What does world building mean for /a/?
Minecraft.
Terraria.
Setting up basic lore and characterization, as well as putting together a striking, yet consistent visual image of the setting and characters. The best world-building is often where much of the backstory is left at least somewhat vague in order to allow for more creative freedom within the setting's constraints. This does not, however, mean that retcons are necessarily a bad thing. A good excuse for retconning the backstory might be that the previous lore was actually misinformed common knowledge, and thus this allows for most anything to be changed at a later date, providing that the material being change hasn't been directly viewed by the audience.

That if the world is seemingly contemporary but with an added concept then the author should explore how that world is different.
Otherwise it comes off as a bit empty to me. I think the only reason I'm salty about the lack of history of ghouls is because Ishida went out of his way to describe Kagune with some midichlorian tier shit, but now where the fuck ghouls came from.

Dwarf Fortress.
A world that's interesting. Look at Dark Souls, the whole world is never explained but most of what's in it is varied and interesting.

The world building in dark souls works so well because the lore very much exists but it isn't spoonfed to you, you have to peice it together yourself from fragmented sources throughout the game

When the setting and the characters are shown to the viewer, so he gets an idea about the world and the people that live in it.

Problem is Dark Souls as a game has the advantage of exploration.
So it's necessary to be a bit more overt in the showing, and not too much of an exposition dump of telling.
Pretty much the opposite of A/Z

Paying attention to detail.

It's just a buzzword for when a show doesn't use tropes or makes fun of them.

It's a buzzword. Most of the shit people refer to as deconstruction is just sort of subversive.
