma monologing, apparently he is very active in the preparations. He attributes it to his desire for stuff like the culture festivals in school, and remarks on how he missed out on those things while he was a NEET. Attended the committee almost everyday,
They call him a genius consultant because of his idea of making people wear swimsuits. Justifications being that it is celebrating Aqua the goddess of water, and they have to prevent "heat strokes". so security can't complain about it. Use water fights to prevent heat strokes, for safety of course.
Still infighting among the committee about various things. Kazuma talks about festivals from his home country. Also mentions stuff about how there's a rumor that Eris is going to be around in person, so there are going to be people dressing up as her. Compares it to Comiket.
It's an anticipation thing, people like looking forward to certain scenes.
Thanks for the pics, but yeah like I was saying (ran out of comment space and messed up spoiler again).
People like to know what scenes they can expect, I've done some studies at my university in regards to spoilers. And it turns out that people actually get more enjoyment in knowing what happens before actually watching/reading something.
Kind of strange, but that's just how it works. I'm just posting up the spoilers since I like this fanbase. I don't usually do this sort of thing, can't be assed most of the time.
>MC is the best part of this series, and even though the girls are all awesome he really is the center of the show.
And not because he's overpowered either. He has poor to medium strength but is very sneaky and clever in how he uses it. <spoiler>Despite which, he seems to die every other volume.</spoiler>
I thought he looked like that from the beginning... though now that I look back, he seems more generic in some of the V1 illustrations.
I mean, he looks kinda generic in the first volumes (bigger pupils and tamer expression) but later like in >>135661032 >>135661000 he now has smaller pupils, sharper eye and chin too. His expression looks more disheveled. His face looks like Hachiman from the first anime, kinda.
That scene is a bit long, with a lot of arguing between multiple parties so I kind of over-simplified it. But yeah, they do in fact call him out over some of his more questionable ideas.
Also the guy who called him a genius soon takes it back. Pretty funny scene honestly.
More stuff about the dress code for the festival. With part 3 ending on that note.
Part 4 starts with the Eris & Aqua festival officially starting, With cheers and stuff resounding throughout the town. Kazuma stayed up all night playing the game they brought back from the Crimson Magic Village. Thinks it was a treat for himself after all his hardwork.
The party (except for Aqua who ran out after staying up all night in excitement) have a chat about the festival while eating breakfast. Megumin asks what Kazuma is doing on the third day, and he replies nothing much. She then asks if he wants to watch the fireworks with her on that day.
Moves on to the evening, Remarks on how crowded area are, and the part ends with him mentioning quarreling has already started.
I think the sharpness of his eyes just increased, they look a bit more rounded in the earlier artwork. Though to be fair it might just be the context of these pics showing his more douchey side.
Sorry for the late reply, not yet. I'm going off the Chinese translations at the moment. So I'm waiting for them to upload the rest of the chapters, and I'll post spoilers when that happens. They are pretty fast, so it most likely won't take long.
I like Chris's design, it's my favorite of the lot. (Admittedly the designs for the main characters look iffy.)
>Darkness gets a breastplate
>Chris' top is barely there
Damn. I KNEW I'd see that before.
I've actually seen something similar IRL, not a full 180, but pretty damn bad regardless. Shit isn't pretty.
Apologies for any spelling errors or translation issues, on my third cup of coffee now.
Part 5 starts with a fight between Axis and Eris cult members. Darkness is exhausted, due to the amount of complaints coming in. Kazuma gives her some encouragement.
Moves onto Kazuma and Aqua alone together. Mentions how the number of people who follow her will increase. Aqua starts smiling at him in a way that differs from previous times, thanks him for making a good festival for her followers. Kazama remarks in his head about how Aqua has been acting oddly. He decides to change the subject, says how the money brought in could be used to improve her church in Axel. Aqua comments about the deficit, with Kazuma wondering why she's being so obedient. Kazuma feels a bit guilty, and Aqua comments that it has been hard for Kazuma lately and casts a powerful healing spell on him. (Very big ship tease atmosphere in this scene)
End of second day of the festival, Kazuma wants to retire as consultant to enjoy the festival (and partially out of guilty). Enters the committee room to see people welcoming him and urging him to go to the guest of honor position. Succubus is there, from the restaurant, agreeing to wear the swimsuits and stuff. Chapter ends with a toast and Kazuma and the group cheering for happiness and money.
And that's all for now until more chapters get put up, will post more spoilers here as soon as that happens.
I honestly don't get the design alterations, the LN ones are already pretty simple enough. Seems like a pure fanservice based decision imo.
