Akira
Just download the BD already.
Does Akira have the best OST in anime history?
70mm Roadshow when? It's probably not as exciting as it sounds though, since any 70mm would just be blown up from the original 35mm, but I'd still love to see that on the large screen.

>watching 80s anime

>not watching one of the best animes every once in a while to remind you that most current stuff is shit
>>135622221
I'm not some hipster who watches older stuff while deluding myself into thinking it's better than modern stuff.
>Akira
>Ninja scroll
>Ghost in the shell

Yeah, just shit for people who belong on /v/. Watch cute girls or fuck off.

I really miss how 80s and 90s anime were shaded and coloured. It made for much more believable and lived in scifi worlds instead of the sterile and clean look of modern scifi anime.

If you didn't watch shit, you'd complain less.

Everybody has watched Knk and it looks nothing like how 80s and 90s looked. Get your eyes checked.

There are people who aren't conserned with when the anime was released.
I was pretty disappointed by it. I thought it would be about badass guy who rides his cool red motorcycle and messes up some shit in cyberpunk setting, instead I have a barebone story about some damn edgy brat who goes full Elliot Rodgers on his friends because of totally scary stupid government project. It's like I watched Elfen Lied: The Prequel or something.
Who is Akira? What are you? Fuck off, you're not interesting. The fucking poster lied to me. Music and animation is top tier though, I especially liked facial animation. Too bad it's wasted on dumb characters and their dumb shit.

Try the manga
Who?
>>135625288
>>135625291
So the movie is just an eye candy after all?
>>135625239
This. It has not aged at all well.
Plus the punish-the-rape-victim bit, where the girl whose tits we get to see has to die because she is now impure.

>wanting used goods
He made the right decision.
>>135625424
It may not have aged well but it's still being parodied to this day.
>>135623172
what's this from?
>>135625417
The manga is eye candy too, actually.
But yeah, the film isn't very cohesive, really just excels in animation and music.
>>135625424
Why do you think that's the reason she died?
>>135625740
The sheerly gratuitous nature of her death.
>>135621786
No?
>>135625649
Had to look it up myself, but it's from Patlabor 2.
>>135625805
I figured it was punishment for Tetsuo, to kill the only person who still cared for him (barring Kaneda).
>>135626074
thanks, I've been thinking of watching patlabor for years now, I guess I should get to it
To be honest, I could never really get why all these fanbois put this movie on a damn pedestal all the goddamn time.the animation and sound were top-notch , but the manga got me more invested with more colourful characters, their motivation, and the neo-tokyo republic arc.

Akira is still one of the most visceral anime movies, up there with Steamboy and Redline. You might have wanted to enjoy it more on an emotional or cerebral level, but that's on you, not the movie. I don't get how anyone can think Akira hasn't aged well when criticizing aspects such as characters and story, which weren't great back then to begin with. It has always been about the amazing visuals, audio and set pieces.