The boobplate in particular annoys the hell out of me. As an armorfag, I get triggered when something practical in the source material, goes the fanservice route.
Plus it's not even very fanservicey. She's still wearing a full suit of not-very-revealing armor. It's just dumber looking armor.
I think my Google skills are fading, the only illustration I've been able to find was this colored one made for ants.
Anybody else have better luck?
Maybe because Kazuma isn't acting all tsundere with her?
They've been fighting less and less as the series progresses. Still weird to see a dere scene between them.
Megumin/Darkness jealousy scene when?
>Just buy the raw and scan it
Not really an option where I am, international fees can get really ridiculous even with something as small as a Light Novel. Not really inclined to spend that much money on something I can't read.
I appreciate the suggestion anyways though.
>Another one of those shitty harem light novels where the mc trips on a girl changing and gets beaten up
Trust /a/ to always have shit taste when they get hyped for this shit.
>another asshole who immediately assumes something about a series, and looks like an ass since nothing like that happens over the course of 8 volumes and 3 spin-offs in counting
>also doesn't even have the mental capacity to read the thread and see posts like this >>135660235
Trust /a/ to always have retards posting in threads at random.
>20 word sentence
>only parts that aren't wrong are "and", "of", "the", and "a".
Welp, time to lower my standards for /a/'s average intelligence doen another notch or two.
The average self-awareness among anons has really been taking a hit lately.
Isn't she supposed to have a scar on her face? Did they forget to draw it or is it an intentional thing?
So taking into account the volume 8 spoilers, lets see which girl comes out on top. Though honestly I have a pretty good idea already.
Poll is for Best Girl in general, not which one is best for Kazuma; so keep that in mind. Also
Chris and Erisare separate options since there is a pretty big difference in personality.
If you picked other, state which character it was in a reply.
Most likely, but might as well watch it and give it the smallest chance considering the director.
Still going to suck though.
I'm still holding out hope that they prove me wrong though.
Can just count them together if you want. Didn't want the people who haven't gotten the hint yet to start jumping down my throat about spoilers; no matter how obvious it is.
Happened before when a made a poll, would rather not have that again.
Speaking of terrible LN adaptations. The most common complaint about the anime version for a series is the skipping of non-essential scenes; but helped add some value that people wanted animated.
Considering Gifting's nature as a comedic series there isn't really much plot essential scenes aside from Beldia and the mobile fortress. So are there any scenes in particular that you guys would be pissed if they cut out?
inb4 anime original comedy and fanservice scenes
AntiMagic was horrible because it did the exact opposite of that. It skipped several essential scenes that set up future events and foreshadow plot points in favor of adding more useless fanservice.
They better keep that shit in, I burst out laughing when I first read that part.
Also considering the usual anime censor stuff, is Aqua still going to be an alcoholic? Please don't tell me she's going to be a heavy juice drinker or something.
Thanks a lot for the illustration dump anon. Really appreciate it.
Can't show this on a christian image board.
>They better keep that shit in, I burst out laughing when I first read that part.
Also interesting because of how completely chill she is about it. Despite being kind of dumb and lacking common sense about how to live, she knows a lot about the range of human foibles.
There's only a problem with underage drinking. Aqua is hardly underage, so it shouldn't be censored.
I mean if they can show loli teachers drinking then I don't see why Aqua shouldn't drink.
Was expecting a volume 9 hook illustration, I guess nothing crazy happens at the end of this volume then.
Also thanks for the illustrations anon.
Best Eris pic by far. I'm hoping she officially joined the dysfunctional harem as of this volume.
So uh, did he die again or something?
If so this is reaching Demon's Souls levels of dying and shit. Except getting increasingly more embarrassing as time goes on.
The thing about her trying to find her other half? I don't really know what to make of what she said so I just took it as foreshadowing, but how does that even relate to Chomusuke?
That was in the WN version.
Basically they sell him out to the kingdom for some stuff and Aqua purifies Wiz with whom the MC seriously crushed and all three of the girls started to pull shit because they didn't want KazumaXWiz (Aqua hates undead while Megumin and Darkness are turning yan from bing tsun).
MC then fucks off and leaves the group to adventure along with Chris who ends up helping him get over Wizs death.
>MC then fucks off and leaves the group to adventure along with Chris who ends up helping him get over Wizs death.
Didn't they defeat the maou in WN and Dark+Meg tried hard to seduce MC like darkness saying she was receiving many marriage proposals to kazuma?
MC and Chirs defeat the Demon king while using the rest of the group as a distraction.
MC is granted a wish and wishes he could live a peaceful life in Japan together with Crhis/Eris.
He gets ported to Japan with Eris and they marry.
Somehow Aqua ended up with them as well since she's treated as Kazumas item.
Megumin takes the credit for defeating the Demon Lord but is bitter about not doing it on her own and is depressed about Kazuma being gone.
Darkness as well while mostly being depressed about not being abused by the demon lord is still down because Kazuma is gone.
Basically author says fuck you to women who treat the MC like shit despite him taking good care of them all the time and they live their bitter lives.
Oh and Aqua ended up as the NEET who crashes the couch every now and then.
Keep in mind i read this in some comments so it may be wrong.
Basically when the MC starts to go after Wiz the put him through a lot of shit and then Aqua even purifies Wiz ''accidentally'' and doesn't even care about what she had done.
Wiz didn't die in the web novel. If I remember right, she's mentioned either before the final battle
or when Chris/Eris gives Kazuma a motivational speech after he dies. Her and Vanir are still alive.
I'm waiting for the Chinese translations to be put up. Can't be helped, so there's going to be a bit of a wait.
Maybe there's a moonreader who can tell us about the Vanir spin-off or something to fill the time.
Pretty sure these are fake spoilers anon, check like 4 or 5 threads back for the actual ones.
Not that the WN actually matters much since the LN has already changed quite a bit.
I haven't seen any myself, so I don't think so. Then again the cover art for the Aqua one was posted awhile back on Pixiv and other than that I hadn't seen a bit of it before now.
So there may have been some, but the (relative) obscurity means nobody bothered with scans and such.
I'm gonna pick it just for dat fine piece of semen demon. Is she relevant or just a side character?
dick is dead, life is pain
I think they are providing services during the festival. Not 100% sure on that though.
I think one of the arguments during the committee was whether or not to have them wear swimsuits or something. The wording kind of confused me in that segment (plus I was sleep deprived), so I didn't specify the succubus in my spoiler posts.
It is by DEEN. Well they might be putting in more effort since they already made an OVA and some shitty RPG maker game. And the VAs apparently found the show fun to do.
Also Kazuma is probably one of the best LN protagonists, where he's not overshadowed by the girls. He actually has personality that's not stone cold too cool for you, dense as fuck haremshit protagonist that blushes at the mere sight of bare legs, or must grab every fucking titty lol such a pervert.
He has a wonderful and beautiful personality.
I mean I guess I can do some pretty basic ones since they are up on the Chink site.
Here's the prologue for the first one.
Has a hooded person casting explosion in front of Megumin, awed by it and it's overwhelming power. When hooded person bends down the first impression Megumin gets is her big boobs. Megumin asks her how she can be like her.
Pessimistic words from her mother has been stuck in Megumin's mind, resulting in a desire to standout.
Hooded person says as long as she eats and learns she can become a great magician, but she doesn't recommend learning the spell she just used.
Hooded person then asks her if she was alone, since someone should be around who unsealed her. She moves to center of the explosion crater where a black beast is laying, put her hand on its head resulting in a light. Says something about how it should rest since the world is at peace, it starts turning smaller and it turns into a kitten (Chomusuke I think).
Hooded person turns around, and see Megumin picking up the scattered toys. Megumin says her family is poor so she needs to collect all she has. Hooded person gets confused because of the puzzle pieces of her seal were part of it.
Turns out she was unsealed because Megumin was playing around with the seal. Village warns people not to go, but her mom said there is hidden treasure there so Megumin just played with it.
Hooded person asks Megumin if she has any desires that she can fulfill for her. Megumin's first response is to conquer the world, which is refuted.
After some jokes, Megumin asks to be taught magic.
Pic related by the way. Love how mini-Megumin gives zero shits about the monster.
I haven't actually read this yet, so I'm skimming through the chapters before typing out the spoilers.
Don't think so, I'm pretty sure it's Megumin in the prologue (no names are mentioned). Since the POV character was really obsessed with the explosion.
To be fair I didn't actually take a look at the pic before uploading it. Just clicked the thumbnail from my Gifting folder. Still pretty stupid of me in hindsight though.
Okay so onto the first chapter.
Begins with a class attendance, the person next to her seems to be Yunyun. Teacher publishes results of an exam, Megumin gets first, goes to her seat and looks at her skill card.
Learning high level magic is the graduation requirement in the school. Shows that the student is ready to be independent, explosion requires fifty skill points. Ways to earn skill-points is to defeat a monster or drink a potion; so the potions are highly sought after. Megumin currently has forty-five points.
The image of the mage casting explosion is stuck in her mind, and her goal is to learn explosion and show that person her magic.
Part 2 has Yunyun banging on Megumin's desk and challenging her. The bet is her food, and the potion Megumin just earned. Megumin proposes that the contest be who is smaller (guess where?), Yunyun says that's a context she can't possibly win. Megumin blames her current size issue on the fact that her family is poor and they can't eat decent food for growth.
Part ends with them heading to the health center to get measurements.
Could that possibly be the Demon Lord's daughter?
We already heard about her since there is a telescope in the Crimson Village that lets you spy on the window of her room in the Demon Lord's castle.
Or is that another Demon Commander? Hope she doesn't die. The Demon Commanders so far died pretty violent deaths.
Does she appears on the current translations? Loli ghosts are aways good girls by what anime has taught me.
Unfortunately, she hasn't appeared in a while.
Loli was the previous owner of the mansion Kazuma and his gang lived in.
She steals Aqua's alcohol as well so she is an alcoholic loli ghost.
Starts with Megumin and Yunyun eating together, with Megumin having won the contest. Yunyun doing her usual speech on how rivals shouldn't be eating and walking together.
Moves onto a class lecture, teacher talks about how Explosion magic is useless outside of civil services.
Story about how it was used by a legendary arch wizard. Then they go onto to talk about how impractical it is.
Part 4 has language lessons, considered important due to the chanting of magic. Stuff about nicknames, (and how Yunyun has an embarrassing one).
Part 5 is physical education, basically a lot of ranting about chunni stuff and making yourself look cool in battles.
Yunyun is noticeably the only one with an embarrassed look on her face. Known for her strange perception of things (among the Village, everywhere else it would be common sense). Some scummy guy starts talking to her.
Moving on, finding partners, Megumin tells teacher she feels ill and needs to go to infirmary. Teacher says she's always skipping and class content is important today. She then does some chunni lines to trick the teacher into letting her go.
That's a good question actually, considering she has it in her Goddess form it means it wasn't from anything from her time as Chris right?
I don't think she actually makes a physical appearance. Aqua is the only one who can actually perceive her, so we only know about her from what Aqua says.
There was that strange paragraph where Kazuma found himself sleepwalking to the backyard to take care of the loli ghost's grave and wondering why he was doing such a thing for no reason.
She's going to the death of me. Moe death, that is.
Still on chapter 1, sorry about the delay, took a short break for dinner.
Part 6 has Megumin intentionally sitting in front of Yunyun baiting her with the potion, and Yunyun asking why she is doing that. Some banter with Yunyun complaining about Megumin's tricks to steal her lunch.
Intercom goes off mid-conversation, announcement about mystery rain, confirmed to have been artificially created. Classes suspended.
She then goes to the library, see titles of books while browsing stuff like "Crimson Magic birth secret", "Road to Perdition, some guide about magic and technology", "The fourth Duke of Hell book- Clairvoyance Devil", "Rumors of inhabitants from a different world and the truth" (order wording kind of confused me here, I rearranged it a bit since I think it is a reference to people like Kazuma, feel free to correct me).
Finds the books she is looking for, "Explosion Magic Practicality", basically a bit of backstory about the magic. Seems like it was never really meant to be used by humans in the first place. She puts it away since she thought her heart wouldn't be able to handle anymore.
Finds an interesting story about a conflict between villagers and lords, unite against an evil and reconcile and create a great city; also makes solidarity important.
While searching around for the sequel someone comes in commenting on how she's reading books, so she must not have any friends. Megumin does some lines about attacking her while she is vulnerable and making unreasonable demands of her, confusing the group, The no-friends line was just teasing from them, and they were just there to talk to her. Some banter about how Megumin is the unreasonable one.
Chat moves to cover the rain, and how the thing sealed away seems to be getting out. With the servants of the sealed being getting out through the gaps in the seal before it can be resealed.
Part 7 starts with them talking about how something similar almost happened seven years ago. But was prevented by a stray mage and the crater at the site was evidence of this.
Megumin's memories of the event are foggy since she was a child, but she distinctly remembers the hooded mage. Megumin starts heading out for home, he house being at the outskirts of the town away from other people. She also takes the time to see if their is any food on the way back.
When she was about to leave, she sees Yunyun still in the classroom who calls out to her. Says something about how they can go to Megumin's house while she is walking to her own. (Though Yunyun's house is far closer since she lives in the center of the village, so it would be a long detour).
Megumin asks if she wants to walk home with her. And Yunyun says okay, but brings up the whole rivals shouldn't be close to each other thing. Megumin then starts to ditch her by walking out of the classroom, with Yunyun chasing after her saying they will resume their relationship as rivals tomorrow.
Next few lines is basically Yunyun being a tsundere and mumbling about stuff friends do (like buying Megumin lunch instead of being conned for it everytime). But when Megumin asks her to repeat herself she says she didn't say anything. (Is everybody a tsundere in this series?)
Everyone is tsundere. Which is fine since none of them have tsundere as their main trait, but rather as their romantic trait. Plus everyone being tsundere keeps things in a stasis when it comes to romance.
Part 8 has Megumin and Yunyun visiting the only cafe in the village. Some bickering, and the cafe guy talking about how Megumin is considered a genius. Yunyun retorting about the silly names for the ordinary foods.
Megumin asks Yunyun what she wants by inviting her to a meal. Asks if she wants to know her weakness, which at the moment is deserts. Which Yunyun retorts about her just wanting to binge eat sweets.
Yunyun then asks Megumin if she likes boys. Basically Yunyun wants to have a conversation with Megumin like other girls would have. Megumin talks about how strangely Yunyun acts compared to everyone else in the village.
Megumin then says that she would want a sincere and honest man (lol), and Yunyun remarks that's surprisingly gentle of her. Talks about how Megumin runs contrary to her expectations, a little bit of banter an then they walk out together chatting.
Pretty damn easy to honestly, I mean just look at this.
I will also be photoshopping the watermarks from the Chink's images out later. Unless someone already has the images without them. Will post them all when I'm done.
In this case I feel like the static nature of the romance makes sense considering its parody nature. But also the mutual tsundere attitude actually makes a decent reason for why nobody outright says anything.
Though Megumin is pretty damn direct about it honestly.
Megumin is tricky though which is the issue. She might just be baiting you for a reaction. So you can't really tell if she actually likes like you or is just teasing and enjoying the reaction.
Part 9 starts with Megumin arriving home and being welcomed by her little sister. Her sister's robe has mud on it so Megumin questions if she was out playing instead of doing chores.
Turns out she did what Megumin usually does with Yunyun, and conned a guy so that she could run out and play. Megumin brought back a sandwich to give to her. Megumin gives her a chunni story on how she obtained it.
Sister says she caught something before Megumin came, turns out to be a cat. Cat appears somewhat traumatized. Sister says it resisted at first, but after she bit it, it began to comply.
Megumin thinks about how they don't have room for it, alternative being to toss it back outside. Megumin joking says something (I think in her head) about eating it for breakfast. Turns around and sees her sister actually biting the cat.
Part 10 is back in the school. Megumin brought the cat with her. Due to the home situation Megumin wants to bring it to school everyday. Starts using chunni excuses to keep it around but the teacher refuses. Starts using cute expressions instead, but gets called out by her classmates as a fake Megumin. She asks if they are picking a fight, so she lifts up a chair ready to beat them up with it.
They start trying to think up a name for it, later on Megumin goes to the blacksmith. Some conversation about the common sense of the village, guy warns her to head home before the seal unravels. Sister pops up covered in mud, says she found some toys. Makes Megumin feel anxious for some reason.
More incoming anon.
Starts off with a short monologue from Megumin about the state of her life.
Moves onto Komekko at her play area (which is in front of the seal), she sees a monster and calls it a goblin. The monster calls her a kid, and tells her not to mistake his kind with Goblins. Points out the differences in appearance.
Komekko says she is not a kid, but Komekko, Monster asks why she is at this place, says people usually warn them about not coming to the seal area.
Komekko replies that her sister stated that they didn't need to succumb to the Village's unreasonable demands.
Monster is impressed with Komekko, thinks she is strange but decides to let her live even though he would normally kill witnesses straight away. Says he is giving her special treatment, and she has to promise not to tell anybody about his presence. Says he has a job to do.
He starts messing with the seal, but Komekko yells out about her puzzle. Monster is confused, but makes a deal with her that if he feeds her she will work on figuring out the seal. Flies away when she agrees.
And that's the end of the chapter.
>dies an embarrassing death from a tractor
>dies from decapitation by accidentally not throwing his weapon away in time
>dies from falling off a tree while celebrating his victory
>dies from getting pounced on by a basic mob enemy
>dies from getting eaten by a Hydra.
Honestly it gets a bit more embarrassing with every death.
Nah nigga, the first death was definitely the most embarassing.
>Push a girl out of the way of a slow moving tractor because you thought it was a speeding truck
>So scared that you literally shit your pants in fear
>Die from a heart attack because of that fear
>Doctors and nurses can't stop from laughing when they realize you shit your pants
>Your family was crying at first, but when they heard you literally shit your pants, they end up laughing
>dies from falling off a tree while celebrating his victory
This one is still my favourite.
He gets to be all cool for once, and then immediately ruins it.
Actually, that seems to be his standard operating procedure.
